The sport books in Vegas have us as a -250 favorite.....lets face it, the public is beginning to appreciate the White Sox!

The problems are not with Comcast....I have Cox in Las Vegas and they lost the feed for a while as well. It must be an ESPN problem.

I saw the following notice in today's Las Vegas Review Journal..... I know he's on the DL and not able to play....but I would have hoped he was still with the team displaying some leadership and support (especially during the most important series of the season). After seeing this, I'm convinced 100% that he will not be a part of this organization in 2006. I was doubtful before, but I have to believe at this point that all communication between the Sox and Frank Thomas have disappeared. He no longer cares about this team and if thats the attitude he has....I say sayonara. I love good T&A as well....but there's a time and a place for it. Wednesday night was not that time. http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/200...s/27254219.html

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Bring in Baj. I'm serious. He can't do worse than half the pen. Oh....and Rally Crede time. No need for Baj.....we will win it here. -
El Duque to start on Saturday
sin city sox fan replied to southsideirish71's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think part of this decision is based upon the desire to get B-Mac some work out of the bullpen. Since this will likely be his use in the playoffs, they want him to become comfortable with being able to warm up and come in mid-game. Although he did a great job of this over the weekend, a couple more stints out of the bullpen would be ideal before the postseason begins. -
When casting your vote, assume that proper rest can be provided to whomever we plan to send out there (don't say it can't be B-Mac cause he just pitched two nights ago). Basically, when setting up our rotation for the postseason.....which of our pitchers to you think gives us the best shot to post a W in game #1?

Don't trade relievers for a starting pitcher!
sin city sox fan replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't even want Marte traded. We all know how much Ozzie values using a lefty when it's a supposed advantage (an advantage that I believe is often overinflated).....so if Marte's not on the staff, it leaves Walker as the only option to replace him (unless we pick up another team's castoff like Embree who is equally as bad). Damaso is not the best reliever in the game....but he's still an effective left hander (a very valuable commodity in today's game). -
I can't believe the talk of including Marte or Pollite in a trade to acquire Burnett. With our lack of offensive production (especially against quality starters), this team needs the best bullpen possible to shut down every potential rally. Furthermore, we really don't need another starter (as long as injuries don't hit our staff). We should easily make the playoffs with the lead we have at this point and 3 quality starters is all that's needed come October. With all the off days in the postseason, the team's ace will usually pitch game's 1, 4, and 7 in a series which goes the distance. I'll take Garland, Garcia, and Buehrle over Burnett or Schmidt anyday (or most other pitchers in the league for that matter). However, we need the depth in the pen to preserve all these 1 run games we seem to play once we get into inning 7 and beyond. I could see including one of our relievers in a trade that upgrades our pen (i.e. Wagner) or produces a bat which greatly improves our offense (Overbay, Griffey, Huff, etc.)......but to include it for a starter is a move that's not necessary and could hurt us come October.

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) I'm not sure if this exactly the right place for this thread, considering I have heard no source of information hearing the White Sox would be interested. I know that Thome is still on the DL, but with the emergence of top prospect Ryan Howard, does anyone think that the Phillies may just want to dump his salary? Considering that rumors are that Frank may be out for the season, I think Kenny should seriously consider acquiring Thome, a powerful left handed hitter is exactly what this team needs, and he could DH. Once again, I did not hear that the White Sox are interested in Thome, I am just curious to see if any of you would like to see Kenny go after him. CWSOX45 Absolutely not.....way too much salary to swallow there in the years to come for a player that is not producing much at this point in his career. I'd rather resign Konerko with those dollars (although I think there may be better options available in the offseason).

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) I've got to believe KW is holding onto Shingo in a potential Giants deal or Florida or something else we don't know about. I would think it wouldn't be hard to just dump Shingo for a spect if KW really wanted to do that. If thats the case, we can't wait to the deadline on Sunday. Shingo's 10 days will be up on Thursday and he'll become a free agent. I guess the longer he stays with us.....the better chance they'll be a big move on on the 28th???
-
All the talk has recently focused on bigger fish such as Burnett, Griffey, Wagner, etc.....however, the 10 days to deal Takatsu expires in just 48 hours. Has anyone heard if we'll be able to get anything for him? I'm not expecting major returns (unless he's part of a package deal).....however, I truly hope we don't just end up releasing him and getting nothing. I think he'd still have some value to several organizations around the league.

The Gigantic all encompassing TRADE THREAD

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 08:23 AM) Damn, I woke up and saw about 5 news pages on this thread and I was sure some deal went down. Now I'm disappointed. I always wake up hoping to see some trade news. I'm really not hoping for a trade just to make a trade.....if Kenny can pull something off that greatly helps this team, I'm all for it. However, I know thats going to be very difficult this year as there's more buyers than sellers. If he can find a team that we can rape and pillage, I'd rather play with the guys we have than gamble on a project or a new mix of chemistry. -

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) i really like the way that oz is in every game...i mean once again he jumped out of the dugout and immediately removed crede from that situation. more importantly thru the year it seems that each sox player respects oz and immediately lets him take over! Hopefully Ozzie is getting tossed during the commercials....we need something to start a spark! -

In their newest player ratings, cbssportsline has all 5 of the White Sox starters ranked within the top 50 in the league! This is quite an accomplishment and I never would have imagined it at the beginning of the year. I'm glad all these guys are living up to their potential though and making this a great year to remember! http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/playerrankin...SP?&start_row=1
