^^^ Probably our best player over the past 4 years. -
Progress as in move towards a goal? Hey man, you might not agree with what every party wants but you'd be hard pressed to find one that isn't progressive.
-
People dont even know what the word liberal means.
-
It was pretty clear what you meant when you said "neocons and liberals", conveniently leaving one group out or at least breaking the conservative constituency into two parts. You should be proud of your ability to gload somebody into an interweb rage with your stuff. This is kind of related, but neocons have joined the mainstream media as the most tired political cliches. I mean really, liberalism has changed since 30 years ago but I never see the word neoliberalism compared to often I'm subjected to a new rant on neocons. Conservatives saw how disastrous the George Bush presidency has been and there's been this movement to distance themselves from it by blaming it on neocons. Traditional conservative ideologies have gone extinct for a reason, and the only way they've been able to gather votes is behind social issues or a Ronald Reagan type leader with incredible communication skills.

This would make sense if anarchy wasn't the most historically precedented method of governing in human history. Remember that anarchy is, by nature, a conservative idea. Oh just go f*** yourself, where have I said I'm an anarchist? All I've been saying here is that your black and white view of what holds water academically is remarkably full of crap. This stems from your hilarious notion that every group other than traditional conservatives is anti-intellectual.
-
You just said anarchy has no intellectual basis...
-
This isn't true. The most radical right-wing ideal is anarchy, and our international system has been governed by it since the dawn of nations.

Hardy is also pretty good defensively (he isn't Escobar, but still good) and he's been improving dramatically over the past 2 seasons. His OPS has gone up every season over the past 3 years and even if he's hit his ceiling that would still make him a top 10 SS in baseball. You dont kick a cheap, young top 10 player at his position out of town for any prospect unless it's Ken Griffey Jr. or ARod. The chances of J.J. Hardy regressing into a .250/.300/.400 type player are pretty slim and it would definitely be a much larger risk to give Escobar the SS position than Hardy. The Brewers have only 3 offensive starters who are below league average in OPS, I'm sure they'd like to keep it that way. Also, the guys the White Sox are shopping are getting thrown out there for a reason. Other than Buehrle, and we only shopped Mark when he had a couple months left on his contract, nobody we are looking at trading now has anywhere near the value of a J.J. Hardy. I've heard nothing about us trading away AJ Pierzynski.
-
Do you believe what you write sometimes? That's an honest question.
-
Yea but Escobar isn't something they need, and I surely wouldn't value him over J.J. Hardy if I were the Brewers. Hardy leads all MLB SS except Hanley Ramirez in HR's the past two seasons, but the Brewers should value Alcides Escobar over him? This is insane. The Brewers aren't trying to rebuild either, they might have the best lineup in the NL and Sheets-Gallardo-Parra is a pretty good top of the rotation.

Phil Rogers on Sox quest to find leadoff man

He meant Oakland, Furcal rejected Oaklands offer though. -

This means Furcal. I like it. -
The Brewers wont trade Gallardo or Parra, you should just forget about those two. They're going to lose Sabathia and even if Sheets accepts arbitration they're still left with a huge dropoff after the #3 in their rotation. A great move would be Bobby Jenks for Alcides Escobar and Cole Gillespie. I know we have a lot of middle infield prospects in Beckham, Lillibridge, Getz and Nix but none of those guys are Escobar; hes on a totally different level as a prospect than everyone in our system except maybe Beckham. I really like Cole Gillespie, college ballplayer who's matured as a hitter... really gets on base and can steal a few bases. I'd love for the Sox to get him.
-
That was a slick move.

Stark Says Sox Signed Van Benschoten
DukeNukeEm replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This isn't threadworthy... but what does everyone think of Cantu? edit- that tidbit is in the link -
At first it was funny, but I'm really starting to get sick of/frightened by the war on intellectualism in America.
-
Bobby Jenks, Gavin Floyd, Tyler Flowers and Josh Fields to the Yankees for Alex Rodriguez Jermaine Dye and Orlando Cabrera to the Dodgers for Matt Kemp Gotta be clearing that money up for something, and as mentioned before Kenny always gets his guys. Just for kicks, lets imagine this: CF- Matt Kemp SS- Alexei Ramirez LF- Carlos Quentin 3B- Alex Rodriguez DH- Jim Thome 1B- Paul Konerko C- AJ Pierzynski RF- Dayan Viciedo 2B- Brent Lillibridge/Chris Getz/Gordon Beckham The rotation and bullpen would hurt a little bit, but we'd score a lot of runs.
