QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:03 PM) We're at 193 right now and I'm surprised its got this far, I say 220. SBMI is betting people a grand again, that usually closes threads rather quickly. I think thats his escape clause when the argument overwhelms him. Start throwing around monopoly money and IQ numbers, and VOILA'! Closed thread

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) So then ask me to compare Barry Bonds with Ichiro. They are outfielders who played in a WS. Ichiro was never in a world series. Keep changing the argument Steve, its just funny to watch now
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:57 AM) Malatov threads. Add one seemingly benign topic, mix in one SBIMI, three regular posters, and watch the thread explode. LOL

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:54 AM) Why don't you ask me if I'd rather have Konerko or Bonds? At least they're comparable talent-wise! because he is comparing outfielders, just like you were comparing pitchers, randomly with the criteria being whether they were in and won a world series. Come on lawyer, stay with the flow.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) It would be more embarassing WHEN you are handing me $1,000.00. How/when do you want me to prove you wrong (again)? the online bet means nothing. Quit posturing, you have been so wrong in your last couple arguments its just silly
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) It doesn't. Admittedly I don't watch NL baseball, I don't like it. I think it's inferior. Then why are you making all these crazy claims?
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) If you insist. (You're the genius here, not me.) There it is again. You always have to bring this up in your arguments.
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) There are intangibles that need to be considered that don't necessarily show up on stat sheets. MB is a great defensive pitcher. He's a leader, a great clubhouse guy, and a "stopper". Hmm, So how does that make him better than Smoltz, Clemens, Santana, Peavy, etc...
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:36 AM) You can't say how he'd perform in the playoffs. Look at Barry Bonds...arguably the best player in the last 20 years. Check out his playoff numbers...they suck. One could argue that he's not clutch; that he doesn't perform well under pressure. We cannot make an assumption on Santana either way, because we have yet to see him pitch in a playoff. What about Barry Bonds performance in the 2002 playoffs?
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) And they guy with the lower era could have that cuz his team is better defensively and/or cuz he pitches in the NL. come on, stay on your topic. We are talking about Wins, the most important stat, not ERA. Your argument is falling apart at the seams

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) I asked, if you had a WS on the line and had to pick one of these guys to win your game 7, who do you pick? I'd go with MB (or Pedro) (proven CLUTCH pitchers). No, you started this fun thing off by stating that Buehrle is better than all of the above mentioned pitchers. Then you changed it to "I would take Buehrle over (insert pitchers name) or Clemens because Clemens is old" Same story, different thread.
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) Over the last 5 yeras, who has the most wins out of all the pitchers mentioned? You guys have access to all the stats...educate me. Wins, the holy grail of pitching stats.
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) I agree. Over the course of their respective careers, Clemens is much better than Buehrle. However, in 2006 AND beyond, I'd rather have Buehrle than Clemens. (Rocket is 43!!!) who asked that? What does that have to do with what we are arguing about?
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) Dude...you just said that I can't base my opinion of MB based one his having one good season...he has had as many, if not more good seasons than any of the pitchers I have just mentioned. Oh yeah? Prove it mr smarty pants. If you are gonna shoot your mouth off repeatedly, back it up.
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) Except that if I said for example, that 2+2=5, that is a statement that can be proven wrong, whereas if I say I'd rather have Mark Buehrle pitching for me than Roger Clemens, you cannot prove me wrong. but thats the funny thing. You didnt say that. You said, and continue to say that Mark Buehrle is BETTER than the above mentioned pitchers. You saying that you would rather have Buehrle start over Clemens is you changing your argument mid-stream, again.
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:19 AM) Based on the last 5 seasons! BTW, if that's the case, how could you say Peavy, Halliday, Santana, Prior, Zambrano are even as good as Buehrle? They have had 1, maybe 2 good years each. Im sorry, do you even watch baseball?
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) You're right about Clemens being the best of all time...but RIGHT NOW, I'd take Buehrle. 5 years ago, I'd have taken Rocket. How is that even possible? Rocket had an insanely great season last year, he was better than Buehrle in just about every facet.
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:12 AM) The point is, Buehrle's credential are every bit as good, if not better, than any of the pitchers previously mentioned. Yes, but you fail to prove that point. And everything on just about every one of their resume's is better than Buehrle. Noone is saying he sucks here, but you are putting him ahead of some of the elite pitchers of the last 10 years, based on last season.
-
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:59 AM) See if you people can comprehend what I am sayin...IN MY OPINION Buehrle is better than the above mentioned pitchers, and IN MY OPINION if a WS was on the line, and I could have any of those guys to pitch for me in Game 7, I would choose Buehrle. Hmmm, well maybe you should say that instead of asking "What have those other pitchers done? What have they won?", while saying that Mark Buehrle is better than all of the above pitchers. Just MY OPINION
-
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:30 AM) clement makes sense, no? LOL, not for the Reds. I can see him being a righty version of Eric Milton in that park. But the Reds will probably do it anyways because they feel they need pitching and want to get rid of Austin Kearns for whatever reason.

And to top this doozy off, there was an unlicensed 15 year old driving these kids around. Who knows if it had anything to do with the accident, but who is the moron letting a 15 year old drive around 6 little kids?

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5274502 Regression? Come on man, the White Sox offense was awful for most of last season, I dont think there is much possiblity of regression.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) The ball Paulie hit for a grand slam in the WS and other Sox stuff is on display at Harry Caray's restaurant. Great. Now I hope they dont blow it up and turn it into spaghetti sauce, because thats what they are prone to do with baseballs at that resteraunt for some strange reason.....

Her bones must have been really small, a human's average height was considerably smaller back then. Strange that they had to use radiocarbon dating to determine that she was so old, you would think bones that old would be obvious. What do I know though, Im no Gil Grissom.
