  1. This kid should be executed. Killing 4 people? What the f***. At least lock hin up for life if you cant get him pricked by a death neeedle. Im philosophically against DUI laws. And practically too. Its not as dangerous as it sounds and all of you who've driven legally drunk before know that. Hasnt it essentially been proven that cell phone use is more dangerous? We all rationalize that one though. If you get pulled over drunk the worst you should get is the drunk tank. I personally dont drive drunk or text behind the wheel anymore because at 80,000 lbs of unwieldy machiney that at times requires perfect focus its ludicrously irresponsible. But cars are easy, you really just need to be paying attention and you'll be fine (provided the road is dry and you arent in a deathtrap). HOWEVER, if you kill someone with your negligent idiocy that should be the end of you. Now youve entered the world of creating victims. Joe Lunchpail who gets pulled over on the backroads with a .11 didnt hurt anyone, he shouldnt suffer. But if he did, his ass should be grass. This kid shouldnt be breathing after what he did.
  2. This is a pretty stellar argument. I mean, if you can keep Marshall happy and dump Cutler.. s***. I forgot about Gannon... THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING.
  3. If shes ballooning now wait until shes nesting. Jettison the lunar module, bro.
  4. Cont. I love Alshon Jeffery. Hes awesome, hes exciting, hes fantastic and we have every reason to be excited. That, however, does not make Brandon Marshall expendable. Jeffery could flop. This could all be a mirage. Or he could just be a tits-awesome #2 but a god-awful #1. I dont think any of that is true personally, but I dont want to chance it just yet. Keep Marshall, keep Marshall happy. Dont go ruining this you f***ing Bears fans you with your meddling ways.
  5. The Bears will never continue to have a "top offense" without routine and obsessive maintenance. How long have we been Bears fans here? You cannot honestly believe that this franchise can just lose a QB like Cutler and Brandon Marshall and keep chugging along. When John Tait (JOHN f***ING TAIT) retired the OL was the leagues worst for like 5 years. Before Cutler people canonized Jim Miller. Muhsin Muhammad was our #1 WR for years. Not to long ago Devin Hester alone on ST was outgaining and outscoring the entire O. This was the whole point of Marc Trestman. Enough was enough. Dont suddenly sabotage how far we've come because you want to get all cute with Josh McCown and the draft weaving together what can only loosely be described as a plan. f*** that, you keep Cutler for next season no matter what* and if you want to draft a QB fine but the org cannot be willing to risk receding back to being the traditional, inept, Bears offense.
  6. Guys have been hurt running into OF walls. BAN OUTFIELDS. Guys have been hurt pitching. BAN PITCHING. Guys have been hurt running to 1st base. BAN FIRST BASE. If your career is in pro sports there's an inherent risk that injury will f*** up your career. Its not the games' job to put big fluffy pillows on everything and ban any contact between players and the outside world. Its surely not the fans responsibility to see the game's integrity and entertainment value compromised.
  7. Seriously? Its one of the most exciting plays in the sport. This is baseball, not simulated war like the NFL. You can let them run into each other (especially with one dude wearing enough armor to stop a 100 mph rock) once every so often without incurring a lawsuit. The nice thing about baseball is that its not terribly unsafe or physically ruinous, so it could withstand the onslaught of bleeding hearts without sacrificing its integrity. Guess not. I hope the owners vote it down.
  8. Guys, Alshon Jeffery is-like-really good. Startlingly good, even "this guy would be considered good on any other team" good. Thats pretty cool.
  9. We have a glut of LHP, this made sense even if I was a real fan of Hector's. The problem is we got crap in return. Adam Eaton cant hit. I dont get it, and now were going to deal DeAza for a lottery ticket prospect. What does this net us other than a new face? I mean, unless Hahn does something super fancy (or teams somehow arent aware of ADAs sucktitude) this boils down to: Solid lefty with good potential Low caliber starting CF for Low-middle caliber starting CF Mediocre prospect Team didnt get better unless they see something in Eaton that indicate he will get good.
  10. Spending a first round pick on a QB doesnt help the defense.
  11. They obviously cannot be stopped on the ground by anyone. That gives them a chance to win. I dont theyll romp anyone, though.
