  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) It's inexcusable to let Floyd continue after an hour long rain delay. If you're saying that it puts Floyd at an injury risk, then I could understand that complaint. But if you're going strictly based on performance, I'd rather have Floyd out there than going to Macdougal and Dotel.
  2. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) looks like this should pass in about a half hour and after that should be clear sailing...we are gonna get this thing in So why the hell are people glad with this delay? We are going to lose a battle of the bullpens, especially already down by 3 runs.
  3. Can somebody verify Greg Walker has a pulse?
  4. QUOTE (Cowch @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 10:10 PM) Oh well, not a horrible loss. As bad as the hitting was, this was the fault of Javy. Yeah, it was downright fun.
  5. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) Who knows. He could be taking velocity off on purpose for more control, his walk rate really went down last season. Somehow I doubt that is the reason. I have seen guys who take off velocity to get more control but they are still capable of hitting their old velocity at key points in an outing. Jenks isn't even close to coming to 100 mph. It's either ware & tare or something else...
  6. Can someone explain to me how Jenks goes from occasionally hitting 100 to occasionally hitting 94? I mean seriously... I guess I'm not that worried about his general effectiveness but there has to be a reason for the loss in velocity, right?
  7. At least we've made it respectable. There's your silver lining.
  8. f*** it's Rivera. It has to be awesome to have your closer go more than an inning.
  9. I would never, ever give Joe Crede a long-term contract extension. Not with his back, injury history, and inconsistency. If he continues to have a great year, then great. Thank the baseball gods everyday. Hopefully it get us to the playoffs and we can be happy. But he's not the type of guy you would ever give a 5yr/$75M contract. That's just crazy.
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:34 PM) AJ and Dye's averages over .300 and OPS over .900 are kid of hard to look at without averting your eyes as well They've had good seasons but that was one major choke job of a game from Dye yesterday. As bad as I have seen from any player this season.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) No. Every hitter should hit .400 or they suck. Strawman.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) He's been very unappreciated. He plays good defense, hits 20 homers and drives in 70 every year. Sure, all his other numbers suck. He hits 9th and drives in 70 runs. That's probably better than most 9th place hitters. He's struggling now, but will go on a hot streak eventually. He always does. This board treats him like he's a career .150 hitter. I don't know, his numbers have been going down every single year since he got here. You would like to think he'll be better but automatically assuming he can get to 20HR/70 RBI isn't right. BTW, if he were hitting around a .700 OPS that would be passable. He's at .515 now which is not passable. I think this would be the worst month he's had in a Sox uni.
  13. Do 9th place hitters count differently in the stats than hitters in other spots? I mean is it ok for a guy to suck because he's the 9th place hitter.
  14. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) did anyone think we were really an elite AL team? I sure didnt....we are losing but man guys...we werent gonna go the whole year without struggling...especially against the yankees...It would be nice to see the offense pick it up yeah, but we are at best a slightly above .500 team....and thats how we have played so far this season....it would have been nice if hte pen held the game yesterday, and woulda been nice to beat a struggling mussina tonight, but im not gonna get my panties in a bunch because we lost 2 in a row to the yankees...we have beaten the teams we should beat, and outside the opening series against hte tribe this will be the first series loss...stinks, but lets win tomorrow and go get the orioles That's fine and all... but it doesn't take an elite team to beat 39 year old Mike Mussina. And the Yankees are not an elite team themselves, at least the way they've been playing so far (almost got swept by Baltimore). And I disagree with us beeing a slightly above .500 team. If Danks/Floyd/Contreras had been pitching in-line with their pre-season expectations, I would agree with that. But they've been pretty awesome and it's the parts that SHOULD have been our backbone that have been struggling. It's absolutely inexcusable for this offense to hit like it has the last week and a half.
  15. How many god damn pitcher have had their best game of the season against the Sox? Mussina, Sonanstine, Greg Smith... that is all within the last week and a half.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 07:55 PM) We're still in first place after tonight. That is unrelated to this game. It's a season thing.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 07:54 PM) Yankees are just a better team right now. We better win 3 against the Orioles this wknd. You know that won't happen. I'm sure they have some s*** pitcher who can float a curve and spot a change down & away who will shut us down. I can't for the life of me understand how Greg Walker has a job year after year where we have different players yet are subject to same pathetic-ass hitting approach.
  18. I can't think of a single good thing about this game. f***ing embarassment.
  19. Overheard on the Sox bench: "See that's how you beat Mussina. Try to take him deep by pulling the ball."
  20. But hey, last night's loss was ok. We have our ace going today against over-the-hill Mussina. What's to worry about? Please, never justify a loss with a "we'll get 'em tomorrow" attitude.
  21. That's game right there. As I said yesterday, we are pathetic right now.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 07:09 PM) Might be my first negative post about Swisher all year, but his near .200 batting average vs righties has to pick up. I'd like to see him hit for some power this year too. .349 SLG isn't very good.
