  1. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) It's been a long time, how do I get there from the northside? I remember this much: Dan Ryan south, then switch to I-57 Memphis. What do I do after that? Also, I need to be there at 7:00 tonight, what time should I head out? Any other time saving shortcuts would be appreciated, thx guys. Give me until noon. My buddy knows a backway through Homewood-Flossmoor that completely bypasses almost ALL of the traffic. I will PM it to you later.
  2. Start the chant now. Randa Randa Randa Randa
  3. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) I definatly agree it was spent wisely...but that credit goes to KW and Ozzie...which I have given them. Wait a second though, who hired Ozzie and KW?
  4. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) Tell that to Kansas City. I'd rather have our payroll than KC's...and I'd rather have Boston's than ours. Does it guarantee a championship...no, but it usually ups the odds. Large payroll does not equate to championships at all. Its a combination of talent evaluation, timing, and payroll. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Orioles(multiple times), Seattle Mariners, and many other teams have tried to buy championships only to fall on their faces. Jerry may "only" be spending 75 million right now, but its 75 million spent wisely, wouldnt you agree?
  5. ESPN is reporting that Harden is 6 outs from a perfect game against the Rangers. He just hit 99 on the gun.

    Transformers..

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) It was Judd Nelson. I'm pretty sure. They were both in it. Nelson was Rodimus Prime and Welles was Unicron
  7. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) yeah. he KO his first at bat. got a hit in his second. The fans really cheered for him. They interviewed him ont he radio in the pregame. He IS arrogant. lol I thought the batflip would tell you that
  8. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) the twins announcers were talking about the trad in the pre game on the radio. and one mentioned that Byrnes is arbitration eligble in the off season so that might be a reason for the trade of him. I think the Wilson/Day deal intrigues me. I thought Zach Day was one of the Nats good young pitchers. But I then looked at the stats and saw a note that he and Frank Robinson didnt get along. Maybe the Rockeis got a steal in him does boone start tonite?

    Transformers..

    hey, I already reported this....
  10. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) When is Dye gonna move up in the order? Our hottest hitter for a few months and he's mired in the 6th spot in the order. While I agree that moving a hot hitter up in the order is sometimes necassary, I think If you move Dye up then the bottom half of the order will lack alot of punch. Sometimes its good to spread the wealth, IMHO. Dye isnt suffering for it.
  11. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) It seems to me the asking price for both Schmidt & Burnett is too high. Garland for Schmidt? Hell no. A Penny like pkg for Burnett? No. Burnett & Ozzie are not good friends nor do they share any family like ties. Burnett is a rent-a-player no matter who trades for him. He's not going to pass up what he's likely to get on the open market in an off-season where he'll be the #1 target. With Halladay down Lilly has been promoted to #1 in the TBJ rotation. They do have a fan base to appease so his price just went up. You're asking them to trade their current #1. That won't come cheap. They had to promote from w/in for their 5th & with Lilly gone they would be expecting at player in return who could be a #3/#4 on their team. I think KW should concentrate on Omar & Randa since they seem more likely candidates on teams going no where. How do you know this?
  12. Would Kwame be playing the same spot as Lamar Odom? As for Kobe having a superior work ethic, etc... On the court, Kobe does what Kobe wants so that Kobe gets the spotlight. Tell me one player that he elevated into a better player. There is none. Last year he could have proved that he has what it takes to make everyone around him better, but he didnt. He took more shots, got more selfish, and the team sucked because of it. Phil said in his book that he couldnt control Kobe then, and that he basically did what he wanted. I dont really care what they are saying to the press now, it doesnt matter. Phil is in it for a paycheck and the fame(if he lucks into a good season), if the Lakers fail, then Phil can go right back to blaming Kobe. Kobe wants the heat off of him, so he "let" Phil come back.
  13. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) Agreed that this could be a deal that looks really good... if it was 2003 or 2004. How is Lowell's defense? I'm unfamiliar since I haven't watched him play except in spots (playoffs/interleague vs. White Sox). /turns to the numbers wizard Juggernaut Time to churn out some numbers Juggs!
  14. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) I don't think Baltimore can like their chances. Even with a lot of Boston's key players on the DL, they still finished in first at the ASB. Baltimore just doesn't have the pitching to do it and I don't think Burnett is the difference between having the pitching and not having it. Especially with Bedards health being Iffy. Its a huge gamble that I dont think Baltimore would want to take.
  15. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) THe Marlins beat-writer was just on 670WSCR and confirmed that 12 teams are after Burnett, but the 3 major teams interester are Baltamore, Toronto and the White Sox. He said the Marlins have been interested in Contreras for over 2 years now- and see him as there potential closer. He also said the Marlins want to dump Mike Lowell's contract so would most likely have to be involved with this trade. So this trade would most likely be: Contreras, Marte and Crede for Burnett and Lowell. WOW- thats Blockbuster. Thats absolutely huge. But does it solve the problem of insuring against El Duque's health? Nope. This could possibly exaggerate the problem, with Lowell and his down year(.226, 4 HR, .282 OBP, .351 SLG, 36 RBI) making Crede look like a godsend, and no gaurantees for Burnett. This could be a bad deal.
  16. Timo has hits in 5 of his last 6 at bats, but who knows. Im still wondering why Willie hasnt been officially optioned down yet.
  17. I dont know. Jackson has never really developed anyone. he put players around his best players that would help them succeed. But Phil never had to develop a center, he had Shaq, and relied on the three headed monster in Chicago. but the 3 headed monster never really stood out and commanded attention. The only time the bulls had a presence down low is when they had Bison Dele(Brian williams) for that one season. I dont see Kwame succeeding because of Jackson, and he will probably just fall in line behind Kobe just like every other player on the team.

