  1. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Mike.. What you expect.. Most Cubs fans tell me that They have the better pitching staff..when healthy. No, its Bret. Mike Myers is a Free Agent, and would not be part of a 3 team deal.
  2. Did you see the end of the article? Big Frank the Brave? When did the NL start using the DH?
  3. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Was that Mike Myers or Bret Myers? Hopefully the first. If not, then they have serious issues. Actually you are correct, and I was way off. Bret Myers, Abreu, and Zito for Prior, Hill, and 3-4 throw-ins. Obviously this was a hypothetical 3 way trade, but jeez, thats a whole lot of overvalue-ing Prior right there. Thats one starter who went 14-13 with a 3.86 ERA who is a former Cy Young, another starter who was 13-8 with a 3.72 ERA(Myers) and Bobby Abreu, who is just a pimp. And Prior would hold up this deal for Cubs fans? Wow.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) What time/channel? I think TNA is on at 7 or 8 on Spike Tv
  5. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) Jose Macias? :puke Graffanino please. I wouldnt mind Vizcaino though. He is old, but he just keeps producing
  6. I just read this post on a Cubs Free Agent board, when I was looking for rumors Wow, you could get a 5 tool player(Abreu), a former Cy Young winner who is still under 30(Zito) and Mike Myers to relieve, for Mark Prior, a minor league pitcher(Rich Hill), and 3-4 spare parts(I am assuming he means minor leaguers or utility players), and this guy thinks it is a bad trade because of Priors potential? Thats just ridiculous. I found this post too, and I laughed my ass off at the Dave Wannstedt reference
  7. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) So with AJ being on a pro wrestling show, tonight is the night where our post-championship reign jumps the shark blasphemy. Dont ever compare a extraordinarily bad episode of Happy Days to the White Sox Championship reign. Besides, the White Sox havent done "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" yet, so there is still hope.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) Will they compete for anything more than third place in the next decade? They just spent 100 million dollars on gambles. They traded for a first baseman... now have four guys that play 1st and 3rd. Only of only one of them can dh and none of them play the outfield. As i see it one of those guys will be wasted unless someone converts to the outfield really quick. I like overbay... i think he is overated and underated in some sense. But this move makes no sense unless they have another deal in following this one to move one of hinkse, koskie, hillenbrand. They don't have to worry. The mets and orioles are still ahead of them stupidity wise. They arent done making moves. Im gonna wait until the end of the week before I proclaim them as the worst run organization in the league. The moves they have made have been intriguing to me. You are right about the gambles, but you cant have only "sure" things.
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) White sox josh is gonna be mad about this.
  10. It means his arm truly will fall off soon.
  11. I just want the Bears to win. If it is Orton, then so be it. If it is Grossman, well thats just great too.
  12. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) Did anyone else watch the SC on Sunday night, where Berman botched the plays of the week and said "I need to run that again." And they went to a commercial and came back and tried doing it again, and he did totally different catch phrases I saw that too. It was really bad. I didnt really think about it until you just said it. The strangest thing was that he botched the first read, then they went to commercial(after he said he was gonna do it again, and then after a black screen), ESPN then ran 2 other segments, and then Berman took another crack at it. It was as if Berman said to them "Lets run something else for a few segments so they forget about that."
  13. I dont know if any of you are watching ESPNews right now, but Linda Cohn was just interviewing a guy who wrote a book of the Top 50 darkhorse moments in Sports. The poor guy who is getting interviewed got a frog in his throat about halfway through the interview, and couldnt stop coughing for the rest of the interview. I felt really bad for the guy, but it was really funny.
  14. Hammerhead johnson in the "Gammons says Thomas to A's going to happen", regarding the possibilities of Frank Thomas healing his foot and playing next year. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) Are you 6'5 and approaching 300 pounds? It's reassuring if you're a major fatass or something along those lines. No offense if you are indeed a major fatass.
  15. Actually I kind of dont understand why Walker did this, to tell you the truth. Rosenhaus was fighting to get Walker a payraise, and they finally recanted and came back to camp, and Walker blows out his knee in the first game. Walker is never going to see the same dollar amount that he would have if Green Bay would have negotiated a contract or traded him.
