  1. That is so abundantly untrue. And without Joe Paterno this isn't a story... dont kid yourselves'. The media and public love getting the chance to tear someone down.
  2. You know, the more i read about this f***ing mess the more I think we all f***ed up blaming Paterno right off the bat. This thing was higher than him, he was boxed out. Missing DA's, sex rings, multi-millionaires whoring out victims... even when Paterno got wind of what Sandusky was up to who the hell would say anything? Want to wind up dead? This geezer didn't run Happy Valley the way we all thought he did back in November. He was a pawn in a big game. If he rats a lot of powerful people go down and he knew it, and now he gets to take all the derision and hatred when we should be trying to look at the broader picture. For a long time now he was set up to be the fall man, the old guy who's time was coming, who had the most at stake and all the people committing these acts knew they could count on him to keep his mouth shut once they posed enough threats. Sandusky was the tip of the iceberg and there's a whole lot more underneath. Paterno happend to be the Titanic.
  3. Thank god the Royals have no idea what theyre doing once they got on the basepaths.
  4. The survey is out. You get $5 off upper reserved and $10 off lower reserved for a couple games in late august/early september.
  5. What a nice favor to the Charlotte Knights. Jose Lopez is remarkably bad.
  6. When it became clear that it was a matter of when instead of if the USA and USSR were going to join that war Hitler made a gambit to knock the USSR out before the USA could join in. That's the only real explanation for opening up the Eastern Front, Germany simply didn't have the time to arduously break Britain's back by tying up all their resources in the Battle of the Atlantic and battling the RAF (which ended up being ridiculously underestimated by just about everyone). This is especially true when you consider the UK had no real means to launch any offensive campaigns after Dunkirk. Either way, the gambit failed, the UK proved to be extraordinarily resilient in the face of terror-bombings and the combination of rapid transition in wartime industry and the Japanese not waiting at least 6 more months to drag the USA into the war were just too much for Germany to bear. I honestly believe the German war machine could have withstood any one of those things, but all of them was just a bit overkill.
  7. That's about as undoubtful as a no-doubted gets. s*** Jordan, make is suspenseful next time and not almost put the damn ball on the concourse.
  8. It's better than the first one by quite a bit.
  9. Great series win. Just take care of the Royals and get ready for the A's, let Detroit worry about Detroit. They have a brutal stretch of games this week.
  10. Humber had a hell of a year last year and you don't just luck into a perfect game in the MLB, dude can pitch. The pen may wind up being good for him in a long relief role.
  11. Nothing can be worse than Internet news. The blog, the vlogs, the complete lack of any f***ing standards combined with this smug "new media" pretentiousness makes it unbearable. TV news has a long way to go to be that bad.
  12. Because if Komova doesn't needlessly take 3 steps off the landing she wins the gold. She was so much better than Gabby on the uneven bars and especially floor routine. Honestly, and I have nothing against Gabby Douglas, but she was really lucky throughout this Olympics. First Wieber gets screwed by the judges allowing her to qualify, and then all her real competition for the gold each make one big catastrophic error.
  13. This game restored my faith in Addison Reed.
  14. I really like Jake Peavy, I have since we got him. He plays hard, he works even harder and he's got a lot left in the tank. Him and Sale can form an ultimate righty/lefty combo at the top of the rotation, with Danks right behind as a #3. After that we all know its Kenny-land, but if you can get another year out of this Jake Peavy you do it. The price of his option is a bargain for how well he can pitch and the attitude he brings. If I had my way he'd retire here. All around awesome pitcher who has overcome amounts of adversity that have totally ruined many careers.
  15. I think its been said before by Baseball Prospectus that aside from that one year, where they guessed our record exactly, that Kenny Williams basically operates on a different plane of existence from them. They dont really know how or why, but predicting the White Sox with him controlling the roster has been almost impossible.
  16. I thought that was just more Hawk-rambling, but we'd still be playing baseball if EE and Becks didnt make those plays.
  17. This will go the way of #KONY2012 and all the other fads people love faking outrage over on the internet. Chick-Fil-A keeps on keeping on making tons of money despite a bunch of people (who've never eaten there before) 'boycotting' them, while the free publicity from this thing strengthens brand conciousness and gets more people in there to eat the sandwiches. Honestly, and this may come off a little hostile, but I'd rather live in a world with Chick-Fil-A where gays dont have rights than a world without Chick-Fil-A where gays do. Banning a fast-food restaurant that I enjoy has a much larger negative impact on my life than gays still not having the ability to marry.
