  1. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) I don't understand why they could suspend him? There was no warning after out guy was plunked so where is the "suspendable" action? Watch, they are gonna pull some bulls*** "We warned both teams no funny business prior to the game" Its gonna get appealed and drag on for a while
  2. Tadahito lives near me, thats kind of cool. I cant believe he drives through the traffic around here to get to chicago, that must really suck. I would have lived closer, but he obviously feels comfortable in the japanese community in Schaumburg
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) you are the yankees of soxtalk....sinner LMAO same wavelength
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) You should see what a new font costs on the open market. Luckily I have the biggest posting total on Soxtalk and can afford it. Im gonna start calling you steinbrenner2k5 then
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) Yeah, I sold all of my green font to Texsox for use on SLaP, in exchange for a font TBNL. Wow, font TBNL passed through waivers already? Im an average baseball fan and I am shocked.
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) Mike do you have a green font deficiency today? He lost that priveledge with his mod/admin title
  7. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) yanks arent going to go after him, i think their lineup is already pretty packed and there arent many open spots on their roster to put him, im not even sure where we would put him quite frankly, i like carl and id hate to bench him Sorry, but i think even Carl would defer to griffey as being the better hitter in this situation. Griffey would be PT outfielder and almost fulltime DH, while Carl moves around filling in for Arow, Pods and Dye and being PT DH. No brainer
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/ptech/08/02/m...g.ap/index.html These guys are gonna learn their lesson when a hacker drains an account as while he is hanging out by the pool, right before he takes off.
  9. Waivers is a 2 day process or a 3 day process?
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) I'd be willing to bet Griffey already has or soon will pass through waivers. How is it known that a player is placed on waivers? Is there a formal letter sent to team offices around the league? is it a wire that the public can access?
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) Slim and none. Slim just left town. Do you think another team would block it before it reached the White Sox, or do you think it wont go down for another reason. I was in utter disbelief that Larry Walker ended up on the Cardinals last year, Im wondering if a similar situation could arise.
  12. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) I don't believe the reports, any of them. Cinci needs arms, not Chris Young. Why would they trade for Young when they would already have an OF of Dunn, Kearns and Pena? With Griffey gone they could easily afford to resign Dunn. I'm willing to bet that the prospect package would have included a Tracey or McCarthy over Young. Well if they are still going to try and get rid of Dunn, and Casey is rumored to be on the way out because of lack of production and hefty contract, then Young and Rogo make sense.
  13. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) Do you know of a site that gives AAA comparables? I'll be happy to make the comparisons. Does it matter? You are trying to say that Brandon McCarthy is good because of a fact that you cannot compare to a major leaguer. Then you compare that stat to a major leaguers stat. The argument is moot. You can look around the minors for K/BB ratios and K/9 ratios that compare or are worse than BMACs, but in the end it doesnt matter because the minors are not even close to the majors.
  14. There should eb something cruel and unusual thought up for people who treat animals this way. What a horrible senseless thing for anyone to do.
  15. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) Keep him. Keep who?
  16. You guys gotta learn to ignore the morons. They are everywhere and will continue to post stupidity. Dont let them bring you to their level. There is no real arguments there, those guys arent arguing numbers or statistics or performance, they are talking about personal opinions. there is no argument for personal opinions, only more opinions.
  17. QUOTE(GBlum## @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Which is why they dealt him after hitting .305 with 54 steals. LOL, in the MINORS. Willie has yet to come close to duplicating those numbers.
  18. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) this sucks hardcore Welcome to the darkside. It is beautiful here, and we will accept you and forgive you for your past discrepensies and allegiances
  19. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) So we're looking at Larry Walker, Randall Simon, and the Crimedog? That'd be sweet if this were 1995. It kind of seems like no-names and older guys with bad contracts are the ones that make it through. The question is wether they made an impact on their respective playoff bound teams. Seeing as McGriff and Walker went to the WS, and Simon came within 6 outs of going to the WS, I would say they were good acquisitions.

    DH Tirades

    People would rather blame the DH for the problem rather than the real culprit, the Umpires trying to take over the game. Carmen and Silvy touched on this subject this morning, and mentioned that the umpires will do whatever they can to stop confrontation, except when it comes to the batter waving his hand at a pitcher for merely coming inside on him. Batters are now dictating the strike zone, not the umpires, and for some reason the pitchers are getting the brunt of the punishment. Warnings are arbitrary at best, and when they are given, then pitchers can be ejected for barely brushing a batters jersey on an inside pitch. Yet a batter can stand there and talk smack to a pitcher for coming inside on him no matter what. The umpires need to realize that their job is not policing the game, and let the players police themselves. Of course, if an umpire sees an escalating situation, he should do what he can to diffuse it, but yesterday was a disgrace. Iguchi and Pierzinski were drilled, and Surhoff got off easy, Yet buehrle was ejected. No warnings, just a split second decision. If Buehrle gets any sort of fine, Im gonna be really pissed.
  21. I would have to say that the Cubs picking up the sausage killer was pretty big. Not a big name, but he had a big impact
  22. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) All staged. If I was so wasted that none of that woke me up, I'd probably need a trip to the ER....and a new group of friends. I doubt it was staged. You never had one of those friends that passed out THAT hard LMB? It seemed like every party we had there was one guy who had to be dragged out by his friends, never waking up. That was me one time too.

    Neil Diamond

    The only advice I can give you is that "Saving Silverman" is hilarious. Other than that, I dont know much about Neil.
  24. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) If you played for the team at any point that season, yes, you get a ring. Then why did the Red Sox vote wether or not Nomar deserved a ring last year?
  25. Wouldnt you want to blame Pohlad more than Ryan?
