QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 11:50 PM) You don't think he's worthy of that?? That's peanuts today. That's Melky money. Are you saying 5/75 is way too much? You would go for 5/50? 5/60? He's not worth 10-15 mill a year in today's economy? Is that based only on the advanced stats? These figures are all low....I don't see anyway he's signing for less than $20 million per year. Perhaps start with an offer of 6 years / $108 million with the intention of settling somewhere in the neighborhood of 7 years / $154 million. And you don't trade him.....I'd hate to see him enter the HOF wearing any other cap than the White Sox.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) I was thinking straight up for Meadows in Pittsburgh myself That would have been a better move than keeping him

I hate Bummer

I like this Bummer kid

Regardless of what happens in this game, I still wish we would have traded Clippard for a couple more top 100 prospects
-
Does he rank in our top 30 prospects now?
-
Now if Engel had bunted, we could have the start of another 9th inning rally
-
Engel should lay down a bunt damnit! These guys are so stupid!

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 04:05 PM) Because that would be s***ty The hitting by the Sox has been s***ty thus far. Gotta try something different.

Why are none of our guys trying to bunt for a basehit????

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 12:37 PM) Obviously you have something against Avi with your troll statements about what he's worth, etc. So what guys on the team do you like? You've been here since 2005 so you must be a Sox fan. I don't hate Avi at all. As a matter of fact, I want him to be of the White Sox future when we win our next World Series. However, you can't offer someone who wins the league batting title and finishes in the top 3 of MVP vote getting only $6 million dollars per year. That's insulting and would guarantee his exit from the South Side.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 08:55 PM) If he goes to arbitration next year, what is he likely to get? $6-7 mm? Double that and you might be close.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 08:08 PM) Offer him 5/$50...seems fairly safe for both sides IMO. I know he's having an ungodly year...but he really does look like a different player. I would probably go 5/$60M if it got right down to it. I really don't want to trade him for some sketchy unknowns you HOPE turn out worth a crap. Theres no way 5/50 or 5/60 gets it done now. It may have 2 months ago, but now you are likely looking at 8/140 to get it done. Wait til the end of the year and its lkely 8/200. The front office has foolishly continued to ignore the rapid growth in Avi's value.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 01:22 PM) They just won a World Series, and they're set to be the favorites in their division for the foreseeable future. I think that's literally everything you can ask for your team to give you. If the Cardinals are able to steal Avi Garcia from us, the Cubs will not win another division title for a very long time.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 05:37 PM) 8/120?! No way he accepts anything below 12/360. Let's be serious. The market will not give him Bryce Harper type dollars yet (this may change in a year or two if he's not locked up long term) I really think an offer of 8/120 is about FMV at this point and I think he may take it for long term stability. Avi is a future HOFer and I'd hate to see him enter Cooperstown representing another team besides the White Sox.
-
It may be too late as his value has gone through the roof, but I'd offer him an 8 year $120 million extension. If he takes it, he's the centerpiece of our rebuild. If he doesn't, trade him if you can get a package as good (or better) as we got for Sale.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 08:26 PM) Basically, the Samardzija deal. I still think they're going to wait until the end of the season. I watched Mark Teahen hit like this for four months in Kansas City, but not for the full season, he fell off. Just like Beckham his rookie year. Let's not be ridiculous. Mark Teahen couldn't carry Avi's jockstrap.
-
The stranger thing is that we haven't even talked renewal with Avi. I suggested a while back that offer him a 6 year / $72 million extension. His market value has probably gone up $3 million per year since than and if we don't do anything soon, he'll be out of our budget.

That was nice
