  1. QUOTE (RME JICO @ May 28, 2008 -> 01:43 PM) Almost 1/3 of Cleveland's wins came with Lee starting (they're 17-27 when he doesn't start). With Carmona on the shelf for a month, their rotation is not as good as it looks. Sabathia - Lee - Laffey - Westbrook - Byrd is as good as it looks. Still slightly better than our rotation, imo.
  2. I think Floyd looked Ok outside of that 6th inning. 0 bb, 7 K. Not too bad. Really, his biggest mistake might have been that error in the 1st.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 28, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) It is? Do you have faith in the Sox scoring 3 or more runs?
  4. It sucks to know the game is already over in the 1st inning.
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 27, 2008 -> 06:36 PM) AJ, thome, dye and kong were the big 4 that supposedly had "off" seasons in 07. Two have come around. I just don't know that we're going to see anything different from PK and Thome. Thome didn't have an "off" season last year. He was top 5 in AL OPS.
  6. I think we should start using Masset in some of these Wasserman/Logan situations. I know he's the long guy and all, but he deserves a shot at some more meaningful work.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) I've never been a Boone Logan fan. Throw some strikes. Me neither. Terribly overrated on this site.
  8. Hafner not looking so good so far this season. I thought Thome and Konerko had problems.
  9. That's our first break of the game. Clevalnd's had about 5.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2008 -> 06:53 PM) Walk Sizemore, and go after Francisco. Francisco is hot. Plus I don't like walking guys this early.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 15, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) And Thome's hitting .150 over that same time period. Still has 6 walks and a .646 OPS making him the better hitter over that time span.
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 15, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) BA's looked more impressive than Thome lately. Define lately. BA over the last 7 days: .167/.167/.417/.583. I really have no idea why Brian Anderson gets so much hype here. He's a marginal major league player with a really solid glove.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 15, 2008 -> 10:15 PM) PK and Thome have to prove they can hit this season also. Both those guys are still hitting better than Anderson.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) They'd be so much better right now if they let Anderson play CF and Swisher play 1b. Yeah, they'd be just unstoppable with Anderson in the lineup.
  15. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 15, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) They will get to Garland. Hope you are right. Unfortunately, I don't share your confidence.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ May 14, 2008 -> 12:11 AM) After every game and every series, it seems more and more likely that we are looking at a 100 loss team. I think its time we stop kidding ourselves into thinking that this offense is going to wake up from the dormant state it has been in since the 2006 All-Star break. We had a better record last year at this point. Though our starting pitching is vastly improved and could prolong 4-24 stretches like last year, I wonder how long Danks and Floyd will hold up. Buehrle has been terrible, and Contreras could fall apart at a moment (also the guy is probably in his 50s). And Vazquez showed his 6th inning allergic reaction last week, lets hope that doesn't happen all over again. I also don't feel like our pen is that great, this team is eerily similar to last season's, sans an Erstad here and an Andy Gonzalez and Luis Terrero there. So if we are in the same boat as last year at the All-Star break, I think we'll be cutting our losses and dealing the older guys and beginning the rebuilding process. All that seems to add up to a team that threatens to lose 100 games or something near that. Then again, maybe things will turn around and I can eat crow and say I panicked about a season thats only 6 weeks old with plenty of time to right this ship. I am fine with that. This is not a 100 loss team. Could be a pretty decent team if coaches, managment, and/or players show urgency to get things done. Now, the theme with the Sox org and players is stubborness so it's anyone's guess if things get resolved (i.e. hitting coach needs to be fired, approach needs to change, etc.). It's at worst a .500 team in my oppinion.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 14, 2008 -> 12:01 AM) Dotel looks like he wasn't worth the money. Yikes. Dude, what the hell are you talking about. We've got 5 five turds all making between $5M - $15M hitting below .230, all while lacking any sort of baseball acumen. And you're talking about Dotel because he gave up a single in the 8th inning?
  18. This is the only team in baseball that would be a contender AFTER having a fire-sale. Take Uribe, Swisher, OC, Thome, and Konerko and flush them all down the toilet.
