QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) serious question: who'd you rather have right now, Wood or Jenks as your closer? I'm leaning towards Bobby as he's a bit younger and seems to have more pitches, and doesn't have the injury history that Wood does But Wood has a more devastating fastball IMO I would take Kerry Wood in a second.
-
If only we can get the tying run to the plate.
-
I bet Ramirez walks to set up the Thome groundout.
-
Brian Anderson should be riding a bus.
-
Maybe we should think about adding some pitching? At least there's going to be some impact pitchers available.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 01:44 PM) What more does Dempster have to do to get any credit on this board? He's been a top 10 starter in all of baseball this season. There's just as good of a chance of him keeping it up all season as Floyd or Danks. Ryan Dempster is journeyman pitcher having the best season of his carreer at 30. Floyd and Danks were highly touted prospects. And you're sold more on Dempster than you are on the other 2, for whatever reason.

What's really scary is that our pitching is that our two supposed best pitchers are going down the crapper this month. Floyd has struggled only a little, and Buehrle's rebounded nicely, but the last thing I want is having the offense carry this team. Because they sure as hell can't do it.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) Yesterday's loss was horrible, we shoud've won that game. Today however, we're giving it away. We're not giving it away. We're getting our asses kicked. I am ok with this though because Contreras sucked and you can't do anything about it. But I will complain all day about a game like yesterday's where the team just kills itself with terrible hitting. I just wish people would STFU about telling me such a loss is ok. Yesterday's game was the biggest one this series (for us, at least).

I was told yesterday's loss was OK, because we can go get 'em today. YAY!

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 04:40 PM) you mean like in the 9th inning of a tie game with 0 outs? No, I mean bases empty v. RISP. The game was tied in part because of Anderson's failures in the earlier innings. The guy's hitting .238/.266/.385. Are you going to argue he's a good hitter? If not, then what the heck are you trying to argue?

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 04:37 PM) Stupid doubles.... Don't tell me what you hit, tell me when you hit.
-
I don't have a problem with any of Ozzie's decisions today. The hitting was atrocious, again. I never, ever want to see Brian Anderson with a bat in his hands for the White Sox.

This was exactly like the last game @ Tampa. What were we with RISP? 0-9 or something? I thought this was the one to get today. -
About as good of an all-around game as you can ask for. Let's put the hammer down tomorrow.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 11:42 PM) It was just one of those games, right Frankensteiner? Nope, no game is ever one of those games. That implies things were somehow magically out of the team's control. Every game is either a win or a loss and it's a result of the team's play. This was a win due to our terrific hitting.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 09:36 PM) I started feeling bad for Pitt. Hope we didn't blow our wad for the entire week.

QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) They are fine at piling on. Where was Thome's homer when the bags were loaded earlier? I hate to complain right now, but I know that what I'm seeing is meaningless as soon as the game ends. Best non-pressure team in baseball. -

I am going to say Swisher is the player of the game today. Some big hits and big runs scored. How do you guys like the pitching matchup for the Cubs series? I am kind of optimistic. -

QUOTE (shawnhillegas @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) I'm not necessarily advocating lineup changes, but it is interesting that our hottest hitters (Dye, Swisher, Crede, Sexy Alexei) are all bringing up the rear. It seems like it's been like that all year. Bottom of the order, whoever is hitting there, has been carrying this team. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 08:10 PM) Right I forgot how great Wise is. My bad. Strawman. Neither is great. Wise can do some things better than BA, and vice-versa. That is why they will be splitting time. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 08:04 PM) And so does the guy batting. I was a little annoyed that we called up Wise. But I'm really annoyed he's starting over BA. What is Ozzie's beef with BA? Ozzie's main beef with BA is that he's just not that good. -

A great inning so far.
