  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) thank you, i didnt even realize we were going to argue Chavez vs. Crede, come on. I don't think anyone is arguing Chavez vs. Crede, more like Chavez vs. Chavez's salary. I'm with some others here, I'd like to see him turn it around before investing that much money and prospects it would take to make a trade happen. He's hitting .218 with no power? Seems fishy to me.
  2. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) On with Boers and Bernstien explained why he is struggling this year and explained his team's struggles. Says if the A's keep losing- Beane will likely trade him to a contender. He says that there is no way (with his large contract) that he will be there when they are doing a rebuilding process. He said "I signed this deal knowing i will be on a contending team, and once the A's become a non-contending team I expects to be dealt to a contender." He also said Beane might wait a year to see if he can fix things for 2006 before he thinks about dealing Chavez. Kind of an interesting interview. Who knows what to expect with this situation... Can someone explain to me why B&B would be interviewing Eric Chavez? They usually interview players from the local teams or from teams currently playing the local ones. Seems a little strange to me. Also, for those that heard the interview, I'm curious as to what reasons he gave for his struggles?
  3. I'm probably crazy, but I would like to see Gload in there instead of Konerko. Would give the lineup more balance because he's another lefty, and one that is more of a line-drive hitter.
  4. This is Greg Walker's wet dream. Bottom of the 9th, tie game, and each of his hitters can swing for the fences.
  5. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 31, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) The reoccuring theme is that a bunch of newbies are posting the same crap over and over. That cannot be disputed. The topics on the first page are: '...Walkers nuts would be in my vise' 'Who is the better defensive shortsop?' 'Jokers Wild' 'Who is on your Sox wishlist' 'Sox notes: Takatsu needs to clear mind' 'New Beer Policy' 'White Sox and al-Qaida' '2005 Game Log' 'The last 10 days' 'Attendance 05-30-00' 'Ozzie's most dubious managerial call yesterday?' 'Terrible Topics today' 'My first game on the road' ''sup with Hermy?' 'Frank leaves game early' By my count, there's one thread critical of Ozzie, one critical of Crede, and one critical of Greg Walker. I don't see where you're getting this "same crap over and over."
  6. QUOTE(Wanne @ May 31, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) Oh without a doubt Uribe. The thing I always think about though is how better off would the Sox be if they'd have forked over 3 years instead of 2 for Vizquel...put Uribe at 3rd. I know the money was an issue so you might be lookin at no AJ (who's invaluable IMO). And I know hindsight sucks...but this team would be so better off with Viz at short...Uribe at 3rd...Willie in center and ARow in right. Just hypothetical if a decent discount RFer couldn't have been found. Well, the Giants ain't going anywhere. Maybe we can still get him?
  7. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 31, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) Point was that there was already 15 other threads b****ing about what and who is going wrong. That's the point me and aboz are trying to make. I looked at the front page and no where did I see another Greg Walker thread. Maybe you can point me to it.
  8. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 31, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) Can't you see aboz, if the Sox lose, it wasn't because the other team was the better team that day, it's because someone on the White Sox is f***ing up. Hell even when we win. All the regulars, save Scott Podsednik, have batting averages below their career norms. But I guess we're just being irrational.
  9. Agree with Wanne. Greg Walker has the entire line-up so pull happy it's not even funny. He can kiss "hisself" on the ass and be sent packing.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 31, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) Wow, you can look at both sides of the coin on this argument, so I wont even humor you, considering I was kidding in the first place. Everyone on here needs to take a xanax, drink an Old style and breathe. I think I'll pass on the Old Style. :puke
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ May 31, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) He's extremely durable and with a team built on pitching, his defense is definitely part of the equation. Randa has not been durable lately. Bad back, bad foot, arthro on his knee ... Not knocking him at all but it's true. You know, I think the "defense" drum for Crede's rag-ass has been beaten to death. To me, he's an OK defensive player but has far less ability than some of his supporters would suggest. One thing I should add though is I consider 3B to be an offensive position (with the other infield and outfield corner spots). Therefore, I would like to see more than just some decent defense.
  12. QUOTE(JimH @ May 31, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) Have you read or heard any of the quotes from Guillen or KW about them showing faith in these players? What does that tell you? To me, it says they're going to have faith in these current players, and make any moves if needed closer to the deadline. Wouldn't they almost have to be near retarded to say something like "Yes, we are actively looking for an upgrade over Joe Crede"? I'm sure Kenny would like to retain at least some bargaining power. Or if he can't succeed in securing an upgrade, he might want Crede to have some confidence left. Just looking back at these 8 pages, I can't believe we're arguing about the merits of keeping a 3B working on his second straight sub-.240 BA, and sub-.300 OBP season. About the only prevailing argument seems to be that he's cheap, which isn't much of an argument at all.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 31, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) Lets say this goes through. What in the hell do we do next year in the hot corner?? Fields is NOT ready. What's the difference? What he have there right now is as bad as it gets. Any stop-gap player is an upgrade.
  14. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 31, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) Well, the question you guys have to ask is... Does the difference between Randa's bat and Crede's outweigh the difference between Randa's glove and Crede's? I think it does. A subsequent question needs to be asked as well: Is Joe Randa even bad defensively? From what I can tell, he's a very nice fielder. For the record, I would welcome him with open arms. In a lineup dominated with pull hitters, a smart player like Randa would be terrific. He's 35 and on a one-year deal, so I doubt it would take very much to get him.
  15. QUOTE(JimH @ May 30, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) To me the worst managing of the day was Mike Sciocia leaving Shields in the game after he walked the first two guys. I don't think the Angel pen was that depleted ... ? If I'm an Angel fan, I really question his bottom of the 9th managing. Shields is their closer with K-Rod on the DL. You sink or swim with him in that situation no matter what. Any manager would do the same.
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) Also, what the... If Iguchi turns a routine DP, no one has a problem... Only if they didn't watch our offense operate for the first 8 innings.
  17. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) Our approach??? So Crede's approach was good last year? Uribe didn't have any slumps? Frank actually listens to hitting coaches?? Uh, and who was Crede's hitting coach last year? I'm just wondering why under the watchful eye of Greg Walker, guys like Konerko, Crede, Dye, and even AJ have become dead-pull hitters?
  18. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Why don't all you Greg Walker haters tell us who to hire instead of who to fire. You're just part of the problem if you don't propose a solution. WTF? Yeah, I guess we should all just have these prospective hitting coaches on speed dial. Whether or not you like Walker, it's hard to argue that with the exception of Pods, Iguchi, and Rowand, our approach at the plate is awful.
  19. This is the worst games we've played all year, not too far from that performance last week in Anaheim. Although that one wasn't as poorly managed. Ozzie is like Dusty Baker only with a Scarface gimmick. f*** him.
  20. Worst managed game of the season. Buehrle should have 9 wins if not for our s***ty manager and offense. Horrible, horrible game. :puke :puke
  21. Note to those saying many posters here are too negative after losses. Even if the Sox hang on to win this game, I will still be pissed. With the exception of Buehrle, this has just been a pathetic effort.