I also might add that I am really becoming a fan of Blinker the Star. Very cool progressive sound.
  19. Can you tune in WCIU with bunny ears? My cable is out until tomorrow and I am now freaking out.....
  20. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) Our top three pitchers in the first half of 2000 were, in order, Baldwin, Eldred, Sirotka... Due to injury, we started Jim Parque in the playoffs against Seattle. :puke A game in which Parque left too early, if I recall.
  21. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) Baldwin had an outstanding 1st half in 2000. I think he had 10 or 11 wins by the ASB. The game that stands out to me was when the Sox strolled into Seattle with Baldwin starting. Rickey Henderson was leading off and Baldwin struck him out on 4 pitches in about 12 seconds. It was the fastest I have ever seen Henderson get rung up. He dominated that game, with El Caballo providing the runs. Too bad his shoulder fell apart.

    Holy ugly dog..

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:24 AM) Thats why i am a cat person. And as for the Brian Peppers or whatevr I thought I heard the picture of the black guy they show is the actual real sex offender. I dont know how reliable snopes is, but it looks like they think its the real thing. Which is scary as hell. Not only does the guy look like a freak, he is a sex offender too.
  23. QUOTE(go-sox05 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:21 AM) when are the sox gonna trade for eric milton. hes the pretty good and dosent give up a lot of home runs. LOL, you are kidding right? Sarcasm goes in green! Milton gave up 43 last year, the year before he was injured, 24, 35, 35, 28, and 25 his rookie year. Thats ALL Milton does is give up homeruns edit: And this year, Milton has given up 29
  24. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) Source? Can't there be something in the contract that lets them get out of it if something happens the first year? I guess the language would be similar to maggs' contract... I heard Scoop Jackson talking about that as being the best option, and I definitely was agreeing... I really like Scoop Jackson. He is like a quiet, smart, respectful version of Stephen A Smith. I used to have to listen to SAS on Foxsports radio mornings Saturdays(In Southern Illinois, there was ONE AM sportstalk station) and he would absolutely rip apart callers, interviewees, co-hosts, anyone that disagreed with him. I still am in disbelief that he holds so much esteem within ESPN. During the 2004 NBA playoffs, I swear Greg Anthony and Stephen A almost got into a fight during the broadcast. Of course, this was after Stephen A declared that the Heat had NO chance in the 1st round, and that it was a mockery that they were even in the playoffs. After the Heat won the game, the camera panned the panel, and they all just stared at Stephen A, he looked like he was really embarrassed. Then he composed himself and began to rip the Heat again. It was nice to see him get his for once.
