QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) Or you could maybe bring something of value to the site instead of lame ass comments like these. I'll keep that in mind. Maybe you can come up with some other ways to immortalize Brian Anderson in the meantime.
-
And here we go again with the Brian Anderson fan convention...
-
Ozzie = genius.
-
So did Hicks say something about Young specifically or all the team's players in general?

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) Doesn't every lineup in baseball go cold at some point? I mean, does it really take a rocket scientist to predict these things? I'll give you credit for the response, though. Yes, that's true. But I thought our lineup was particularly performing over their collective heads. We went from #1 in runs pre-ASB to #6 post-ASB (in the AL). This was my concern, that the offense couldn't carry the weak pitching for an entire year. That's basically what happened, imo.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) The sad part though is that a lot of people in say, around June, were pointing at flaws like the batting average of Brian Anderson or the unreliability of Javier Vazquez as things we needed to correct. Those aren't the things we're fighting now though. Sometimes you just can't anticipate that everyone in your lineup will suddenly go cold, that Javier Vazquez will get hot, that Bobby Jenks will struggle for several games in a row after 39 saves, or that Brian Anderson would find his bat and Ozzie Guillen would punish him with less playing time down the stretch. Actually, that is exactly what was anticipated. I very much expected this lineup to go cold at some point and thought the starting pitching wasn't good enough to overcome a slump. And that is exactly what happened in July and August. Our starters are coming on just in time.
-
Bust. I guess those of us who pointed out this team's faults in early June (and were subsequently flamed) were just being unfairly pessimistic.
-
We really need to get our bullpen right. We have a couple of studs (MacDougal, Thornton), an injured stud (Jenks), and then what seems like a bunch of players who have no business even coming into a ML game.
-
We really need a Mike MacDougal Appreciation Thread. He's been awesome with holding down this bullpen. That's turning into a great move in hindsight by KW.
-
One question that needs to be answered is the amount of spending money we'll have in the offseason. I would try to make a play for Soriano if that's feasible after dumping one or two of our starting pitchers. One of the two starting spots would go to McCarthy and then I'd sign a 5th starter type who can give you some innings (Lidle?).
-
It's not a defining moment if we don't play well the rest of the year.

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) 9-1 loss to Cleveland...geeze...after such a promosing game yesterday? This team is hard to figure. No it's not. It would just require watching the team for the last 2 months. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) You are just a horrible, horrible fan. That is all. I didn't think he said anything bad there. I said last night's game vs. Boston was a total repeat of the series finale against Minnesota. We played awesome that game but it didn't carry over to the rest of the games that week.
-
Like I said before this series started, the best we can hope for is a split. We'll be 4-6 through 10 games of our critical 32 game stretch. And this is by far the easiest 10 games out of that 32 game stretch. We probably won't even manage a .500 record. Good job getting this team help, Kenny. Nice group of winners you put together.
-
As expected, same old s***.
-
This team deserves to get booed. If you play hard and play smart, I don't have a problem. We're playing idiotic baseball with pathetic situation hitting.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) Maybe because all of our hitters pretty much do it, and I am sure that the coach that would have this sit down talk preaches it. Lift and Pull. Thank God ozzie keeps Mark in. His back deserved an MRI, but he still starts tonight. What a smart smart man this Ozzie Guillen is. I don't think it's his back. He's just bad.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) He's the captain...and doing just a terrible job of setting the tone for this team. I think, next to Vazquez, the biggest waste of $12M. I honestly would have had no problem with Gload as our starting 1B.
-
Why has no one on the team sat Konerko down and asked him why he feels obligated to pull every pitch?
-
Well, at least no DP for Paulie.
-
It's now or never with captain worthless on deck.
-
Buehrle is just bad, there's no two ways about it. He had a good start agaisnt the Twins which got people excited, but it's too much like the rest of our starters (with the exception of Garland) where a good start is a total fluke.
-
5-0 coming up.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) If it's possible, Brian Anderson has become an overrated .230 hitter. I'm still optimistic he'll turn into a good hitter, but he's hitting a very soft .230 this season. Careful there. It's the greatest .230 season I have ever seen.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) Even though the Red Sox returned their main guys, I think it's safe to say they were quite rusty at the plate. Well, I don't know about that. Contreras did look good so I'm hopeful there, but Buehrle's was fortunate not to get killed his last start. I knew he'd serve up his meatballs tonight. Offensively, we got out to a lead and then we're best when playing without any pressure. I see a horrible approach tonight.
