  1. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) No that is the point.. 10 mil for JS or a younger verison of JS.. I'll take the younger version please. of course neither will be on the sox with their asking price so all this arguing is pointless... ...which makes your first point of Burnett being "easier to sign" moot.
  2. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) And how much is that option for? 10 million. But thats besides the point. He does not have to be signed, AJ Burnett does. Burnett is already looking for that kind of money. Moot point.
  3. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 08:03 PM) padres are looking at him, they want him at second so they can put loretta at third I thought they were more interested in him because Loretta is hurt right now(broken pinky or something like that) and they wanted Damian Jackson to be a utility player more than a starter. Either way, I think Boone ends up a Padre, its his hometown I think.

    Sexiest woman alive

Im convinced that Marcil and Eva Longoria are long lost twins. They both have the same "Im going to do bad things to you" look in their layouts. Good Pics Chaos!
  5. Hermanson only issued a bereavement warning, saying that something could happen soon. Nothing happened yet though.
  6. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) Another thing, how does Burnett fit into our rotation any better than the Yankees? We've already got 5 starting pitchers under contract for next year, only ours have been more effective and have been healthier than the Yankee's group. I highly doubt we are going to sign another starter for big bucks, since we are already spending so much on our rotation, and Garland will be due for a raise. We simply can't afford to have half our payroll in the starting rotation. And then there is that.... To me, I see it like this: Clemens> Burnett Oswalt>Burnett Burnett>Schmidt Schmidt>Contreras So basically I would be happy with any one of those guys to replace Contreras at the 4 spot(or El Duque at the 5, if Contreras were part of the trade). Burnett would be nice, but I think all dreams of re-signing him where he would like to get paid should be thrown out the window. It comes down to which rent-a-player would cost the Sox the least and give them the most(health + performance). That pretty much throws out all but Oswalt, and even he had some injury problems last year.
  7. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) \ Why would AJ not be resignable? I think we can get it down, we have Carl, Pauly,Frank,Timo and Shingo all coming off the books next year. We have some cash to go after another SP that could make us damn ferking good for the next 3-4 years. Who doesn't want to be a Yankee? Get overpaid and if you underperform everyone else besides you it seems gets the boot. Where in the Rotation is AJ going to fit in? They have Johnson,Pavano, Mussina, Brown, and The infamous Jarret Wright. I know that RJ CP and JW are all signed through next year.. I don't know the current status of MM and KB. Also factor in Oswalt, is he not a FA next year as well? If I were the Yankees and had my choice I would go after Oswalt over AJ, which would help us out in signing him. IMO, Schmidt is a bad idea if this was jason from 2002, then yeah go for it.. I just think what we would have to give up would not be worth the reward. Lots of speculation on both of our parts. Where in the Rotation is AJ going to fit in? They have Johnson,Pavano, Mussina, Brown, and The infamous Jarret Wright. Something tells me that Kevin Brown is either done after this year or he is goign to take his act elsewhere. new York doesnt have alot of patience with Brown after his substandard year last year, his attitude, and his lack of health. Wright may never pitch for the Yankees, who knows? He seems to have one good year and then goes on the DL for 5 years. I think we can get it down, we have Carl, Pauly,Frank,Timo and Shingo all coming off the books next year. Im glad you are positive that the Sox will not make a run at all of these players, but I doubt that seriously. If I were the Yankees and had my choice I would go after Oswalt over AJ, which would help us out in signing him. So if the Yankees throw big money at Oswalt, setting the bar on FA pitchers in the market, this helps the Sox sign someone who is already looking for big money? Im thinking this would set the Sox back even more if Oswalt signed with the Yanks, it would probably drive the bargaining up and put him out of the Sox range.
  8. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Why do the Sox always seem to have trouble against them? that there is the Lou Piniella factor. He has put a fiestiness into the team, now he needs to loosen the purse-strings of his two headed upper management....
  9. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) You believe everything you read, don't you? You think KW is just going to come out and spill everything to the media ahead of time? He isn't known for being "under the radar" for nothing. I just posted some rumors I saw on the MLB.com website. Noone said I believed anything. I wasnt refuting anything you said, I just happened to come across that page and posted it.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) Also pitching in one of the biggest pitchers parks in baseball... im sensing sarcasm here....
  11. QUOTE(OilCan @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) On an unrelated note - Lance Berkman would look damn good in a Sox uniform. Why would Berkman even be on KWs radar? Would you sit Podsednik, Dye, or Rowand so that Berkman could start?
  12. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) He had one major injury 2 years ago and is finally recovered. He is a "southside" type guy, much like pauly is. He is a legit starter, and would only cost about 9-10mil to resign in the offseason, just think of the rotation going from the trading dealine till 2008. What do we get from trading for Clemens and Schimdt other than a rent a player? Clemens won't resign and JR won't pony up the money for a healthy Schimdt..if he ever gets back to form. AJ on the other hand, is a class A stud and would be a steal for 9/10 a year, plus figure the ozzie discount..might get him cheaper. Marky Freddy AJ Jon Jose I take Jose as my number 5 any day of the week. This keeps El DL healthy come playoff time, could help us. Enough with the Russ Ortiz, again for the slow minded, the debate was between Jarret wright and Russ Ortiz.. Please let me know if you think that we should have signed Wright over Ortiz. I think the problem is that AJ wants to be a Yankee(so the rumors go). You are thinking that AJ is re-signable, but this isnt known. Plus, AJ may have the stuff to be worth a 9-10 million per year contract, but he hasnt done anything yet to warrant a contract that big. The Marlins in 03 won the world series without him, it isnt as if he has the experience.

