  1. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) While watching the last two games I have come to a conclusion. Neither of the Cubans can pitch out of the bullpen, should they be needed. Assume they come in with a runner on. Average/Decent speed = stolen base, not what you want late in a game. Think of the impact this had with Brian Roberts lasytyear. That isn't really even the half of it. They need time to establish themselves in a game and work with their stuff over the course of the game. In relief I think they would be a nightmare. Have either of them ever pitched out of the pen????/ I like both of these guys to round out a rotation. They can get hit around and are tough to watch from times but over-all I am fine with the five we have. Now here is my point. If we make the playoffs, both of them should not be on the roster. Every reliever can pitch in every game, you do not need a long man. This is where I think we need to add a reliever, a good one, and send Jenks down. For the playoffs, and correct me if I am wrong, we can still add Jenks to replace a starter (as long as he is on teh 40 man) thereby adding a reliever now, send Jenks down for six weeks and go at it in September with him and see what the pen has. I think Ozzie is trying to figure out what kind of mental makeup that Jenks has, and how far he can push him in certain situations. Last night was case in point, Jenks came in and got the final out of Contreras' disaster, and was given 2 innings to mop up. His first innign went relatively well, only gave up a single to maggs, but he had bases loaded with noone out in his second inning of work, and got out of it. This is only going to make Jenks better for it and more confident in these situations. It will also give Ozzie more confidence in bringing the kid out in tough situations, a confidence that he lost in Shingo. I think Jenks is here to stay, barring a major trade in which Jenks will have to be sent down to make room.
  2. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) I DON'T KNOW WHAT WERE SCREAMING ABOUT! I ate a red candle. My favorite was "I once at some fiberglass insulation. It wasnt cotton candy like the guy told me. My stomach is Itchy!" lol edit: damn, I didnt notice I was past 1000 posts! Cheers to me! That is a productive 2 months at work!
  3. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) Jason Schmidt is crap outside of a Giants uniform and always has been.... HE IS NO LONGER ON STEROIDS HE'S NOT AN ACE! THE FACT IS THAT HE WOULD HAVE AN ERA WELL OVER 6 IN THE CELL... But Felix Diaz will thank you when he's back on the team because either he or El Duque is injured... Man i'm sick of you bandwagon fans who don't follow baseball who bring up stupid trade ideas just because the guys name is famous... NO MATTER HOW MUCH WORSE HE IS THEN ANYTHING WE HAVE... I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO JUST IGNORE IT BUT YOU GUYS ARE PISSING ME OFF, SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT! JASON SCHMIDT IS OVER, AND IF IT WASN'T FOR BEING INTRODUCED TO BERRY BONDS AND BALCO HE NEVER WOULD OF BEEN! PLEASE GET A FREAKIN' CLUE! Wow, someone needs a nap. ps. Schmidt was throwing in the high 90's when he was with Atlanta and Pittsburgh. Balco didnt give him more MPH on his fastball.
  4. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) LOUD NOISES IM riding a furry tractor! LOL, Steve Carell is hilarious.
  5. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) There is no such thing as a dumb question...just dumb people. Judging by the above question--case in point. I think he is asking about sigs.
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) I heard the same exact thing. He also said that they may consider something if the Sox came up to them and offered Contreras and 2 high prospects. Don't take just part of the conversation so it will fit into your plans or argument. I took what Mike and Mike gave me. They were playing excerpts of the conversation, and I wrote down exactly what he said. I didnt cut up the conversation at all, sorry that I wasnt up at 7 listening to the whole interview, but my ass was asleep. And in case you didnt see, I didnt have an argument. I just posted what he said.
  7. Jason Stark was on Mike and Mike this morning saying that the Giants are looking to add pitching around Schmidt, and are NOT looking to trade him.