  12. Dams are worse than wind farms. s***, theyre probably worse than coal. They have a place, but the USA went dam-mad and theres a million of them. See the aforementioned Columbia River which apparently just gets raped for fun by people in OR and WA.
  13. 1. I dont think "Capitalistic" is a word, capitalist works just fine. Same goes for socialistic. Aside from littering I think this is my #1 pet peeve. 2. If the Natives had the technology to ship themselves across the ocean and take Europe they would have. The Aztecs would've been all over that s***.
  14. The also wanted the Philippines. Pretty badly, too. They didn't waste much time taking them. But they lost. And we kept the Philippines eventually just giving them sovereignty. Evil white people I tell you what, sending thousands of their children off to die to liberate colonies then grant them a bloodless independence.
  15. Its not as bad as it couldve been. At least we play the Germans last, theyll be fresh off skullf***ing Ghana and should have it wrapped up. They wont sit half their team (and even if they did theyd still probably win) but we should get a goal or two on them with nothing to play for. Ghana is must-win. Have to find a way to beat them. The USMNT does that and theyre actually looking OK. Draw Portugal and dont get clobbered by the a Germans. Oversimplification yea, but all is not lost.
  16. Yup. We took it all then gave some back. Its their fault for losing the war. Want the land? Win the war.
  17. I dont know, Im trying to make a broader point here but I dont know how to convey it. I just know that ridiculing my insensitivity is exactly the kind of frustrating adherence to a perpetual guilt cycle that cuts the legs out from any substantial discussion.
  18. Well the M.O. of the time was war. The natives did it to each other for stuff, the settlers back on their home continent were doing it for stuff. It was just the way things worked. Also, they arent all dead. Theyre still there, we eventually gave them chunks of land and stuck to the promise of letting them keep it. Is there a German reservation on the Alsace-Lorraine? Do we lament the loss of the Roman Empire? I mean, Northern Ireland still exists!! I dont condemn those European examples of brute force conquest and more than I do what happened in the New World. Its just the way things happened. Channel your inner Vonnegut and accept it without trying to do so much in the present to attempt righting an irreversible wrong of the past. Its a waste, there are bad things happening in places like South Africa that you can do something about now.
  19. I actually care a lot about all that stuff, too. And yea wind farms on corn fields really doesnt bother me aesthetically but they arent efficient. Those turbines break, and they got to be trucked in. And they arent cheap to build and a lot of it reeks of government connections enabling guys to just throw them up with no care in the world. The birds will be fine, too. Thats not a concern.
  20. It was a war. The natives knew what war was. It took them a minute but they even grasped the consequences of losing that particular war. Then they lost. Losing sucks, but for there to be a winner... Its been called a genocide but I disagree with that. It wasnt a systemic, targeted elimination. The point wasnt to kill Natives but to get their land.
  21. I personally consume very little. In terms of efficiency living in the back of a truck is unbeatable. I make the 5 foot commute from the sleeper to the driver's seat in my underwear. I maybe burn a calorie. Add that to me barely having enough room for anything back there and I do much less consuming of resources than just about anyone. Dont blame me for driving the truck. Youre the ones who need mountains of crap delivered to you from 1000's of miles away.
  22. Oh, the poor innocent Native Americans. Before Columbus showed up they just wanted to live in perfect harmony with nature and sing Beatles songs in a drum circle. Yea, right. The Aztecs were f***ing brutal. Not just their weird human sacrifice rituals that get talked about a lot, but theyd just attack anyone near them and enslave them. They did manage to build what by all accounts was a magnificent city and a pretty interesting culture on the back of murder and slavery but to hold them on a moral high ground to the Europeans is ridiculous. If you think the Dutch, British and Belgians were mean colonizers look at the Aztecs, everyone since save the industrialized killing machines of the 20th century is small time. The Iroquois werent much better. They werent as much into the slavery and sacrifice side of things but even pre-Columbus theyd invade other tribes. They were no less expansionist than the Europeans who eventually beat them. Hell, the Illini got chased up a hill and starved to death like 100 miles south of US Cellular Field by two other tribes. Thats not even starting with Fort Dearborn, Roanoke, Jamestown... Point is, these dudes eventually got beaten at their own game. They werent doe-eyed innocents that got wiped out by an evil maraudimg white race. They knew what was going on because before we showed up they were doing it to each other.
