  1. I was expecting just that. But instead of the Navy we got 1 stupid destroyer and then a museum ship that was essentially mothballed decades ago. The Navy watched the whole thing go down. I'm going to stop talking about this because it makes me angry.
  2. Wood was lined up to be one of the best pitchers of all time. He had more than a legitimate shot at the K record.
  3. It was not how they advertised it at all. Not one bit.
  4. So I took advantage of the rampant disorganization and essentially snuck around with various news teams all day today at the rallies. Got in on the Gerry McCarthy news conference pretending my phone was a voice recorder, talked to a CPD Major and got to hear some of the dialogue between police and protest leaders trying to figure out a route. I already had a feeling the news of huge animosity between the protestors and cops was overstates, but today I confirmed it. They were really just having fun with each other more than anything.
  5. If you just take Independence Day for what it is there is absolutely nothing wrong with it as a movie.
  6. How it should have gone: 1. Scientist sees something on radar 2. Summon the joint chiefs! 3. It landed in the ocean! 4. Send everything we got! 5. MASSIVE KILLTACULAR 6. Ships sinking everywhere, aliens gettin' rocked by the latest and greatest 7. Liam Neeson suicides a nuclear aircraft carrier into the mothership, saving the world 8. USA USA USA USA USA USA USA WE DID IT We have an all time classic.
  7. I expected battleship to basically be one massive, glorious battle between the combined might of the US Navy and some whatever-ish aliens. Lots of CGI, lots of s*** exploding, lots of just plain awesomeness. I've always had a huge interest in the naval side of world war 2, which was kind of the last hurrah of the battleship and ship-to-ship battles. I figured this would put a modern spin on that kind of stuff. Also, Liam Neeson was an admiral, so I thought it'd be cool to see him in locked in combat with some generic alien dudes. What I got was, without spoiling anything (But who cares), the entire US Navy minus two destroyers aeing locked out of the battle by a force field. There was a 3rd Japanese destroyer, but yea... two of the human boats are sunk right off the bat, so its basically a ship not too much larger than the big coast guard boat that parks at Navy Pier for the Mackinaw race every year. That's it. Liam Neeson basically sits on the deck of the Nimitz shrugging his shoulders. No epicness, no huge awesome battle, just boring lameness.
  8. Battleship is the most disappointing movie I've ever seen.
  9. I'm not Lovie's biggest fan, but I never understand all the hate he gets.
  10. Wow, that was just beyond retarded giving it to Asik.
  11. Try working in the marine industry during this, specifically passenger shipping. Its hell, there has been a non stop wave of freakouts for the past month and a half.
  12. To be fair, USF is a big school. But I see what you mean.
  13. Alright Tampa, you heard the man. Get this guy who cant even walk on the field or the gesture is meaningless.
  14. Oh man this will absolutely flop, which is probably why it will never happen.
  15. The biggest problem will be if he doesn't have the same attitude on the court because he is nervous about his knee.
  16. John Lucas, your flight to Legend Heaven is now boarding... do you dare buy a ticket?
  17. Taj will be back, Asik will not. Rose will be back sometime mid-season probably, they'll still have a window next year but a lot of it boils down to if Rose is of the minority of NBA players who make it through one of the injuries and doesn't fall apart.
  18. god I'm going through wildly emotional grief stages right now. I'm alternating between "*SOB* THE WORLD IS ENDING", "f*** YOU REST OF THE NBA, IF WE CANT HAVE ROSE YOU CANNOT HAVE ANYTHING EITHER. ENGAGE SAINTS STYLE GOON-MODE" to "CIRCLE THE WAGONS BULLS, TIME TO MAKE SOME f***ING HISTORY." I need some of those mind control drugs they give 13 year olds who cant pay attention in math class.
  19. No matter how mad I get about this, and trust me I'm f***ing PISSED, I'm not going to blame Thibs. I'm already looking for someone to blame to make me feel better but it was the right call to leave him in.
  20. Bulls will rally hard around this, I doubt Boston or Philadelphia beats us. Bulls will be out for blood. The Heat though, christ would it be amazing to beat them, but I already got my hopes once about this whole injury nonsense so I'm going to save my heart more devastation.
  21. I doubt the Bulls will compete at last year's level again for decades. Pro basketball just died in Chicago. Unless by some miracle he's more-or-less OK, then we dodged more than a bullet... like stepping out the way of howitzer round.
  22. Depends obviously, but even that doesn't really matter. If its torn he's finished being the player he once was, still be a good PG but his superstar days will be over.
  23. Just because the other one longer applies, right?
  24. The issue isn't how the OL payed during the hot streak last year, or how the starting 5 isn't bad (its not, I like the Bears starting 5 actually). Its that depth, injury risk and age are big issues with the Bears... I dont know how much Spencer and Garza have left in the tank or how well Carimi and Williams will stay healthy. Drafting an offensive lineman in the first 3 rounds at least gives us a chance to have a good starter should something bad happen. The whole reason the Bears got so bad on the OL was that it was totally ignored for years. For like 5 seasons we didnt spend a single pick on an OL before round 4... then came panic mode where we had to spend all sorts of free agent $$$ and first round picks out of panic and desperation. I'd rather we not have that happen again, but here we are again back inviting it.
  25. Let's say Hardin and McClellin wind up being OK players, like good enough starters. This team is still the same as it has been since I can remember, good defense and an offense with potential being consistently held back because our Quarterback's are running for their lives. The only difference is now we actually have some good weapons to throw to, so I guess Emery gets credit for that. But the OL will still be bad until we invest in it. Doesn't matter how well our umteenth new safety or defensive end plays, the biggest problem this team has had is going to continue to be a problem. Blatant neglect combined with scouting incompetence.
