  1. QUOTE (G&T @ May 7, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) I think they have plenty of "energy." They don't have an ability to hit moving baseballs. Yeah, I have no idea why energy and hitting are synonymous. If that were true, Pablo Ozuna would hit .330 every year.
  2. We apologize for last night's interruption. We will now take you back to our regularly scheduled offensive output.
  3. Sox make it look so easy when it doesn't really count.
  4. Watch us score like 12 now. No pressure baseball = Sox at their best.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 6, 2008 -> 07:37 PM) When we were at the game in Baltimore my friend the asshole O's fan blurted it out really loud and the very next batter got it past Crede. I tried to slap him but I was at a bad angle. OMG! Teh power of teh voice!!!111!
  6. Pretty sweet oppo from JD. I'd love to see more of that.
  7. You know, Floyd still has a no hitter. I think it's already the third time this season he's taken a no hitter into the 6th. That's pretty amazing.
  8. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 6, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) Walk Error - to 2nd Flyout - advance to 3rd Sac fly - score Yeah, but he doesn't score without the error as they didn't even get a hit/walk.
  9. I am looking at the ESPN box score and they have that as an earned run. How can that be an earned run?
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) As bad as Swisher has supposedly been offensively, his OBP is better than Pods' was in 2005. He is scoring runs at a higher rate than Pods did in 2005 and he is driving in runs at a higher rate than Pods did in 2005. To be fair, Pods didn't cost you your 3 best prospects.
  11. Even though there's a lefty, Pablo is the last guy I want up in this situation.
  12. I don't know if it will happen tonight by the Sox offense (probably not) but BJ Ryan is going to have some problems this year.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) The Sox had a payroll over 100 million dollars last year, and barely won 70 games. The only person who wasn't brough back was Razor Shines. That's all you need to know. I certainly hope you're not trying to insinuate Kenny won't fire Greg Walker. He's already fired two other guys in his tenure.
  14. Remember in 2005 when Cleveland couldn't hit and then they fired Eddie Murray, and then started hitting. This happens every year: i) team can't hit ii) team fires hitting coach iii) team starts hitting What is taking so long?
  15. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 2, 2008 -> 08:23 PM) here is what is worriesome Thome is 38...theres no guarantee hes gonna hit above .230 this year...guys (especially non roid users) usually fall pretty hard pretty quickly...Konerko has always been said to have a body that looks 4 years older than he is and he doesnt have the same bat speed he used to...he and dye are on the downside and its a real possibility that they are honestly a couple years from being done...ditto cabrera on that... that said, swisher should certainly be hitting...but beyond that...im pretty worried that these guys actually arent gonna start to hit, because frankly they are nearing the end of their careers Dye had a really good 2nd half last season. I think he'll be ok. I think Thome will be Ok, too. I don't think his bat speed is a problem. Konerko I can see, but he should still be a decent hitter (.850 OPS).
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) There is no veteran leadership on this club, in terms of the offensive side. PK and Dye seem content with their contracts and 2005 WS ring. Quentin and Anderson seem like the only ones out there trying to generate something. The sooner OC and Crede realize they're in contract years, they'll be much better. This is as good as you can hope with Crede, imo. .255, some bombs, jerk & pull, etc... For a guy who's supposedly uber-clutch his close & late stats aren't anything impressive, and slightly worse than his overall numbers.
  17. Looks like Buehrle's going to get stuck with the CG loss. Unreal.
  18. QUOTE (frankie5angels @ May 2, 2008 -> 07:48 PM) They may be better, but except for CQ, none of them are hitting a lick. Yeah, we're a month into the season.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2008 -> 07:45 PM) Yes, but the difference between the Tigers lineup and Sox lineup is HUGE. I don't think the Sox lineup is better than the Indians lineup though. Well, if you're going by current performance. The Sox lineup is way better than the Cleveland's. If you're going by historical performance, the Sox lineup is still better. I think the gap between the Sox and Detroit's pitching is pretty huge.
  20. QUOTE (frankie5angels @ May 2, 2008 -> 07:45 PM) Where were you last season when they said the same thing about this offense. They kept saying, it will hit, it will hit. They never hit. Swisher, OC, and Quentin are a lot better than Andy Gonzalez, Pods, and Erstad. Konerko and Dye SHOULD have better seasons. I agree that Walker needs to be fired.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) Enjoy today...very possibly the last day they're in first place all season. I can't for the life of me understand why you keep saying this. This team should be performing much better than it is. It's the 2nd best lineup in the division and they have better pitching than the team with the best lineup. I'd like to see a shakeup (Walker firing) but I think they will hit regardless. This is pathetic, though.
  22. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 2, 2008 -> 07:27 PM) to credit marcum...he hasnt thrown a ball above mid thigh all game.. At this point, I am not giving any pitcher the benefit of the doubt.
  23. Good thing Uribe is the #9 hitter or else I'd have reason to be pissed.
  24. Depressing: 9. J. Uribe 1. N. Swisher 2. O. Cabrera
