QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) You guys are not giving MR. Reinsdorf and the other investors enough credit. These are astute, brilliant businessmen; they are not going to run a business entity with the sole purpose of breaking even. That's absolutely ludicrous. Well they sure as s*** dont run it to lose money.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Now I know you are full of it. Would you care to back down, or would you like to be proven wrong again.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) I stand by what I said about my intelligence. I am an attorney. (My I.Q. is in the high 130s.) I have brokered multi-million dollar deals. Most of all, I am intelligent enough to know that there is NO way Jerry and his co-investors have only split even over the years. That is preposterous. Really? Im the pope, nice to meet you.

That just blows my mind that she would have to sue to find out why they did that. If she had flesh eating bacteria all and toxic shock syndrome, dont you think she would have had an idea about it before she went into labor? Holy cow, this scares the hell out of me.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) Rock...I have forgotten more than you'll EVER know. I can guarantee you that. I am not advocating putting the Sox in debt...let's just use up more of the PROFITS to give us the best chance of defending our crown. Oh, oh, oh, nominated for post of the month! wait, no green? you are serious?

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) If you're satisfied with just contending...that's fine for you. I'm not. I want at least 1 more championship. I don't care if we suck in 2010, especially if we repeat, three-peat, etc. Hmm, didnt realize that Abreu was the missing piece on a team that won the world series and already added a 200 inning pitcher, one of the best left handed bats in the game, and a super-utilityman. You are right, Kenny hasnt done enough to win it all. :headshake

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) It'll be a cold day in Hell when I can get schooled by you, "professor". There is a report going around that there is a blizzard in Iraq, now that you mention it

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) BUT...if I wanted to borrow money against the value of the house, it has increased by $50K! And its so easy to compare borrowing against your house to pay off a debt below 50,000 to borrowing against a 300 million dollar business to pay an athlete who may or may not give you the return you desperately need to pay back your debts, isnt it? You dont have to tell us you arent a math major, we already know.

Wasnt something really wrong with Molina's arm in the playoffs and towards the end of the year? Didnt he get hit on the inside of his elbow or something?

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) More than doubled? Also, I'm pretty sure that teams share merchandising revenue. What else do you got? I dont know, but it seems he might be a few marbles short....

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) speaking of which, did y'all hear that Shoop is a finalist for the Raiders head job. Al Davis' mind at this age is now to be considered armed and dangerous. Al Davis is notorious for hiring cheap coordinators that noone thinks much of, this doesnt surprise me at all.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 02:38 PM) I don't know the final figures, but the Sox made a s***tload of money in 2005. They have more than doubled their season ticket fan base. They have to had made millions on world series related sales. They cannot be hurting for money. (I hate when rich people "cry poor"!) have you ever operated on a budget in your life? Just because you made X amount this year, this month, this day, it doesnt mean you will make the same amount next year, next month, next day. A 95 million dollar payroll is far from crying poor. The Sox moved from a mid-level budget to an upper-level budget in one season, and you want them to mortgage even more of tomorrows money to another player. What happens if there is an injury(God forbid)? The Sox have no wiggle room because everything is spoken for. I would be happy if they didnt stick Abreu in left field and see what they have in Contreras, at least he is moveable if he doesnt work out.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 02:38 PM) first of all, just a reminder. nothing has been completed as of right now. second of all, marte is twice the prospect that escobar was during that trade, and suggesting that these two deals have any similarities besides the fact that the indians recieved prospects is ridiculous. And you were holding back so well.....

QUOTE(bmags @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) LOL, the foreman grill episode was so funny, seeing the car crash and ...ahh, this show is brilliant...i really was worried it wouldn't translate in the US but they got the right actors. Cause Coupling sure as hell didn't translate well. Coupling was so funny and the US version was PAINFULLY boring.... Yeah, Dwight being normal and nice to everyone was really funny. My favorite part was when Pam hugged him goodbye at the end, because she knew he wouldnt be like that again. LOL, there is at least 3 parts in every episode that just crack me up. Im really looking forward to the DVD collections

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) 1. We'd be adding a Gold Glove. 2. It's not YOUR money! The Sox can more than afford to add Abreu! Still playing Fantasy GM I see.....

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 09:57 AM) All of you Jordan slurpers need to quit hating on Kobe. He's not better than Jordan, everyone knows that. Right now, he's the best player in the league. He's got 3 rings. He could win more. He just dropped 81 in a game. He's a perennial all-star and a first team all-defense. The guy himself wouldn't even say he's better than Jordan, but lord, give him some credit. The guy is a beast. Ha, You Kobe slurpers need to see the first question of the thread which asks "Is Kobe better than Michael Jordan?" I know Kobe is good. But when proposed the question, I have to answer it.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 09:48 AM) They are much better when he is coaching a team I don't care about. Yeah, but he made it easy for me not to care about the Bears at that time. At the end, all of his press conferences were comical.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 09:41 AM) The only guy on the court that could guard MJ was MJ. MJ always had problems with Mitch Richmond guarding him. He even said a few times the only guy who could guard him was Richmond. But that probably means he was "held" to 25 points.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 09:43 AM) Was there ever a good Dave Wanstedt press conference? I dunno. I thought they were all good. You just have to have a twisted sense of humor, I guess.

Kobe has tried to be Michael throughout his whole life, he just cannot be Michael. I mean, he even screwed up the mistress on the side worse than MJ did.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 09:30 AM) For a one to win the Cy Young, the White Sox need to do a better job developing their pictures. I suggest they hire this girl, Martha, who works at the Wal-Mart by me. She takes great care of my pictures. I dont know about that. I heard Martha has been accused of "doctoring" some pictures, to give them a little more strength and definition. Is she liscensed?

QUOTE(samclemens @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) my favorite part was when that trailor trash latent queer was asked by randy jackson why he was "different" and simon burst out laughing Man, you need to reign yourself in. you oughtta think before you type, this is pretty rude, even by SL&P standards.
-
QUOTE(samclemens @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) stupid b****es. well, she can blow me, but as a business owner, i would never hire her. hell, id even throw a f*ck her way Wow. A little over-dramaticized, arent we?

Kendra Davis vs. Michael Axelrod
Kyyle23 replied to kevin57's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) no one is at fault, THEY WERE JUST ARGUING, if it was two normal fans i don't think axlerod would be suing. just because a player ran into the stands doesn't give him any grounds to sue on. Correct me if i'm wrong here but i didn't see davis punch axlerod or anything, so he can get his publicity but he will not see a dime. it isnt about Antonio hitting the guy, Axelrod said that Kendra Davis scratched him in the face and Antonio Davis slandered his name when he called him drunk and acted like he pushed Kendra.
