QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 08:38 PM) He has saved how many games this year with the same stuff. The minute he blows a save, the radar gun police come out. He f***ed up, it happens. I guess we will see how this holds up the rest of the season when people aren't looking at scouting reports from last year. You may be right, but as a general rule, I never like hearing a guy's velocity is going down. And then it's said the guy is just becoming more of a pitcher or something to that effect (which to me is usually a euphemism for "he's losing his stuff"). This approach is not working out very well for Justin Verlander.

Where is Jenks' fastball? He looks like fat Billy Koch out there with his beard and low 90's heat.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 07:01 PM) I wish Paulie wouldn't go into these long funks. His slow periods last for weeks. His first game against CC, he was short quick, and drove the ball to right. Then he decided f*** that, and started the lift and pull attack and is now meat on breaking stuff and changeups. I don't know. He looked dead on those fastballs too.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 06:26 PM) Good, Gavin looked a little tired last inning. I'm sure he was throwing with a lot of adrenaline to start the game, and that will zap your stamina. Don't know if I'm that excited about going into our bullpen with Linebrink and Jenks having pitched the last 2 days. Our hitting needs to wake the f*** up.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 16, 2008 -> 08:59 PM) I know you're not bashing Carlos at all, but you sort of have to keep things in perspective with him. Coming into this season, he had less than 400 major league AB's. He also played sporadically during ST. It seems a lot of us treat him like a veteran hitter(which is a compliment) but he still has a ton to learn, and IMO is doing a nice job. Oh yeah, it's still early. I agree with you there. And you're right, I'm not bashing him at all. I've seen people praise him here, however, and while I love his approach, I expect him to hit better. I think he'll have close to an .850 OPS at the end of the season which would be really good.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 16, 2008 -> 08:45 PM) I know it doesn't seem like it, but coming in to tonight, the Sox actually had scored the 4th most runs in MLB. It's hard to complain with those results but there's some things that can be improved upon. Crede is coming back down to earth a little bit (which is to be expected). Thome, Konerko, and Quentin need to pick it up. I like Quentin getting on base but I'd also like to see him hit a little bit better than he has now (HR yesterday notwithstanding). Thome hopefully gets going after today.

Great game by Jose. I thought it was pretty crazy to suggest Jose be released/replaced in the rotation a few games back. I don't think he'll have a great season but he's as likely to be a competent #3 starter as anybody else in our system (this includes Danks & Floyd). A great game by Thome as well, which might be an even bigger positive than Jose's performance.

I'm feeling Thome has no chance here but stranger things have happened. -

Santiago Casilla looks scary. Uribe is DOA.