  14. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) It's funny because it seems like most of those in support of trading for Schmidt are against trading for Clemens. I find that funny as well. I see them as being broken from a similar, if not the same mold. The difference being that Clemens has been able to maintain good health in the past few years and Schmidt has been on and off. The only reason I would be against it is the money aspect, and if Clemens is gone next year(most likely) who are you plugging in his place? A year older El Duque? Contreras? It wont be a minor leaguer.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) hmmm, why would he want to go to NY??? Come back to the Yankees and be the Hero that leads them to the playoffs? I cannot think of why Clemens would want to do something like that.....
  16. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 09:00 AM) WOW, there is alot of BS to read here.. Umm yeah We already have an overpaid pitcher who is injuried....and the asking price..... Of course then there is the only Sp we would want, that makes perfect sense... AJ Burnett FLA And AJ Burnett doesnt have injury history? How does he make perfect sense? I see him as being as much as a liability as Russ Ortiz...errr El Duque.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) Per ESPN White heat? According to the Daily Southtown, Rogers Clemens is one pitcher White Sox GM Ken Williams would put together almost any package to try to acquire. And source has said that Williams will try to see if prying Roger Clemens from Houston is nothing more than a pipe dream. Williams cannot discuss players on other teams because of tampering rules, but such a move would help the Sox and also keep Clemens from the Yankees and Red Sox, two teams that could make a run at Clemens because of their resources. The problem is that Clemens would have to approve a deal to Chicago, which is unlikely. Second, the Astros don't believe they're out of the NL wild-card race. What does everyone think about this?? I know this may cause a few backlashes, but I would be for it. Because I have said it many times, I think this is the year, and we need to do everything we can to try and win it all this year. Clemens is flat out dominating and could really give us the "real" Ace at the top of the rotation. I think if a move such as this was made, nothing less than a World Series win is expected. This is more than mortgaging the future, Im sincerely doubting that Clemens would make this more than a half season stop. Plus, the guy is making 22 million dollars this year. I am on the fence about this.
  18. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 12:17 AM) Of course, my mistake I should have known, I almost forgot that you were a knowledgeable fan. One more time making it personal. Whatever. :finger
  19. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) But then, you decide to contradict yourself and say the sport needs more scoring... :headshake that was supposed to be in green, but then again I thought it was tongue-in-cheek enough to see. I dont really feel that way, that is just the way things happened in the nineties.
  20. Ok, well 5 of those 10 years he was on perrenial bottom-dweller Pittsburgh. He has also gotten better in each of the past 3 years.
  21. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) I'm trying to say that you dont understand hockey, and saying f*** Hockey is ignorant. Why do you say this? Because I dont LIKE Hockey then automatically I dont understand Hockey? My brother played Hockey, I have been to both minor league and NHL games. I found the sport increasingly more boring with the increasing salaries and egos during the 90's. The style of play became less defensive and more based on scoring, and took away the subleties that made Hockey a unique sport. More rules, less strategy, more scoring, less interest. Dont get mad at me for losing interest, the plummeting attendance and loss of an entire year due to a labor dispute show that I was not the only one to lose interest. Baseball f***ed up, but at least they knew that they couldnt afford to lose an entire season. You assume I dont know anything about the sport because I decided to abandon the sport AFTER the sport abandoned me as a fan. I watched it bury itself in the sand and pretend that everything was ok and tell everyone that the NHL was thriving and all will be fine. The NHL needs to expand! The fan base needs to be more diverse, the sport needs more scoring! All this BS that they fed us and forced us to believe, and now JR goes out and throws more fuel on that fire. I understand more than you would like to believe. I am ignorant of the NHL now because the NHL became ignorant of the people that got them there.
  22. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) Its raining It isnt in Oak Forest. Im in McHenry right now and It is pouring here. But the cold front was moving northeast
  23. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) That's from a person who likes anything competitive but hockey. So if you're so anti hockey why would that even turn your stomach? Basically what I'm saying is, for someone so against hockey, you probably wouldnt notice the hard work JR and players like him have put up with. See him get hit in the face with a 90+ MPH slap shot and then come back a week later. Really, kyle, keep the "f*** hockey" out of here, this is from someone who has actually watched the game. Pauly, I can say what I need and what I want about a sport on this messageboard. Thats what it is for. Im not making it personal, but you took it that way. I can say f*** Hockey. I can say f*** the sport of Hockey for depriving their fans of the sport they love over money. And I can say f*** Hockey for saying stupid things about their own fans and wondering why the fans react the way they did. JR f***ed up, whether I like Hockey or not. Am I not allowed to have an opinion on a public figure? Since I observed the moronic and ill-timed press conference by JR, I felt I would like to comment on what he said. I may not follow everything Hockey and be a huge fan, but I pay attention to the sporting world and what happens within it. If you dont like what I have to say, Ignore it. I didnt attack you, and I didnt attack you for loving your sport. I say f*** Hockey for the people like you who actually care about the sport and yet sit there and watch your icons bash you to your face. If you dont like it, TFB.
  24. http://www.collegehumor.com/?pg=movies Check out the movie entitled "We want a picture, not a belly-itcher!" I dont know when this was, but I am thinking early nineties, i think George Bell is at bat.
  25. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) WE'RE NOT GOING TO FIND SOMEONE BETTER THEN JOSE AS A 4TH STARTER! HE WILL HAVE A FEW MORE GOOD STARTS! PLEASE GET A GRIP PEOPLE! GUYS LIKE SCHMIDT ARE A MILLION TIMES WORSE! Shouldnt that be in green?
