Here is a quote that infuriated me: If he means guys are trying to swing as hard as they possibly can to hit the ball in the left field seats, then he would be correct. But that is not effort. Those are s***ty, selfish at bats from a bunch of dumb hitters.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) Yes, I'm serious. What does Ozzie expect KW to do personnel wise? We used some very valuable resources to acquire OC and Swisher this offseason. After 2 months in the season, does Ozzie expect teams to just be selling off their players for 50 cents on the dollar? So who's the idiot who traded for Swisher and OC? I don't really get your attitude. As part of your strange anti-Ozzie crusade, you seem more happy that Ozzie has some harsh comments thrown his way than to hear the Sox might actually do something to improve thier s***ty hitting. I guess whatever floats your boat. Those comments are pretty much KW deflecting blame for getting a couple duds and letting his roster get old. Oh well. I guess it's Ozzie's fault.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) From the Sun-Times: Williams was at home when informed of Guillen's comments, and made it clear he wasn't happy about them. ''Very interesting, very disappointing,'' Williams said. ''It's never a good idea to throw your boss under the bus, especially when that boss has had his back as much as I have. I guess that lineup will be real interesting to see on Tuesday. ''We have the horses. Everyone has to stay positive and keep grinding. If you're looking for a quick fix personnel-wise, with the climate right now, you're not going to get it. I expect more of everyone in that uniform and certainly the guy leading the team on the field.'' As for potential changes, Guillen is in charge of hiring and firing his coaching staff, a power granted by Williams after the 2005 season. So if Walker is sent packing, it will be Guillen's call. So he wasn't talking about Walker, because firing him is Ozzie's call not KW's. Paraphrased: I put together this mess but it's Ozzie's job to fix it while I sit here with a thumb up my ass. Thank you.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 04:00 PM) Wow, awesome comments by KW! Are you being serious? because those got me real excited for the rest of the year.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) Reds are playing some good ball, they won't trade Dunn unless they get a #2 or 3 starter in return. I'd give up the whole farm for Holliday though, but where would he play? I actually would prefer Dunn as Holliday has the Coors Fiel thing going on. But either would be fine. Holliday could play corner OF if we outright decide to bench Thome or Konerko. That is the only way. I doubt they would do it, but Thome does have that option, so it's like killing two birds with one stone. I agree with Cinci playing well right, but realistically they're going nowhere. I think Dunn could be had, doesn't mean the Sox will get him though. I know neither are probably very realistic. But I can't think of any other moves that would actually improve this team.

Can we trade like Nick Swisher + Broadway for Adam Dunn? Or Swisher + Broadway + Poreda for Matt Holliday? Swisher at rock bottom hitting wise but he's still got enough of a track record and cheap contract where maybe people would think he has value. Sorry, couldn't help myself...

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:03 PM) Good luck trying to acquire middle of the order guys. This move allows OC to move into the 2nd spot, and you can put AJP into the middle of the lineup. Well, then we're f***ed. Christian Guzman won't hit over .240 for the rest of the year.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) Trade Egbert and Richar (I don't think organization is too high on him) for C. Guzman, and then play him at 2nd base and leadoff. Move Ramirez to CF, and have Swisher rotate around the field and play 4 games a week until he gets it going. That move won't do anything. We need productive middle of the order hitters. Either have our own get going or bring in other guys who can.

I bet there are no consequences. Same old s***. It's been 2 years of pure bulls*** and still nothing. So why would they do something now?

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) Our team has given up less than 3 runs a game this month and we are only 3 games over 500 for the month. Our offense better get its head out of its ass soon. I agree with this but I'm doubting anything is actually going to be done about it. We've been awful for 2 years now. I bet they'll just stick with same old s***.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:06 PM) oh a trio im not entirely sure, but there probably is......yankees...pavano giambi and almost anyone (maybe damon) mariners have beltre silva and sexson which has to be maybe the worst dodgers have pierre loaiza and andruw just about all those trios make more than our trio and are equally as bad or worse Giambi is like top 5 AL in OPS. Damon has an .838 OPS. These guys are freaking Hall of Famers compared to what we've got going on. Beltre has been pretty good, too. Certainly more productive than our guys. Silva and Sexson have been bad, but it's still just those two guys vs. our pathetic 3. Jones has been bad. Pierre is OK for what they want out of him. Loaiza has been about as good as Buehrle. Those guys make about $10-12 M less than our three.
