  1. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) What have they done? Won? MB was (is) the best starter on the best starting staff in MLB. You are kidding me right? Look at the list of pitchers that you said MB was better than. What have they won? Andy Petitte (4) Randy Johnson(1) Pedro Martinez(1) John Smoltz(1) Dontrelle Willis(1) Thats an 8 combined world series championships right there, if I did my math correctly. And I havent even listed their combined playoff and World Series appearances Now lets look at the Cy Youngs Randy Johnson (5) Pedro Martinez(3) Johan Santana(1) John Smoltz(1) Barry Zito(1) Thats a combined 11 Cy Youngs. But sure, what have they won? edit: ooops, looks like I forgot to add Roger Clemens to that list. Well, add another 7 Cy Youngs to the list, and an additional World Series won.
  2. heh, now it looks like a baseball lightsaber fight.
  3. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) Loaiza was that year. so let me get this argument right - you're saying the best pitcher on the best team in baseball isn't an ace? Does that make any sense? How do you define Ace? Is Mark a shutdown pitcher? No, he isnt. Johan Santana is a shutdown pitcher, an Ace. Mark can have games where he shuts down the opposition, for sure, but pitchers like Santana, Pedro, Schilling(when healthy), Halladay, they will shut you down just about every time. I love Mark, and he is the Ace of our staff(meaning that he is our number 1), but he isnt an Ace pitcher. The closest we have to that is probably Contreras, if he can carry on his performance from last year.
  4. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) compared to Jonathan Quinn, Orton is Dan Marino. Sexy Rexy on the other hand, is the most overrated player in this town not named Kerry Wood. You and White Sox Josh will have tons to talk about. You arent by chance a Michigan fan, are you?
  5. I was just gonna say, Jim Gray is reporting that Artest has accepted the trade.
  6. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) Buehrle is better than ANY one of the above mentioned pitchers. Thats a homer thing to say.....and way wrong

  8. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) The names will all change after the Senior Bowl results come out. I wonder who is going to be the next converted-from-QB 1st rounder. It always happens to someone, last year it was Matt Jones.
  9. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) As long as priest do not have the right to marry someone other than God...then this ain't gonna stop. And I hate to say that, but it's true. Well, it will never stop because there are freaks out there in every walk of life, but it should definitely slow down. Thats pretty ignorant. If a guy isnt married that isnt going to turn him into a child molester. You connected dots that werent even on the same page, not even the same book.
  10. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 01:27 PM) he's an ace - he started the all-star game last year!!!! Esteban Loaiza started the All Star game a few years back, that doesnt mean he is an ace. Buehrle flirts with being an ace, but he isnt a complete ace right now. He could be, but I guess thats up to him
  11. http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-priest25.html Everytime the church claims they are going to stop this complete and utter breach of faith, something like this pops up again where they are attempting to cover it up without solving the problem. At some point a ballsy DA is going to charge one of the superiors in the church with conspiracy to cover up a crime, because all that keeps happening is a coverup.

    American Idol

Its all about maximizing your 15 minutes of fame rock. Who would have thought that William Hung would have done anything besides work at your local walmart after his audition? He may have sucked then and he may suck now, but he has made some serious money since that episode.
  13. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) Anyone think he can make it into the NFL? I thought he had a slight chance before the robbery. Now, not at all.
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) But no. Put the guy down to build yourself up. It's the American way. Carry on. Well, more the messageboard way. But you are right. Ive been flaming a little more than often lately on newbies, some of deserved, some of it not so much.
  15. QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 11:12 AM) Sometimes its futal to reply, its like arguing with my 9 year old. All emotion, no sense. Do people get sleep or do they stay up at night worried if Buerhle will be here in 2008. I have been replying for the last few weeks out of humor more than anything. Once the season starts, the worthless posts will be coming in the hundreds. Right now, its just fun because there isnt a humungous amount of things to talk about, but it is getting a bit silly.
  16. QUOTE(rventura23 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) The only reason I feel somewhat sorry for him is because he was constantly given horrendous advice by the people around him (which is his own fault for listening to) and despite a bad attitude attitude sometimes, he generally wanted to great and worked hard. He made lots of bad decisions but it was the advice he recieved surrounding those decisions that made his situation an absolute disaster. He should have admitted his wrong and tried to fix his situation at Ohio State, where he would have forever been a hero. How did he work hard? I must have missed that when he was drinking grey goose in his gatorade at an NFL preseason camp, skipping combine workouts because his mom told him to, and weighing in before the draft 20 lbs overweight. He worked hard exactly one season, in the Fiesta Bowl National Championship season. Then he expected everyone to bend over backwards for him, and it didnt happen. You should feel sorry for the people who gave him multiple chances only to be let down by Clarett.
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) The bestest GM in the entire earth has targetted Coco Crisp, thats why. LOL, basically the same thing I said.
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) Oh, and Crisp and PODS had almost Identical ZR this year and the same RF while playing left field.. I guess PODS would have been the best CF'er in the league as well. Only if he were traded to Boston.... IKBIC
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) You are on a roll, just when I thought you couldnt come up with a better idea than Konerko+thome=world series, here comes this. You are a genius my friend. Creating quite the body of work, isnt he?
  20. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 10:21 AM) defensive ability in centerfield: crisp>damon please, pal, enough. based on what?
  21. building a wall does nothing but give the immigrants somethign else to climb over. Its a waste of time, money and manpower. There are so many things that could be done besides building a wall. But something does have to be done, because it is getting silly. Last night I watched Dennis Millers new stand up routine on HBO, and he said that if you go watch the border at night with night vision goggles it looks like the beginning of the Boston Marathon(lol).

    American Idol

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 09:07 AM) That black woman was my absolute favorite Idol contestant EVER! At one point after being told she wasn't going to Hollywood she said exactly this. "I know I am gonna make it big. You wanna know how? 10 of my motherf***in psycic friends told me so. So there!" I couldn't stop laughing for like 5 minutes. You must be talking about the girl in the silver hooker get-up. She was cracking me up too. She said "When Paula abdul walks out on the street, noone knows she is a celebrity. But when I walk out on the street, they think I could be a celebrity. Whats that "Straight up now tell me" s***? I could do that, thats nothing, no big deal. Im gonna be famous....etc." The kid that sang "It cuts like a knife" was cracking me up too, but I felt really bad for him when he started begging to sing another song because he knew that he was out.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 09:34 AM) I don't know about you guys, but I think this is Detroit's division to win. But those Indians, they will be the thorn in their sides. Its gonna be between the two of them, as far as I am concerned.....
  24. I wonder what disease he had that was wasting him away like that? Thats pretty sad to be in and out of the hospital so much and dying by the age of 40.

    American Idol

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) Didn't it appear every other man featured within this last hour has had a lisp, or otherwise feminine voice? I wonder if this is a subtle dig at the activists claiming Powell (and thus, American Idol) discriminated against gays. The one person in particular--who sang Aladdin--was told he resembled Sylvester Stallone's sister. I also find it odd how the second contestant featured sang Kelly Clarkson, whom declined American Idol from airing her music. Coming up next is the crazed black woman they've been promoting all show. Should be great. She relented and allowed her music to be used after everyone threw a fit.
