  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 08:23 PM) Don't know why he went with Petricka again tonight. Not smart. Because our manager is a bonehead.
  2. The A's are in a serious race for a wild card spot and it would be a shame for Adam Dunn to miss out on the postseason. He accommodated the trade for us when he didn't have to do so and its time for us to repay the favor. I know Sale is pitching so it may be a little tough, but load the lineup with scrubs and go to the bullpen early. Help make sure the donkey plays in October (and if we can eliminate Detroit in the process, its even better)
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 03:48 PM) I don't think I'm wrong in reading this thread as sarcastic. I'm not being sarcastic at all. As I mentioned in the original post, i don't think he did enough to get his number retired so I'm not advocating that action. However, He had was loved by all his team mates and most of the fans during his time in Chicago. He hit some impressive bombs and even gave his best on the mound when the manager asked him to do so. Not doing something to say "thanks for being a great member of the White Sox organization" would truly give a negative reflection on the team.
  4. I know its short notice, but Oakland is visiting the Cell for a 4 game series next week. Not sure if Adam's number is worthy of retiring, but it would be nice for the organization to do something for one of the team's greatest home run hitters of recent history. Hope that Brooks Boyer and company are able to put together something which allows the organization and the fans to say thanks to the big guy.
  5. I hope this doesn't hurt our chances of signing him to a new contract in the off-season. I know Dunn would have given us a "home town" discount previously, but one has to wonder how this trade impacts the viability of that happening.
  6. One thing the rule fails to recognize is ground balls on the infield. In both cases where calls went against the Sox, the catcher literally only had a second to get up behind the plate and get set up to catch the ball. There's no time for them to look and see exactly where their feet are and adjust if necessary. The rule is stupid in all instances, but on sharp ground balls in the infield, the catcher has no chance to be legal.
  7. Today's loss has to be at least the 20th this season that RV has cost us. Incompetence this bad should not be tolerated at McDonalds....yet alone on a major league baseball team (excluding the cubs)
  8. And the best pinch hitter in the game stays on the bench as we have 3 batters k that inning. Good job Ventura.
  9. Why didn't Robin pinch hit paulie for tank this inning? we all saw the strikeout coming and this may be another case of a bad decision costing us the game.
  10. Is Robin going to do anything about this bullpen situation? Or just allow the implosion to continue for the rest of the season? Bring in a hypnotist. Try accupuncture. How about a colon cleansing for the staff? These ideas may seem ridiculous, but doing nothing seems even more ridiculous to me. Heck, I'd even rather try and and have all the righties throw with their left hands. At least they'd have a valid reason for failure at that point and could maybe realize their potential when switching back to normal. Robin acts like this is no big deal and just continue to trot out a new arm every out or two. If we're going to have a POS for our manager, get rid of Ventura and give the job to Mr Hankey. He'd likely command more respect from the players in our dugout.
  11. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 10:55 PM) Since you're using ERA here... Last 2 years... Belly-3.97/2.54 Downs- 2.49/3.15 For those fancy gentlemen here FIP Belly-3.64/3.09 Downs-3.09/3.66 If those guys pitch up to those results and Jones/Lindstrom stay healthy we aren't even having this convo. s*** happens though. Jones went down which messed up all the roles, then Lindstrom went down and even further f***ed up everyones roles. The intentions were good. The results were bad. The career stats back up my belief that our bullpen sucks because of Robin's complete ignorance in using it and lack of defining roles for anyone. He's ccmpletely destroyed the morale and confidence of all our relievers and it would make no difference who was in our pen. With as many things as he's done to damage this team and ruin our playoff chances, I don't see how we can continue to keep him in the position. The time has come for the organization to make a change and there's no need to wait even one day more. Fire Robin now!