  16. Interesting trade, I thought that the Padres really liked Burroughs

  18. http://uk.news.yahoo.com//dotmusic_news/20698.html Kurt Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, has won the opening stages of her battle to control the music of her husband's band Nirvana. A judge granted Love an injunction against the release of a song recorded by Cobain with the Seattle grunge outfit before his death in 1994. Love and the two remaining members of Nirvana - drummer Dave Grohl, now with Foo Fighters and bassist Krist Novoselic - are in court fighting for control of the studio recording of the song and a 45-track box set, which was planned to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Nirvana's 'Nevermind' album. Warren Rheaume, the attorney for Grohl and Novoselic said: "The fight is over control of Nirvana." Love meanwhile, argues that the song 'You Know You're Right' is not necessary for the success of the box set, which is due to be released on October 23. Recorded in January 1994, the song is regarded by fans as one of Nirvana's unreleased gems. Those who have heard it say that it could be a big hit. A 45-second bootleg of the song can be heard on the band's website. According to the BBC News website, all sides involved in the dispute agree that 'You Know You're Right' - which begins "I don't need to love again/I won't sigh and mope again/I don't need to love again" - would be a fitting final chapter to Nirvana's legacy. Love's attorney O Yale Lewis said of the track "It's a spectacular piece of music," hailing it as "Probably one of the most important pieces of music to be released in years." A trial to resolve the issue has been scheduled for 31 December 2002. The song is part of a contractual battle over Nirvana's music. Love, actress and frontwoman with rock band Hole, Grohl and Novoselic formed a partnership three years after Cobain died. But in court filings Love has said that she was "emotionally overwrought and distraught" when she signed the agreement which splits the proceeds from the band's assets equally three ways. Love's case meanwhile, downplays the contribution to Nirvana by Grohl and Novoselic.
  19. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) they have no rights to any of the songs? i'm sure they wrote some melodies or something, sounds really unfair. It got pretty ugly http://www.nyrock.com/worldbeat/12_2001/121301.asp Trying to find the follow-up article, Im fairly sure Courtney Love maintained full rights to the music. In fact, I am positive, since she is selling the catalog.
  20. QUOTE(The Critic @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) Not me. I've had to deal with that over-rated crap band all my life. I can't stand the Doors. At all. Not one song. See, different generations will come up with different answers. I dont think anyone will completely agree on this poll.
  21. Oh my God, where is all of the Metallica, Nickelback, Limp Bizkit, Creed? I would argue that singles from the above mentioned bands have been played MORE in todays present media markets than the top 5 songs this guy has listed. I know for a fact that I heard the atrocious song "Rollin" by limp bizkit at least 25% more times than I have heard "Light my Fire".
  22. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) I dislike Courtney Love very much, but I don't blame her for selling the catalog. she needs her smack, i think we can all understand that. LOL. We all know the monthly bills that come with non-perscribed Vicodin and Oxycontin. Its just really a shame that Kris and Dave cannot own music that they made, thats just s***ty. And I know that they tried to work something out with her, then tried to go to court, and still nothing. Now if they want to get the rights to their own music, they have to buy it from Martha friggin Stewart. Its like McCartney buying the Beatles stuff back from Michael Jackson.
  23. I love the big man, but it is plain to me that his injury is never going to be right again. Thomas just puts so much pressure and torque on his front foot when he is swinging, I dont think that his navicular bone would be able to withstand a 162 game schedule. And he fractured the bone twice, and it has a screw in it. I dont see Thomas having a complete season next year at all, which is unfortunate. I dont want to see the Big Hurt fail, but I dont see how he will be able to compete.
  24. Courtney Love is the very definition of a whore, the lady has sold everything close to her that is worth money. Kris and Dave deserved this catalog, they were just as important to Nirvana as Kurt. What a b****.
  25. I wonder if Francis is going to try and get back at Nocioni like he promised last time they played.
