  1. No way!!!! BA actually does something good at the plate.
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) They will bomb the crap out of Lee. He is a guy who tries to pound in, and doesnt have a plus fastball. He feeds in our team. CC is another animal all together. Greg Smith should be fun. I've got tickets for Wednesday and I'm more excited about our chances off CC.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 07:48 PM) He had a set back. Where did you hear/read this?
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 07:45 PM) If PK is out for an extended period with his side, I hope we call up Eldred to face LHP. I can't stand watching Swisher and Anderson in the lineup every game against LHP. Why stop there? Get Fields up here too when he gets healthy.
  5. If Buehrle is going to get that strike down and away all game, AJP might as well park himself there.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 07:22 PM) Anderson is such a better CF than Wise. Wise gets terrible jumps on the ball. Not that Anderson did anything special on that double, but he's so much more smooth (better range, better jumps, better arm). I was just kidding.
  7. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 12:47 PM) Of course you TRY to win that third game, but you don't see it as a "must-win" or anything ridiculous like people are suggesting in this thread. People here need to stop worrying about the Cubs. They're not a division rival, and they're not even in the same f'n league. People here are not worried about the Cubs. They may hate the Cubs but are not worried about them. We are worried about the Tigers and Twins who have made up 6 and 5 games, respectively, over the last 2+ weeks. Hence, we need to win as many games as possible.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 03:58 AM) I'm startin' to get a lilttle scared. We're not winning jack without Javy performing up to expectations. Hopefully it's just a bad month. Vazquez is 31 and has a career 4.29 ERA. His ERA in 2008 is 4.49. What were your expectations? Maybe they've been unrealistic because he's pretty much in-line with his career norms.
  9. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) So, despite the fact that it's almost impossible to win every single game, a team shouldn't be satisfied because they won 2/3? That doesn't make any sense to me. A team that wins 2/3 of their games is a lock for the playoffs with 107 wins. Of course you want to win every game that you can, but it's a lot more practical to focus on winning each series. That's the strategy that the Sox employed in 2005 and it seemed to work pretty well for them. My point was that people are letting their hatred of the Cubs cloud their minds. A win tonight would be valuable in the sense that it'd give the Sox a chance to go up an extra game on the Twins. "Payback" for last weekend's sweep at Wrigley is nothing more than a bonus. The Sox need to worry about the Twins, Indians, Tigers, and Royals. The Cubs are irrelevant. No, what I meant was a team's mindset should be to win every game regardless of what happened earlier in the series. And as I've said, it obviously won't happen every time out. But you seemed to be suggesting that a loss today wouldn't be so bad because we've already taken the first 2 games. I disagree because every loss is equally bad and every win is equally good.
  10. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 11:32 AM) I don't agree with that at all. A sweep would certainly be nice, but a team's goal should always be to win a series. They've already done that have atoned for last weekend's embarrassment. The Sox need to focus on the big picture, not sweeping the Cubs to fulfill some retarded "bragging rights" claim. The Sox will have those rights until the North Side Chokes win a championship. Are you kidding me? Last I checked all games count the same. At the end of the season, teams are judged by how many games they've won and lost, not how many regular season series they've won and lost. Each team's goal should be to win every game. Obviously that won't happen but we can't be satisfied just because we won the first two (and this works for every team against every opponent).
  11. I like this although I'm surprised Ozzie is actually making a switch.
  12. Nothing like setting up 20 in. off the plate on every hitter.
  13. Well, Wise not having a good game. If he can't even move guys over, then there's no point in having BA on the bench.
  14. I really like us not dicking around here before tying it.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) I wonder if he's hurt. He truly sucks. He's not hurt. This is how he has been 4 of the last 5 years. He throws hard so people assume he'll just pitch like he did in 2007 all the time.
