  1. QUOTE (sf_soxfan @ May 5, 2009 -> 07:46 PM) Holy F. I left work at 6:30 pdt and thought the game was in the bag. Picked up dinner, had a beer, took the dog to the park, hung out with my wife and wanted to check the box score only to see us scuffling in the 11th. Jeezus. Did the dog have fun at the park?
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) OMG, that was right down the plate. Keep sitting on your ass though Ozzie. If he says one word there, he's tossed for arguing balls and strikes. Losing your manager is not a good thing in an extra inning game.
  3. I think the Sox win tonight 1-0 on a solo home run by Pods
  4. Colon is on fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is no way we lose tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I would have been pissed if they had called it. If there's a chance to play it, at least give us the opportunity to come back for the win.
  6. If Pods can keep hitting .333 all season, I think there's a spot for him on this team.
  7. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 09:54 AM) When the Sox were playing the Twins on Fox two weekends ago it was funny watching Southpaw move around behind the plate when Liriano was pitching. I don't know if it affected Liriano, but that was the inning he kept walking people. Thats performing like an all star. I wonder if he gets a bonus if selected?
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 02:03 PM) I will wait until the end of May to comment on BA. As far as the White Sox go, we have no leadoff hitter for the forseeable future and big question marks surrounding Linebrink and Jenks. Thome looks absolutely horrible. So does Fields. Nobody swings and misses more on this team than he does. Fathom is right, Josh had a big hit in the first inning, but if Betemit still isn't playing today against a tough RH pitcher, then he'll only have 50-75 AB's all season, after having the best spring of any White Sox hitter. We still look like a .500 team...fortunately, that's where the rest of the division is at, too. Lillibridge can run and defend, and that's it, unfortunately. He just can't cover the outside part of the plate. Lillibridge missed a hit and run today with Anderson running because of the fact he's short and stands way too far away to do anything but inside-out fastballs into RF. Call me crazy....but the way BA is going, he may turn out to be a very serviceable leadoff hitter. He's hitting for a high average, striking out very little, taking pitches that aren't strikes, and he has decent speed. He'll never led the league in stolen bases....but if he can maintain a .300+ average, I think he'll be leading off within a month and could prove to be our answer at the top of the order.
  9. As of this posting, BA is 2 for 2 and has raised his average to .341. At this rate, he may not only be an all star....we may be talking MVP at the end of the season.
  10. I don't even remember making this thread....but since I did, I better start stuffing the ballot box. Vote early. Vote often. Vote for BA.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 10:26 PM) This is a great post. That you...I'm glad to see that others respect the job which Southpaw does. I hope that Kenny never trades him as we have no one in the farm system capable of filling those shoes.
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 10:18 PM) Heh. On the bright side, he is 9-22 his last six games. He's not an all-star, but I'm totally content with how he's playing now. If batting over .400 ain't worthy of all star consideration, than I'm not sure what is. 9 for 22 is about 9 more hits than I would get in 22 at bats (not that I'm an all star....I'm just saying he's that much better than me.) Before he gets named to the American League team though, we should sign him to a 10 year contract for $60 million or so to avoid any costly arbitration setbacks in the coming years. BA deserves our support and tis time to show him that he has it!
  13. Southpaw had to start this year earlier than any other mascot as Mr Obama summoned him to D.C in January. Nonetheless, Southpaw has been a pro all season long and done a great job of interacting with the fans. I think he even taught A.J. how to be a southpaw and sign his name with his left hand. I'm not sure if MLB selects a mascot for each league to attend the all star game.....but if they do, Southpaw should be in St Louis later this summer. He's been on top of his game and definitely having a strong season that deserves recognition. I'm sure he scores lots of chicks with his job (or guys if goes that way instead)....but Southpaw deserves some professional recognition as well and a trip too the all star game should be on the way. Ya da man Southpaw!!!!
  14. He's really stepped up and is playing some superb baseball right now. Wouldn't it be a hoot if we went from worrying about the centerfield position to having an all star centerfielder? It would be a tremendous hoot. An incredible hoot. A hoot beyond belief just a few weeks ago. Cheers to you BA.....this Buds for you. See ya in the all star game!!!!!
  15. I think this is more talk than reality....but interesting nonetheless. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4063800
  16. Does Colon come back out next inning or is it time for MacDougal? Just Kidding
  17. ESPN Gamecast still shows a 99% chance of the twins winning this game.....I can't believe our chances didn't improve to at least 5% after Quentins longball
  18. The comeback has started.....by the time this is all done, we'll win 17-16. Go Sox!!!!!
  19. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 08:28 PM) If we win i bow to you I'd rather have Obama bow to me.....but I guess I'll settle with your bow
  20. Am I the only one that still thinks we win this game?
