    Stones "Roll"

Im with you Palesox, that was an amazing show. Also, it was the biggest and most multipurposed stage I have ever seen. I overheard someone saying that it takes 70 trucks to move all of their stuff, I wouldnt have believed it until i was actually inside. Really amazing. Jagger has more energy than I have had in the past 5 years, and I am 27.

    Oregon Trail

God guys, you are all recalling my 6th grade year in study hall. I played every single one of those games (Oregon Trail, Math Munchers, the Fishing Game) in study hall.

    LA Confidential

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...on/050907&num=0 it is really quite amazing what the press doesnt find newsworthy, and what they do find newsworthy. It is really amazing that this story can go under the radar for so long while a case with incredibly similar circumstances can be pushed because of who is involved. Even moreso when you consider both of the cases involve teams based in LA and owned by Jerry buss. Thoughts?
  5. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) Just listened to the semi-new 311 album. I think it is mostly mediocre with a couple standout tracks. So, just like all their other discs. Thats the vibe I get from alot of 311 fans I know(me being one of them). I would have to say its just like all their other discs after Transistor. Transistor and the discs before it are all pretty damn good start to finish, IMO.
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) Yeah, he sucked while he was here. to the Nth degree
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) Magglio Ordonez spoke softly, but his words landed with a thud -- just like the Tigers' winless September. "I think we stink," he said after Thursday's 4-2 to the Cleveland Indians. "We should feel embarrassed, the way we are playing and the way we are hitting. We suck." Ordonez hasn't spoken out about the Tigers like this before. But this season's up-and-down club hasn't been down like this before. The Tigers have lost eight straight, scoring 10 runs in those eight games. They are 12 games below .500. This isn't what Ordonez, the big-time slugger, envisioned when he signed for five years and $75 million last off-season. "You don't win ballgames with talent," he said. "You win ballgames with run-scoring and playing defense and playing good ball. "I wish I knew the answer. I don't know what is going on. I know we are playing hard, but it's not happening." Ordonez spent his career until this season with the White Sox, and he got used to a winning record. Unless the Tigers win 18 of their final 24 games, Ordonez for the first time in six years will play on a team that finishes with a losing record. "You have to get used to winning," Ordonez said. "Winning is a habit. Losing is a habit." The Tigers are on target for their 12th straight losing season. "We need to change our attitude," Ordonez said. "We should be over .500." hmmmm, I know of a team that wins ballgames by playing defense and playing good ball. Although, they emphasize pitching more than run-scoring. But I dont think that Magglio would understand that.....
  8. Last time i checked, the Sox had to go 16-16 for the month of august and the Indians had to go 21-8(or something like that). So now do the Sox have to go 9-16 and the Indians go 16-6?
  9. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) Remember Ozzie said something a couple of weeks ago that I thought was interesting: he said Contreras has the best stuff, even though he's not the best pitcher. Side note: how funny is it when Ozzie blurts out stuff so bluntly? He was talking about B-Mac this week and he says something like "The kid plays three games this season and he sucks," but now he's lights-out. LOL! You won't hear that from Dusty Baker! Thats because Dusty doesnt play rookies. You cant know how good or bad your players are if you stay with your crappy vets until they crash the ship
  10. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) Stage presence and incessant rambling shouldnt be considered the same. Like I said, different strokes for different folks. I didnt consider them the same. Some bands actually appreciate your presence at their performances, and let the crowd know it. Other bands go out, do their songs and walk off the stage onto the bus as if it didnt matter. you can tell which is which up on stage. I dont want a band to preach to me either, but I want to know that they are enjoying the show also.
  11. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 06:29 AM) Opinions, like assholes, as they say... I saw them in Charlotte last year, thought they did a pretty good job myself. Are they out there pepping the crowd up? No, but if you are there to hear stories instead of hearing the music, you can always go read the internet. Just my humble opinion. If the band isnt giving me a stage presence when I pay my good money to watch him perform, then I am not going to be happy. I want to see a performance when i go to a concert, I dont want to see a guy up on stage going through the motions.