  8. The Sox lost last night? And the Twins won? OH MY GOD! SOMEBODY NEEDS TO GET TRADED FOR SOMEONE ELSE! HEADS NEED TO ROLL! SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO.......SOMETHING!! THIS IS BAD PEOPLE! NOT BAD LIKE IM NAKED AT SCHOOL IN MY DREAM BAD, BUT MORE LIKE I AM NAKED AT AN ALL MALE-SCHOOL IN MY DREAM BAD. THATS REALLY BAD PEOPLE. IF THE WHITE SOX DONT TRADE JERMAINE DYE AND AARON ROWAND AND BRANDON MCCARTHY FOR KEN GRIFFEY JR STRAIGHT UP, THEN IT WILL GET WORSE! PLEASE, SOMEONE DO SOMETHING! A 5 GAME WIN STREAK TO START THE SECOND HALF AND A 12 GAME LEAD OVER THE TWINS ISNT ENOUGH. ITS TIME TO PANIC PEOPLE! (If you wish, imagine the above statement in green. I dont think it is necassary)
  9. Why isnt this even posted on the teams website?I have looked everywhere for this trade, but it isnt anywhere but the link that SS71 has. Wierd.
  10. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) The HR number is very, very troubling; however, if Adkins' name is even being discussed by the Sox brass--which it very well may not--Embree deserves a serious look. Adkins v. Embree ...gimme Embree. I choose death. Next option.
  11. In the 93 playoffs, I remember Ozzie didnt like the waving socks because you couldnt pick the ball when it was hit if everyone was waving them.
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) It sucks that Wagner is going to end up on the Red Sox. About a month ago, I was having an argument with a Red Sox fan who's a friend of mine. I was saying that Wagner is easily one of the top 5 closers in baseball, whereas he said he wasn't even in the top 10 (citing "better" closers such as Nathan and both Corderos, though Chad is definitely in the top 10, too). Now, his spoiled team will land the closer that he was disrespecting and he'll rub it in my face. Sometimes life is unfair. You never know, I was reading that Thome was the Philly they were targeting. They sure are in full swapping mode right now, some of their current roster has to be moving for all of these trades they are trying to swing.
  13. Yikes, I dont even want to think about him throwing bombs again in the Cell. Stay away, stay far far away
  14. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) There was as short blurb on espn1000 about the possibility of this trade. They also mentioned some minor league infielder from Boston to the Twinkies instead of Mueller. Not Youklis... can't remember the name. Watch the Twins get Hanley Ramirez, now that would be bad.
  15. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) It would suck because instead of them covering the playoffs they would be runing specails on how to fix the yankess and red sox. LOL Anthrax, thats the funniest(and the most truthful) thing I have seen you type.
  16. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) equidistant = best hawk word LOL, thats a good one too. Used every game when announcing the outfield of either team.
  17. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) Ah, what fine long-term memories you people possess. HAs he earned the right to start? Absolutely. Will he start? Definitely. If I had to bet my money on either a playoff game that Garland starts vs. one that El Duque starts do I bet on Garland's game? Nope, not a chance. So by your logic we should discount all performances this year by either player, and only look at their past performance? Now thats funny Wong.
  18. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) Garland isn't exactly a rock at this point either. What? Then who is? Garland has been just fine.
  19. QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) i think its pretty close to selling out. wish i could be there. I had a feeling that last nights game would have a metriculating (Hawk Word) effect on tonites game. That kind of atmosphere is so much fun, wave or no wave.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) I'm in...for sure. I'll be the "who the hell is this guy" out of the group. And i will be standing next to you as the "who in the hell is THAT" guy lol, it sounds like it will be alot of fun though
  21. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) I'm sure the Twins could augment the deal with some of their minor league ballplayers. Still, who is misplaced for Millar? They have leCroy and Morneau playign first, and Lew Ford as the 4th outfielder. Boston sure has been eager to get rid of Millar in the past 2 years though
  22. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) The startribune is reporting that a deal is in the works for boston's Bill Mueller to to the Twins for JC Romero. Kevin Millar is also available. This could be a trade that gets the Twins rolling. Not enough to catch the Sox, but still... Linky I doubt Millar would be included in just that scenario(Mueller AND Millar for Romero). Plus, Millar really doesnt fit the Twins style too well(all hit, no glove), and they already have alot of DH options. Mueller I could see moving, but not both of them for Romero.
  23. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Glad you are on our side, then. LOL. I try.
  24. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) No way man. Skin only, dude. Allright, but I should let you know I am a yellowbelt. Like Drama on "Entourage".
  25. So is this gonna be like West Side Story? Are we gonna fight WSI at some point during the game? Should I bring my brass knuckles?
