QUOTE(zygoat @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) dimitri young would be the worst player to get after that bulls*** comment "the american league central will be between the indians and the tigers" he would f*** everything up this is the lamest reason I have seen for not wanting to acquire Dmitri Young, and it seems to be common. So what if he ran his mouth at the beginning of the year? Everyone had the Indians picked for a rebirth, and Detroit looked pretty solid on paper. So he got caught up and made a prediction that his team will be better than all of the other teams in the division save one? Who cares? Could Dmitri Youngs bat be helpful in the order is the only question that should be asked. .263, 19 HR, .792 OBPS, 60 RBI. We already have these numbers in our lineup. So no, he really isnt needed.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) Turner is one of the boobs of hte last decade. Ohh god. Duke, stop drinking that SIU water, you must be on a boil order. Turner is the last OC the Bears had that actually produced.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 05:35 AM) wow thats low... :puke No, thats Anthrax. I have more faith in turner than I have had in any of the boobs that have replaced him in the past decade.

QUOTE(UC76 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) That comment about killing the fan base is right on. My mom isn't a huge baseball fan but she loves the Cubs and watches them a lot. When she happens to catch a Sox game she comments on how "dead" and "boring" it is. I can't argue there, especially when Hawk isn't saying anything (or isn't even there) or Hawk is answering his 156th e-mail of the night. The fact is, if a team's broadcast is boring then people aren't going to tune in. And if people don't tune in, you're not creating fans. Hell, just look at the Sox' "fan base" before this year. People are showing up now because the Sox are in first place, but where were they before? I'm not saying that's all Hawk's fault, but the fact that a lot of people can't stomach a Sox broadcast doesn't help. The fact is, a TV broadcast is like the face of a franchise. It's what you see everyday. Hawk is seen everyday. And people just don't like Hawk very much, except Sox fans (and not even all Sox fans.) As a lifelong, diehard Sox fan, I find Hawk bearable, but I'f be lying if I didn't say that I find his act old and dull and boring at times. And didn't Hawk get Wimpy fired because he was jealous of Wimpy's popularity? Come on now. That's very, very lame. So what you are saying basically, that the fanbase is showing up now that the Sox are in first place, but they werent showing up before, only because Hawk was running the broadcast? That is hilarious, and one doesnt have anything to do with the other. If your statement about your mom and your correlation between fans and broadcast were true, then the Sox wouldnt be selling out right now, and the fans would not be there. Last year the Cubs had Chip and Stone, and all of the Cubs fans hated those two(not so much Stone, but they were growing tired of him too) with a passion. Did they stop watching because of it, or did they chase away "potential" fans? No, not even by a longshot. Did people stop showing up at Wrigley when Chip and Stone were in the booth? Nope. But they sure stopped coming in droves this year, when they started sucking. Thats pretty much the only correlation, a teams popularity is based on their record and success. The TV broadcast does hardly anything to chase away or draw in potential viewers and fans. And if you think it does, find me some sort of correlation, and I will agree with you. But right now, it just sounds like you dont like Hawk and are trying to justify it by saying he chases away viewers like your mom.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Gena in a bottle was very hot. Just because she still had that inicent little girl thing going for her back then. It was sad when she died and they replaced her with that slut who did "dirty". She thinks she's latina yet she can't pull it off. Plus, who knows what she looks like under all that plaster? Somewhere along the line, someone told her that it is hot to be "shiny", and I think she replaced her blush with car wax, and replaced her conditioner with canola oil.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) Finch = HAWT. Sharapova = Hawt. I think we should do 32 instead of 64 Kalapse... An NIT tournament of hotness? We need to have the field of 64, with a play-in game. Gotta do it right

QUOTE(WSNS-TV44 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) Yep,as done like Shingo's Sox career. Well Shingo's career must be reviving somewhat then. http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/celebrity/34682004.htm I know its a tabloid mag, but when you google Williams and Fox, tabloids seem to be the only mags that know anything about those two. They have filed for divorce according to IMDB.com, but they havent gotten divorced as of right now.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) I'd have to add Harvey Keitel's scene in "Bad Lieutenant" when he pulls over the teenage girls for speeding. or Harvey Keitel stripping and seducing an ivory-tickling Holly Hunter in "The Piano" or Harvey Keitel talking to Madonna about a real-life embarrasing sex night in "Truth or Dare" or Harvey Kei... OH HELL... HARVEY KEITEL + SEX is embarrasing. PERIOD. If I recall correctly, the sex scene in The Piano is more of a rape scene, isnt it?

http://www.ew.com/ew/article/commentary/0,...94_1_0_,00.html Pretty funny list. Although I think Jason Biggs scene in American Pie where he has the spycam on when he is with Shannon Elizabeth merits a mention.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) When there are dozens or hundreds of content sites vs. one (iTunes), will that change your opinion? Im not worried about content sites. I use limewire, or I buy cds and rip my own cds. And if I need to take something off my Ipod, I just use my copypod program. Its all preference, people make a big deal out of the proprietary software, but it isnt an inconvenience for me.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) I was noticing all the new manufacturers offering portable, hard drive, media players. It appears the market is shaping up like the PC vs. Mac game. Apple continues to keep the iPod as a proprietary device versus the rest of the world. I see the iPod market share dropping into the teens within 3-4 years, if not sooner. With dozens, even hundreds of companies working on MP3 players and accessories Apple faces a major battle despite inventing the market. I love my Ipod, I will continue to stay with Apple until they start adding features that piss me off I guess. Apple has the distinction of setting the pace and the market for portable HD media players, and the name is everywhere. Of course with competition the market share will drop, but I dont know if it will be too much.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) No rookie has proven ANYTHING yet. But is that reason not to pay them? No. It's the way things work, you have to pay for your rookie. Our General Idiot just doesnt understand that. You are asking our general manager to set a precedent. That precedent is : Holdout on the Bears, and eventually they will give in. Duke, do you even understand how bad it would be even 10 years down the line if the Bears bend on this issue? This will be the status quo for all future high draft picks. You will be b****ing endlessly(and nonsensically now ) every year, for who knows how long? Angelo is a dick, and has made some awful decisions. But for once, this is a decision I completely agree with.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) If you take $23.5M off their hands for the next 3 yrs they can buy themselves a #1 starter. LOL, you are cracking me up Juggs. You are clinging to whatever shred of truth and possibility this trade holds. I hope it goes through as much as you do.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) I know exactly what happened last year. But the fact of the matter is, when last years #4 pick is given money like Rivers was, it sets a precedent for how much #4 picks are to make in the future. As you can see, the Bears are making damn sure that Phillip Rivers did NOT set a precedent. I want Benson in camp as much as you, but for once this isnt Jerry Angelos fault. You know it, I know it, We all know it. Even Benson knows it, but right now he is Ben$on, and all about the Benjamins.
