  1. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) I don't feel like reading 15 pages to look for 1 answer. What exactly did Billy Wagner say about his teammates that has all of Philly pissed off at him? Some people are suggesting he'd be a good fit for the Sox. Given KW's fear of ruining the clubhouse chemistry, do you think he'd consider him after this incident? I know AJ had about the worst rep before he got here and he's worked out fine. The way I interpreted the fallout from Wagners comments is that management is pissed at Wagner for giving up on the season. It wasnt like what he was saying wasnt true, http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/base...lies.wagner.ap/ "I think it's the truth," Wagner said. "The way we're playing now, if anybody's fool enough to think we're a playoff team the way we're playing right now, they're crazy. We haven't played well. It doesn't have anything to do with us not working hard or playing hard. We're not getting it done. No, we're not a playoff team right now." Is that clubhouse cancer egocentrenric material? Not in my eyes, this just looks like a guy who is frustrated because his team isnt playing as well as he thought they would, and he left a good team to get there.
  2. Does anyone have ESPN insider? This is coming up on the rumor section today: Rumor Central: Schmidt doesn't want to be traded
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) Apparently, Sporting News Radio has said that the Sox are close to acquiring Schimdt. Just saw it over at BTF, thought I'd let you guys know. /insert picture of Kyyle23 doing the happy dance with Ren and Stimpy this is good news indeed!
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) YEAH OMAR VIZKEL SUCKS REAL BAD!@!!2 LOKO AT THE STATS AN D ALL THE GOLD GLOVES1!!! HEA A REAL LOSER IF YOU DONT LIEK OMAR YOU CAN SUCK A D LOL, exactly like that milkman.
  5. QUOTE(Tadahito Iguchi @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) Frank should be in it this year lol, whats his HRs to Abs ratio? Well, 66 percent of his hits are homeruns(8 HRs 12 hits). 55 AB, 8 homeruns, so about 1 homerun every 6 or so at bats.(edit: more like 1 out of 6.88, so 1 out of 7) pretty impressive whatever way you look at it
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) VA, I'm not trashing Vizquel, I actually respect Omar a ton, I'm a pretty big fan of the way he plays the game. However Juan is a 25 year old shortstop who has more pop in his bat then Omar and at this point has more range then Vizquel and a much better arm. To answer your question unless a Chavez is available or a player of that capability I leave the offense alone. Crede and Juan who might not be hitting the cover off the ball have been a huge, huge part of this teams success because they suck everything hit to them and make some outstanding plays. If you havent noticed, when you disagree with the idea of trading Uribe for Vizquel, then you automatically think that Vizquel sucks. It doesnt matter if you say that you like Vizquel, but you like uribe a little more, Vizquel sucks. Just accept it, there is no point in disputing. Last year I didnt want to trade Maggs for Andruw Jones(at the time, not now ), so obviously Andruw Jones sucks and I dont like him.
  7. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) Thanks. Hey, did any one hear the rumor that we might be after Chavez? if you think I'm serious, check the battery on your sarcasm detector. I have a outlet adapter, it is coming through loud and clear.
  8. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) Everett for Lowe? its ok to dream big Wedge, I wont stop you.
  9. rumors: Dodgers GM Paul DePodesta is believed to have targeted Adam Dunn, the Cincinnati Red outfielder-first baseman. However, Red General Manager Dan O'Brien and interim Manager Jerry Narron want to wait until after the All-Star break before unloading players. Dunn, 25, is fourth in the league with 20 home runs and is batting .243 with a .384 on-base percentage. He hit 46 homers last season and is a relative bargain. He avoided arbitration by signing a one-year, $4.6-million contract and will be arbitration eligible next year too. Other available players who fit Dodger needs and McCourt's budget include outfielders Aubrey Huff of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Carl Everett of the Chicago White Sox.
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:47 AM) I'll stick my neck out and say we'll take 2 in Oak. this weekend If this team is playoff bound, they gotta step up in 'games not supposed to be won' situations. I hope you are right, Oakland is really hot right now. Hopefully they can be held down.
  11. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) SSI, Kalapse, whoever else, fill the Chat. /shakes fist FILL IT. unfortunately Im at work. My server does not support anything java.
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Hawk still announcing like he has 1 eye. LOL. I still laugh when i think about the reason someone posted(Jabroni? Kalapse?) that Hawk couldnt travel with the team after his surgery... because his eye will explode.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) Iguchi battling. what else is new. how do you say clutch in japanese? I-gu-chi
  14. QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) 1) Jeremy Reed 2) Kris Honel 3) Neal Cotts 4) Joe Borchard 5) Ryan Wing 6) Brian Anderson 7) Arnie Munoz 8) Jon Rauch 9) Robert Valido 10) Ricardo Nanita Just missed the cut: Ryan Sweeney, Chris Young, Ruddy Yan, Enemencio Pachecho this is relevant to what?
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) I just posted your pick, but the thread is still open. Did you look at the wrong day? quite possibly. I was thinking that when you wrote that you posted it
  16. Farmer and Rooney just mentioned that the Sox picked up a pitcher off of waivers from Texas, i think his name is Ryan Wing? They said this is his second go around with the Sox
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) FYI, since the game hasn't started yet, people who did not make Picks to Click can still make them until the first pitch. Only 22 people have picks in, and the standings are VERY tight. I just went to make my pick to click and it is locked already. I noticed a few picks were Podsednik. Whoops. Im going with Rowand, I think he is going to snap out of his funk now that he has been dropped in the lineup.
  18. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Too bad about Billy Corgan. I grew up with Jimmy Chamberlin, the drummer for for Smashing Pumpkins and know he is a Sox fan, at least he was all through grade school in Joliet. Belushi's a talentless douche bag who made a career by imitating his dead brother. And Harry was singing "Take me out" at Comiskey long before he did it at the urinal. I hate this nation's love affair with the cubs. Is this all on TWIB? Where did these random thoughts come from, Jack Handy?
  19. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) The only mention of the Sox in this TWIB is AJ's walkoff against LA. I havent watched that show since the original host died (Mel Allen? What was his name?) It just doesnt have the same flair it used to have, they dont have consistent hosts. I think that Bob Eucker should host it.
  20. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) What happened? (I don't remember that or hearing about it...) Minnie Minosos bat was ripped off the statue after or during the final cubs game. I bet the Sox spring for some surveillance on every statue from now on, fixing those statues isnt cheap.
  21. QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) 2 outs, position yourself for the out not the runner on 3rd. Even so, you would play normal depth, wouldnt you? Why would you position yourself in the outfield with a player who can run pretty well in the box?
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) I'm pretty sure he didn't start off in the outfield grass. I recall Hawk saying how Ozzie brought the infield in and how Polanco could easily bloop one over the infielders. Uribe had to range back and to his right, plant, and make a strong throw and he did. Amazing play. Probably the best of the season so far. thats what I remembered. just checking.
  23. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Love that! Plus, remember Trammel said he won't take the white sox seriously until they're 10 games up? Ha! Trammel, your season's over before the break you tool! What a stupid time to take a team seriously. I know, lets wait until we have to go on a 15 game winning streak to come within 5 games.
  24. they said they think it will be a 1:00 start, the same storm that passed through chicago this morning
  25. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) Okay, I looked. I agree that Vizquel (and very few other SS) could not have made a throw from that far. But Uribe didn't have to range that far to get to the ball. The reason the throw was so far was because he started the play in the outfield grass. Can someone look at this and tell me that Uribe started on the outfield grass? I have a hard time believing that Uribe would position himself on the outfield grass with the winning run on 3rd. My work server prevents me from looking at the replay, i am working on memory from last night.
