QUOTE(JohnStamos @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) There's really not a lot of options for Ozwaldo at this point. Vizcaino and Jenks are available, but Viz pitched two yesterday so he won't be completly fresh. Nevermind, I thought Hermy was unavailable for today for some reason but I guess I was wrong.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) So, what? He is a Spring Training pitcher? Can you guarantee me that he will be consistent in the future? He is highly overrated IMO. He has a great Spring Training and all of the sudden, he is the best Sox prospect ever! Nothing is ever guarenteed. We have a sample of McCarthy's best and a sample of his worst, so noone knows what lies in store for him. All I know is he could be a great pitcher and thats enough to not through him into a trade that doesn't need to be made.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) EXACTLY! No f***ing pressure and he strived. Then, he blew ass in he minors and blew ass in the bigs. It was still the whole damn Rangers line up! If McCarthy is on, he can be lights out (like in ST). But he is not nearly consistent enough to start in the majors right now. In a few years, he will be but you cannot ask him to go from A to the majors in one year.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Look at last year's Freddy Garcia trade. We were all screaming about how Olivo/Morse/Reed was such a steep price and how Reed would be an All-Star type player and that Olivo will be a great catcher. Look how it turned out. Olivo got sent down. Reed has been good but not great. Morse has been hitting well I guess but to no success rate to the team. I'm not one to compare trades normally, but the White Sox were desperate to find a starter at that point. There is no desperation here...we are 13 games ahead and still have one of the best number 4 starters in the league. Freddy also was having a good year to that point unlike Schmidt. Also, every player that we sent to Seattle is still relatively young and Reed could be an all-star in the next couple years very easily.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) Shingo will be gone anyway, BMAc has amounted to nothing yet. I;m not giving up on him but all we have really seen from him is 1 1/2 good starts and an excellent ST. Come on, he's been getting knocked around in the minors. And Count, well, he is the topping on the cake for SF. They want 2 ML pitchers, take Count and Shingo. McCarthey has struggled, but he was rushed into a situation where he was not ready enough to succeed in. I have no doubt that he will amount to a good MLB pitcher in a couple years. I really don't think we should give up someone who has his whole future for someone who had been great but is now somewhat questionable. If this moved guarenteed us a good showing in the playoffs I'd do it, but I really think Schimdt is not the answer and that there is no surefire answer in this year's trading market.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) A little contradictory, no? No...you would have to be an idiot to not want Jason Schmidt on your team over Count or El Duque. But at his asking price, the move would cost a great deal for what could amount to simply a minimal upgrade.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) How about pitching injured for the 1st 1/4 of a year? Let's see how Count does pitching with an injury huh? So let's give up a bunch of talent for someone who has been injured early in the year and has provided less output than someone we already have on the team right? Schmidt has not been that great this year and, even though I think he would better than Count/Duke, I fail to see the reason to trade for a mystery player when you have a 13 game lead in your division.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) A clown suit would be cool. I doubt Contreras has thrown a CG in the major leagues. But that's why JR pays the guys in the bullpen millions. If Contreras threw a complete game, the game would last about 5 hours. Seriously, I need two tv's going at the same time to keep from being completely bored. -
Is it me your thinking off? I'm not sure if he was sport a Sox cap, but the plumber from Desperate Housewives was a White Sox fan. The other White Sox supporter was catching for Americans for the first half of the game. Didn't catch his name though.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) STFU with this "best record in baseball" s***. Look at the way we played against the Angels, A's, and Rangers. And then consider that we've still yet to see the Yankees and Red Sox, and will get more games against the Angels, Rangers, and Orioles in the 2nd half. And then check Cleveland's schedule. Because the Yankees and Orioles have been so dominating as of late right? Those teams have gone through times like we are currently going through, but yet we must fear them? And think about Cleveland this way. They have to play around .700 ball and we have to play around .500 ball for them to overtake us. While it's possible, it's certainly very doubtful.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Just cause a team has your number, it doesn't mean you have to bend over and take it in the ass. We have a very tough schedule in the 2nd half of the year, and with the way the Cell plays, our pitching staff will not be able to duplicate their first half numbers. Our offense needs to pick it up. So you're telling me the White Sox are 50/50 to blow a 9 game lead at the All-Star break because they have a very tough schedule and the pitching staff is going to choke? We still play a bunch of games against the division, who we have dominated thoroughly this year. You don't have the best record in baseball solely because of an easy schedule. Our pitching has a huge task to duplicate it's first half, but the Cell has played the way it has for the entire first half of the season and we still have won.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) What a f***ing joke. Do people really think we're a legit contender to win the AL? At this point, I think it's 50/50 we even make the playoffs. Way too many holes. What a joke? We lose 3 games against a team that has our number and you virtual give up on our chances to do anything. Remember the last couple time we lost 3 in a row? I do, because the team rebounded and showed us why they have the best record in baseball through 1/2 a season. You're the f***ing joke with posts like this.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Personally...I'd love to see the total numbers...see how Scotty fared against Matsui + Jeter. 4 million votes for Pods out of 14 million cast...say probably 5 million for the NL...that leaves a total of 5 million votes between Jeter, Matsui, Hunter, and Crawford...there's a decent shot that Pods held his own against the combination of Yankees...if more than 1 million votes went to Hunter and Crawford Combined he could have beaten them both. I may be mistaken, but I think the 14 millon vote cast is being misinterpreted. Since you could vote for one AL and one NL person in each balot, theoretically their still could have been 10 million more votes split up between the rest of the AL. While I know it's obvious that some only voted for NL, I think the race was as close as MLB.com wanted us to think.

Where can I find extensive statistics such as split stats by inning (such as what each player hits by inning)? I'm looking for something free and fairly easy to use. Thanks for any help.