  12. This man has got to go. He's absolutely destroyed the confidence of every member of our bullpen.
  13. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 06:51 PM) Know who's ahead of us in both the wild card and the central? KC. They held him out of the first series to face KC. You're exactly right. KC is ahead of us in the standings, but behind the Detroit. It will much easier to catch them than it will be to catch the Tigers. However, moving past the Royals but not the Tigers still leaves us out of the playoffs (with a worse draft pick). For the best chance at the postseason, you have to pitch your best pitchers against the teams you need to make up the most ground.
  14. I am appalled that our pitching staff was set up to have Sale skip this series and let Noesi throw batting practice to the Tigers. We all know that it will be easier to win the division than make the wild card due to the number of teams to pass in the standings. A sweep of this series would have greatly enhanced those chances, but it appears now that the best we can do is win the series 2-1 (which only gains one game in the standings). Ventura should have had this series highlighted when setting up the rotation after the all star break and Sale should have been one of those on the mound (with Noesi not throwing this series). Just another example of mismanagement by our leader Robin and further proof we will never win a World Series with him at the helm.
  15. I can't believe that Robin didn't ask him to start wearing glasses earlier in the season. He should have been told "either wear your glasses or go home"
  16. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 06:49 PM) If sin city had said Robin is just plain bad maybe there wouldn't be so many posts calling it a stupid thread. Maybe some of you can manage to read between the lines. It doesn't take a baseball genius to see Robin's been caught a few times with his pants down ala Steve Lyons , totally oblivious to what's going on around him or incapable of thinking more than a few steps ahead. Some of the best posters on here can see it and I believe they are totally objective. If sin city is trolling then I'd have to say so are the ones who will defend Robin no matter what . It's true the bullpen has been in constant flux and the bench doesn't have much flexibility so Robin is limited in his moves that will work out well thus leaving him open to more criticism. That, however, does not absolve him of doing the best he can with what he has and many of us do not see him doing that. It's not a few times....its 2-3 times per week. If it was a game or two, it could be forgiven. However, when it happens over and over again with the clown never learning a lesson, its time for him to go. Loved Robin as a player......can't stand him as a manager.
  17. Robin cost us another game today with his idiotic moves and its getting frustrating. As I noted in yesterday's game thread, I feel he's personally cost us at least 15 games this season. Instead of having the best record in baseball, we are struggling to reach .500. If he's not the worst, he has to be in the bottom 5 of all time. I really hope this organization realizes that in the final months of season and makes a change before opening day 2015.
  18. Our f***tard manager costs us another W. Thanks Robin for taking a team that should be running away with the division and making us a below .500 club.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2014 -> 06:35 PM) Yep, this is a World Series team except for the manager. Will you be at Zanie's anytime soon? Thats not just my opinion.....records will dictate that fact. Robin has personally cost us at least 15 wins this season (real number is probably somewhere between 20 and 25). Using the bare minimum, our record would be 65-39 without those bonehead decisions which would be the best record in baseball. The best trade we could do this week would be to find a taker for Robin. However, since that isn't going to happen, I hope we go out and block a few holes which help prevent Batman's sidekick from ruining this entire season.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 26, 2014 -> 06:22 PM) Yankees, Blue Jays and Mariners all at +5. If we could win tonight and then complete the sweep tmrw, we'd finish the weekend at only 4 games back for the WC. Looks like all of our moves (Dunn, Beckham, DeAza, Viciedo) will come in August. I hope you are wrong. I know we are playing like one of the best teams in baseball right now, but it would still be nice to add a player or two before the deadline. Robin's incompetence has put us in a hole we have to dig out of, but the talent on this team is capable of winning a World Series if Robin lets the right players decide the outcome of games.
  21. Undefeated since the All Star break! Looks like we'll be buyers after all!
  22. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 07:39 PM) lol Whats so funny? That's 2 games in a row that Tyler has come through with an RBI hit. I'm no fan of Flowers by any means, but I'd love to see his bat come to life in the second half of the season.
  23. I just got in and checked the box score......I see that Flowers has another RBI again tonight. Maybe we don't need to rush out and sign AJ.
