Grossman Upgraded to 2nd string
Kyyle23 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) Kyle Orton had a good game that day. Don't blame that one on Orton. I want the Bears to win as much as you do Josh. But you are clinging to minute shreds of evidence that Orton deserves to remain quarterback of the Bears, and trying to rationalize to yourself that Grossman is bad, not injury-prone. If Grossman is healthy, he needs to play. I fought tooth and nail to believe that Orton was more than a mere rookie, but he isnt. That doesnt mean that I think that Orton is going to be the next Krenzel, because I think Orton is going to have some success in the NFL, but I also think that he is going to need the 3 year learning curve that is commonly associated with quarterbacks. You want the Bears to win, right? -

Grossman Upgraded to 2nd string
Kyyle23 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) Mike McMahon and Koy Detmer are much worse. This does not make Orton good. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Has anyone else noticed the complete lack of Bears pics that Sportsline is dishing out. They had a total of 1 pic from the Bears-Packer game. I expected to see at least one picture of Brett Favre getting popped. There were more than two times that he was hit without knowing it was coming, Mike Brown and Peanut Tillman are the ones we remember. I thought the most impressive hit was when Tommie Harris was in the backfield at the snap and popped Favre during the handoff causing a fumble. Not only was he in the backfield at the snap, but he unloaded on Favre, AND caused a fumble. I was hoping there would be a picture of it somewhere.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) Oddly enough, Coulter is not the biggest right wing wingbat to come through UConn's doors. I contend that that specific honor go to the Ultimate Warrior. Anne Coulter turned it into an easier question and answer session. The Ultimate Warrior threatened to start shaking the ropes. And we all know what happens when Ultimate Warrior shakes the ropes. People start getting hurt!

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) The more I think about, the harder it's going to be to replace the best lead off hitter we have on our roster. and first baseman.

I dont know if anyone is watching ATH, but Bill Plaschke and Woody Paige have officially cemented their place in the hall of not-well and insane. They both just predicted that the Boston Red Sox will sign Roger Clemens after the World Baseball Classic. Plaschke went even further and said that Roger Clemens wants to go into the hall of fame as a Red Sox. Last I heard, both the Boston organization and fanbase have been pretty pissed at Roger and vice versa. I think Plaschke and Paige are dreaming out loud. Its such a sham that two guys who literally make stuff up and get called out on it can continue to preach their bulls*** as truth.

You can rant and rail about how bad Sports Illustrated columnists and articles are, but you can rarely take anything bad from their photos. I have been going to the NFL photo galleries week to week to see the Bears photo theyput up, and they never disappoint. This weeks photo of Lance Briggs attempting to remove Bubba Franks helmet, complete with head, is no exeption. Enjoy http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedi.../content.1.html

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) Your snapshot of Marte consists of blown saves and various forms of bed wetting. Im sorry Flash, Marte had enough snapshots to fill an album in 2005. He was the liability of the bullpen, not a component.

QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Is the original post ever going to be updated? I have updated it a few times. follow the thread through, I update with a new thread everyday, and only edit in updates through the day. The messageboard is incredibly simplistic and you cant do much on the board.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) I dislike Coulter as much as anyone here...but why the Hell do you go to a talk if you don't want to hear what the person has to say? I understand either keeping your mouth shut or booing when the rest of the crowd erupts into cheers too...but seriously booing to the point of disruption? Of course, this could always be a classic Coulter over-reaction, and she just stopped because there were more people booing her applause lines than cheering them, but if that's not the case...and people seriously weren't letting her talk, then I can't figure out why you'd even go. Come on Balta, its called a protest. This lady appeases one side, and aggravates the other. Extremists are sure to cause trouble, whether it be a liberal or conservative speaker.

refresh my memory, who was he traded for?
-
I think I heard Gammons mention last year that the Red Sox fancy Youkilis as their 2B of the future more than their 3B, but I could be wrong.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) Who is the "Used up 3b"? That would be Mike Lowell Yes he is, thats why i said that he would be holding boston over a barrel for a starting position. They have been high on this guy for years, and he hasnt been able to crack the show. Maybe this is the year for him, but I think this guy is the product of the Boston hype machine. They have been trying to unload him in trades for a while, and now they bring in Mike Lowell and Andy Marte. If they bring in two 3B immediately in the offseason, do you really think that Boston thinks highly of Youkilis?
-
If you guys are interested, I have started listing all of the trades, rumors, and FA signings here: http://forums.prospero.com/n/mb/message.as...sox&msg=1613.11 There were so many trades that came in under the radar, I thought I would try and keep them all in one place. I update everything daily, so If you come across a signing, trade, or rumor that I havent listed, post it and I will add to the list.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) Anthrax said it best. It's a prime example of f***ing dumb. LOL. Like I said, it was only a hypothetical trade (as far as i could tell, there were no links), but it gives you a good idea of what they think of the Cub organization.
-
QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) Gammons is reporting on ESPN- blurb on ESPN.com. LINKY Andy Marte is one of the top prospects in the game. The Red Sox must be convinced they are getting Lugo... If you were the D-Rays, wouldnt you just stick it to the Red Sox and keep Lugo? That would be hilarious, the Red Sox let Cabrera go, they sign Renteria, then they trade Hanley Ramirez, then trade Renteria because they think Lugo is in the mix. and now they have no shortstop, a used up 3B, and a prospect 3B, and probably have to hope that Graffanino wont hold them over a barrel for a starting position. No, I cannot tell that Boston doesnt have a GM. Not at all.
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) Hows 4th place sound this year? How does it sound? Optimistic. And that isnt even a joke.

Former Purdue coach Keady to assist Raptors
Kyyle23 replied to greasywheels121's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I have been reading about this for a while. the rumor is that Keady will eventually become the Head Coach, Sam Mitchell will go through the end of the season and Keady will take over. -
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) In my college speeh classes I would always begin with, "just so you all know, you're all stupider than me". It seemd to work really well. I always followed that with "And frat boys are even worse"
-
http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/12/08/coulter.row.ap/index.html Thats right Anne, if you dont grab your audience with your introduction speech, then call them all stupid. Then you will have their attention.

QUOTE(Gavin @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) Christ, I wish my siblings were as big fans as me. That'd make christmas hella-easy. My GF is a sox fan but she loved Rowand, now he's gone. Thanks a lot, KW. So you wanna give Thome back? Chicks dig the long ball. Dont worry, your GF will learn to love Thome. -
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) Wait a sec They would get Brett Myers, Aberu(sp), Zito and still they said no...WOW, that is f***ing dumb. Thats my point That is a prime example of overvalue.

Brucey has been slightly more reliable this year.
