QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) That was it.. Weird show. very wierd. But once you get the gist of everything thats going on, its tremendously funny. Quirky is a word I would use.

I saw the National Geographic documentary about him. They said he used to go up to them and kiss them sometimes, and that he would pet them and do all kinds of different things around them. It really is amazing that he lasted 13 summers.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 09:32 AM) I never watched this show before, and likely never will again, but last night there was a line where one Dr asks another (sic) what's more embarassing and one of the choices was being a lifelong Cubs fan... Anyone else watch/see this show and catch the line..? I saw it. That was hilarious Good first two shows for the season, they did some crazy stuff yesterday.

Maurice Clarett accused of armed robbery
Kyyle23 replied to aboz56's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Then sits around watching his buddy Lebron James make bazillions right out of high school, takes too much time off, and is horribly out of football shape when he goes to Denver. Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser were discussing this on PTI the other daym and Tony mentioned that it is widely known that Clarett was very jealous of LeBron being able to jump straight to the NBA and make all of those millions of dollars in contracts and endorsements, while he had to wait it out playing football at Ohio St. Maurice Clarett always had a high sense of self entitlement and couldnt understand why he couldnt do the same thing, because for his entire life nobody told Maurice "No". I think the window of opportunity finally slammed shut on this character. Clarett is going to end up in Sports Trivial Pursuit as the answer to this question: "Which College Football Player screwed up his life almost as bad as Lawrence Phillips?" -

Maurice Clarett accused of armed robbery

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) I heard he had a really good 40 time when he ran away from the scene of the crime. The witnesses said he had some really good moves too. Just like some of the other thugs in pro sports today (Jamal Lewis), I am sure he will get another chance and sign on with some desperate team. Those witnesses must have been his agents then, Clarett hasnt had good moves or a good 40 time since 2003. -
QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) Well, if it was Balta1701, I would have to take this seriously. he has almost 8,000 posts, since April! Wow, he is filled with baseball 411. Balta is too busy debunking MLB trade rumors to have time to make them up. Who is he, Bruce Levine?

I think Brett knows that if he sticks it out another year, the Packers could very well screw him over and not address their problems on the line again. Brett knows that there is only so much more of this... ...that he can take. And the Bears defense isnt going anywhere for quite some time.

Clarett turned himself in. This young man is turning himself into a pale imitation of Mike Tyson with all of his tremendously stupid personal mistakes and how they are affecting whatever career he had going for him. http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/5210528 -
Dayn Perry's crystal ball. Yanks 2006 champs

Actually Dayn Perry works for baseball prospectus, as Try Wingo told me the other day. I didnt realize that, but it tells me why he has strange stat fetishes. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 06:21 PM) Ahh, so THAT'S why I've never heard of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.... They were big for about a year after the movie "Swingers" came out. They had a couple of songs on the soundtrack and were in the movie. But swing bands are a tough to keep in the spotlight. Fun to see live, though.

I just want this drama to be over. Im sick of the season-long guessing game and everyone trying to gloss over his current numbers by talking about the old days. Yeah, he had a bad line, and lost his wide recievers and running backs. But the guy threw about 29 interceptions, and against the Bears in particular it wasnt the lack of line, WRs, or RBs. It was the constant deep ball chucking and ill advised throws that he used to be able to get away with. I dont want to hear morons like Madden and Bill Maas talk about him like he is the best thing since sliced bread while he is making these bad plays. I understand the guy was f***ing phenomenal, but these guys are paid to talk about what they see, not what they saw 5-10 years ago. Its time Brett walked away. the Green Bay packers decided that they didnt want to pony up the money every year and win a championship, and Brett is going to have to recognize that and walk away while his legs still work.

Did anyone see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy completely blow their lip sync cover while doing their halftime show today? It was worse than Ashley Simpson, they were pretending to play their instruments and 3 bandmembers started to try and sing their chorus, but nothing happened. So then the guitar player starts laughing and is just holding the guitar while a guitar riff is playing over the speakers, the lead singer started singing about a full second after his voice comes on the speakers, and the whole band looked like they just didnt think that they needed to make it look realistic. I was really dissapointed. I saw them in concert about 6 years ago, and I never thought they would resort to something like this. I mean, everyone knows that lip sync-ing happens. But if you are gonna do something like that, ON NATIONAL TV, at least sell your product. I hope someone calls them out for this, its not fair for Simpson to get raked over the coals for the same thing, even though i could care less about her career.

NFL Coaches Firings Galore!

Wow. This is gonna change the face of cheeseland for a while. Rodgers looked more like Joey Harrington than he did Eli Manning when he came in for Brett Favruuuh a few weeks ago. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) After tonight, you can say goodbye to our Offensive Line Coach and to our starting RT Rob Pettiti. Is Pettiti a free agent? On a related note, is Larry Allen signed for another 20 years? -
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 10:11 AM) So, you're saying that Jeter isn't a good defensive SS? Do you even watch baseball?? I will say he isnt as great as he is made out to be. He gets the job done and gets too much airtime when he makes a good play. I appreciate his bat a hell of alot more than I appreciate his glove. And yes, I do watch baseball. Just like everyone else here.

Jeff Blake Appreciation Thread

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 02:06 AM) 7 of 8 for 44 yards and a score....what a throw to Gage!! But the most important part? He MANAGED THE GAME, NO TURNOVERS!!! I really think we should start Blake in the 1st playoff game, he can complete passes AND manage the game, he's like Orton and Grossman all rolled into 1 God-like QB!!! Did you see that Marino-like pass from Blake to Gage? I dont think Grossman could have done that. -

I dont know, I thought their pen was much better last year with Tom Gordon in the mix. On paper it looks like their pen improved, but we all know what intense pressure does to Farnsworth, who knows if Dotel will ever be what he was before his injury, and Ron Villone is living off of his good 1st half with Seattle. I wont say this pen is good until I see it perform. -
Bears vs. Vikings Game Thread

I think its time to make a "Jeff Blake Appreciation Thread", ASAP. Hey White Sox Josh, your boy Orton sure looked like a superbowl QB today. Someone needs to tell him the triple head pump fake only works when it is Purdue vs Coastal Carolina. -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:21 AM) I guess innocent until proven guilty doesn't apply to certain people. Depends. Balco tipped the scales and made it impossible for us, as the regular person, to decipher who was or was not juicing, and the players union did their best to cover up any and all wrongdoing until Congress stepped in. So we were left with bits and pieces of grand jury testimony, Jose Cansecos book(which was WIDELY ridiculed and questioned, but actually turned out to hold weight) and players pointing fingers. Sure, noone ever saw Barry Bonds take steroids(or hasnt admitted it yet), but Gary Sheffield had no problem telling everyone that Barry gave him the cream. Does that make Bonds guilty? Not to some, but it sure makes me think that he is(well, that and the pictures throughout his career that playout like Bruce Banner morphing into the Incredible Hulk). For most of his career Miguel Tejada was in BALCO central, its not out of the realm of possibility that he saw Giambi get paid and decided he wanted to jack his numbers up to the next level with Victor Conte's lab. And for KW, he needs to have no doubt in his mind. If he thinks that Tejada could possibly be involved, he needs to stay the f*** away, proof or no proof. It just isnt as easy as saying "Innocent until proven guilty"

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) dude your sig=priceless I thought you would appreciate that

Im waiting for Tejada to stop reiterating his trade demand, to tell you the truth. We all know. He doesnt have to keep telling ESPN he wants to be traded and continue throwing his team under the bus for lack of action.
