QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) 2 runs thru 4.2 innings against Silva is disappointing. Twins have to think the same about their offense vs. Buehrle. -

A 2-1 lead to the Twins still feels like we're trailing by 2 runs. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) The Twins pitching isn't that bad. All the need is for guys like Bonser, Silva, and Garza to go 5 innings without allowing a huge number, and their strong offense and great bullpen will give them a great chance to win. Has there been any word on Radke? Santana + 4 other guys isn't really that good of a pitching staff. -

How f***ing stupid are these hitters? Jesus, why do we keep pulling the ball like morons. That could have been a huge clutch hit instead this game is far from over. -

We better score two more since Buehrle is just about guaranteed to give at least one run back. -

Everyone except Dye, Konerko, and Crede has been pretty terrible this month. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) I wasn't given the Mr. Pessimism moniker. I think it's stupid, especially as I've been one of the few people who haven't proclaimed our season is over yet. The reason I assumed PK would hit into a DP is because PK is slow as hell, and Silva is a sinker ball pitcher. And PK can go into retard mode with trying to pull everything... -

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) Look my only beef is that you always find the negative spin on damn near every situation. You even put a tag on yourself as Mr. Pessimism. WTF is that? PK comes up with 1 & 3 with one out and you immediately insinuate PKDP coming....it is just flat out tiring. Man I sit back and say to myself...kill em PK...lets get POSITIVE energy and CONFIDENCE back on our side. What difference does it make whether you're optimistic or pessmistic? It has no bearing on the team whatsoever. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) Buehrle's only given up 1 run so far. If you didn't know better, you would have thought that he had allowed 5 runs already. Well, give him time. If you give up a run in the first inning, chances are good you're not done giving up runs. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 01:30 PM) He's gone 2 innings, 1 run so far. That's better than his season average. You sure do pick peculiar times to rant. I'm not sure what this should mean. Giving up 1 run in the first 2 innings with a 4.88 ERA on the season is bad all the way around. -

Let's just be happy we don't have to play 4 or 5 games against this team because we would lose all of them. -

This is like a slightly less embarassing version of the Yankees/Red Sox from last week. -
Yup, MVP.
-
Brandon McCarthy should have been a f***ing starter in July. That's all I have to say about this game. We'd be at least 3 up right now.
-
The DAGGER!!!
-
About the only good news is that we're still only 1.5 back and now it looks like the Twins won't have Liriano or Radke. One would think they can't possibly be this hot. It's just such an embarassment how they've kicked our ass all over the place.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) Whose quote was that. We need to make fun of him. It was on Cheat's blog.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) With our inability to get get any kind of consistency out of the rotation, and the Twins just man-handling us constantly, I'm starting to think this year is over. OMG!!! ARE YOU IN OR ARE YOU OUT!!!???
-
Our pitching is just painful to watch. You know, McCarthy really should have been traded for something that could help our team. If the manager has a staff with all pitchers with 4+ ERAs, and 3 of them have 5+ ERA post-ASB, and he's still refusing to start a pitcher who basically bailed the team out at this time last year, then what does that say about Ozzie's opinion on McCarthy?
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) Buehrle has a ton of value, trust me. If Buehrle was on the market right now, would you give up McCarthy for him? I don't think so.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) You're also cherry picking. Jose Contreras has been a dominant pitcher all his life in Cuba. He just keeps getting into some bad grooves here. When he followed the formula he was using in Cuba, he was dominating people. Jon Garland was a young pitcher who finally seemed to grow up and find a rhythm last year, something that does happen sometimes. Mark Buehrle is just having a terrible season. Yes, I'm cherry picking the positives, but I think on all 3 of them, the positives strongly outweigh the negatives. I agree with you about Contreras and Garland. I think they'll be solid next year. But Buehrle? He has to perform at the end of the year for me to confident he can be good again next year. I don't believe anyone can assume he'll automatically return to his pre-2006 form next season.