  12. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) I wonder why no one is saying that these injuries are some sort of defect. I mean, this is the second or third time he's pulled part of a tendon off a bone. I can't remember a lot of other players having the same type of injury more than once. I'm sorry he's hurt...but I wonder if this is a career ender. From what i have read, i gathered that KGJ didnt do much to augment his natural strength. Basically, he just went out and played. He rarely worked out, ran, did stamina excercises. So as he got older, it started to catch up to him. Im not saying this is the reason, but it certainly can be a symptom to his problem with staying healthy now.
  13. QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 07:55 AM) man, i hate to be so critical, but what will it take for you all to shut up about trading or getting rid of paulie? its not happening. he is producing and we are winning. let me guess, we should trade him for vinnie castilla. no, jim thome. no todd helton. all those trades are GREAT ideas. No you dont sound critical at all after that statement. :headshake
  14. After much thought, I have decided that the Mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, is actually the lead guitarist for Audioslave, formerly Rage Against the Machine, Tom Morello. Nagin Morello This case is now closed. You can go back to your regular complaining about modern day music.
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) Go f*** yourselves San Diego. LMAO "Im going to have to fire you now, Ron" "What, why?" "I DIDNT SAY THAT!"
  16. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 07:34 AM) This shows why Cincy ownership is dumb. They had a chance to unload this guy, after years of wasting money on him, and they f***ed it up. Enjoy being horrible for the next few years. Congrats! Evil will always triumph over good because good is dumb.(namethatquote) LOL, Lindner can sell his team with its injured star now. Im sure it is that much easier to unload the team now.
  17. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/PIT/2001.shtml *Ahem* Showing the season end averages doesnt indicate how good a team is(or should have been). The Sox have been great on paper since 2000. Now all of their averages are in the pisser and they are 34 games over .500. Besides the fact that the Pirates started the year with Derrek Bell(.179) as their primetime acquisition and started him in the outfield, most of the players you mentioned either werent there(Perez) or played half the year(CWilson 88 games, JWilson 108 games). McClendon has been dealt a bad hand every year he was the coach, the payroll has been dismal, the team has traded away any offense they had as soon as it showed promise. McClendon will get another shot, he didnt blow this one IMO.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) His catcher lets him know the test results are in. LMAO, I cant wait for chat tonite.
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) I thought he was endorsed by hmmm, I think a little blue pill is what got him into trouble in the first place.....
  20. Jose Lima is just a big headcase. Anyone who glares into the opposing dugout after getting a strikeout, while losing, just needs to take it down a notch. He never seemed to have any tact while showing up opposing batters. I thought his fall from grace after Houston moved to Minute maid Park was very appropriate. Oh yeah, Jose Lima, brought to you by Famvir. Ask your doctor if it is for you! http://www.famvir.com/index.jsp?checked=y
  21. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) If the playoffs started today..... The White Sox would host the NY Yankees in the ALDS, and have home field advantage throughout the entire playoffs. -- Just a thought. Buehrle vs. Johnson Contreras vs. Chacon Garcia vs. Mussina Garland vs. Wright Buehrle vs. Johnson Mussina is rumored to be done for the year, Wright just got a linedrive right at his collarbone. Im thinking Aaron Small is going to be in rotation somewhere.
  22. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) you hate to see a young career cut so short. A few more years this guy could've broke some records. pssssst, sarcastic remarks go in green
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) While watching the game yesterday...Hawk said that the Big Hurt paid a visit to the team while they were in Texas and really beat up on Juan & helped him with his swing. From that point on...bang, zoom, right to the moon. Juan...just keep this going through the end of October. Your hot streak last year lasted about 2 months or so...can it last that long this year? We can average 10 runs a game if he gets truly hot. Thats funny, Farmer and Rooney were saying that Walt Hriniak came in and worked with Uribe at the request of the team. I wonder which helped more, FT or Hriniak?
  24. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) Can we still get Eric Chavez and Griffey for the playoffs?? forget that s***, I want burnett and overbay
