6/22/05 Game Thread KC vs. Sox
Kyyle23 replied to Punch and Judy Garland's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Buehrle is the man. Nothing else to say, the guy personifies a what being a ballplayer is about. He is tough, no nonsense, doesnt cause trouble, and gets the job done with no excuses. The Cubs can have their stud rotation that never stays healthy, Im happy with the guy "who couldnt be the cubs 4th starter" (according to Cubs fans close to me). Time to jump on the kid and mess up his first start against the sox -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) That is awesome. The Iraqi information minister must have found new work... I missed that guys daily quotes when he dissapeared or died or whatever. If anything, he injected a slight bit of levity and humor in the war. The late night shows had a field day with his quotes. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) So I want to get the car washed so my co-worker Tom and I decided to go over to Uno's Pizza on Roosevelt (across the street from Turtle Wax). I drop Tom off and drop the car off at the Turtle.. as I am crossing the street over to Uno 2 cop cars come flying down the street and into the parking lot where Uno is.. then immdiately do a u-turn and speed off down Roosevelt. I get inside and Tom tells me that a kid was running across the parking lot with some shirts in his hands being chased by Marshall's security, end us dropping the shirts and escaping security. A few minutes later the security guy comes into Uno looking for the kid and he's carrying a green shirt and a Prior jersey They ended up getting the kid. He was balling in the back of the squad. Pretty exciting day out in Lombard. He would have been sent home with a warning if he would have taken a Buehrle jersey

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) My best friend from college (not batgirl) is a huge Twins fan, and season ticket holder, and she sent me a despondent e-mail yesterday about thinking the Twins might not be able to pull it out this season. So, they're definitely starting to doubt up there... Did you send her a email back saying "You are right to think that way. The Twinge have no chance. Give up now."

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) Didn't they sign Lee in free agency? Nope, Lee was traded to the Cubs for Choi and .........Tavares? Definitely Choi.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) As for the radio shows, listen to Carmen & Silvy they seem to be have no team preferences. Are you kidding? Silvy is a huge Cubs fan and Carmen is a huge Sox fan. they talk about it and tease each other all the time.

Every time the Sox gain another game on the Twinge, I check in on Anne Ursu's/bat-girl's "season long PMS stint", as a certain blogger so aptly put it(Cerbaho and his funny ass blog), to read her heartbroken and angry comments. Mostly because she is pathetic and it is funny. This was on the page today: Staring at the Wild Card standings already? How funny is that? :finger

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) Houston plays their home games in a Dome, so I knock them off of the list right away. Isn't Miami much more tropical in their temps? I didn't think they get the 100 degree heat daily, like Texas gets in June-September. Atlanta, I have no idea, as they seem to have pretty hot summers. Houston plays in a retractable roof dome. It isnt as if they are playing inside a climate controlled stadium 24/7. Also, I didnt even mention Arizona, they air condition the place for 2 hours before they open up the roof, and I read that it doesnt even matter because the desert is so damn hot. With Miami, Im sure the humidity is just brutal in the middle of the summer. I havent played baseball in a "dry heat" like in Arizona, but I know that i was always drained after playign in those 100 percent humidity/ 100 degree days in Chicago. Dont California teams have abnormally hot summers? I just dont think that summer heat is a plausible excuse for not playing well, wherever you are.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) It seems to happen every year. It would be interesting to see an all-time breakdown of the Rangers record month-by-month to see how much of an effect playing in that heat takes out of the players. I swear it seems like they fade down the stretch every year. It probably effects the pitchers more than the position players. But you dont hear Houston, Florida, or Atlanta complaining about hot summers bringing down their players. The Rangers problems still revolve around their starting rotation, IMHO.

I found this quote about Carlos Lee on benmaller.com. I wonder what the statistics are for the Sox when Pods gets a hit, or a stolen base?

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) I think Randa would love the chance to play for a contender in whatever role ... A career of KC, and now last place Cinci? dont forget the stop in Detroit

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) They are both just trying to rile up the idiots and rarely discuss any of their actual beliefs on any sports topics. That right there makes them bad hosts. Riling up idiots isnt good sports radio, its Howard Stern bulls***.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) i'm an unemployed college kid Enjoy it. If I could reverse time that is exactly where I would be right now.

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) Why would it drive you nuts? psssst, its called excitement.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) This can only be bad for me. Thinking of Oswalt on the Sox is going to drive me nuts, and I won't be able to think of much else. LOL, i get the same way. One track mind.

QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) I was listening to the score yesterday Boers&Bernstein said that the Sox would be the underdogs in the playoffs.. NewFlash! gee, never heard that before

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) I could see that being a possibility for why brandon will start in oakland. Why does it always seem like the Sox play more games in Oakland every year than the A's play in Chicago? Maybe I am just remembering off years, but it seems like every year the Sox have two killer west coast swings through Oakland and then the A's come and play a 3 game set in Chicago. -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) On that list, I'd take Lidge and Randa. I'd also think about Bautista and Baez, depending on the price. Just to throw this out there, I saw an article that mentioned the Twins having an interest in Randa. That scares me a little bit. the Twins infield is a mess. I think they have Castro playing short now, on a bad ankle. Bartlett already got sent down. The Twins have a ton of outfield prospects and nowhere to put them, I wonder if they start dealing them soon?

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) I used to drive a milk truck and pick up milk from dairy farms. I'd leave at 2:00am, which sucked ass, but's I'd be home by noon a lot, which was great! I worked for a vending company and held similar hours. I hated it, even though i got home at 12. Then i would go to sleep, and wake up and be groggy for about 4 more hours, go back to sleep, wake up at 1(or 1:30 if I was dragging) and go through the whole routine. It was killer on my body clock, I will never do it again.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) Hanging around after the Royals finished BP and the freaking Doobie Brothers come out about 45 minutes before game time. They did Listen to the Music and Rockin' Down the Highway. It was great! Then they did the National Anthem. They hung around the whole night because after the game I saw (I think) Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons in front of their buses talking to some fans. Were they on the radio or TV? I would love to hear Farmer interview Pat Simmons. White Sox baseball, expect the unexpected. I had the same reaction as you TLAK, I thought it was really cool. I called my Dad right away, he thought is was pretty neat(even though he is a cub fan). Nothing wrong with some good old fashioned classic rock at the ballpark.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) Sisco could get sent back to the Cubs. If they want him sent down, he goes back to the cubs right?
-
Sisco cannot win for losing. He didnt pitch bad at all, just some bad luck.
-
Castillo drops alot of pitches.
