  1. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) I think you are probably right. I am hoping he is right.
  2. I'm sure Konerko thought he had a real good game for himself. Afterall, nothing beats the solo dong.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Maybe it's because they've been equally as bad this year except Garcia appears to be toast with his unexplained drop in velocity. And who is everyone? Seems like there's an awful lot more people calling for Vazquez' head lately than Garcia. They're both equally bad. Vazquez has more "potential" because he still has decent stuff, so it's more likely that someone takes a chance on him and offers a better package than for a 30-year old version of the 42-year old version of Greg Maddux.
  4. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) cleveland might come back and we could rally against nathan. I'm calling my bookie. Cleveland has looked like they're mailing it in for the last few weeks. They'll knock us around a couple of times, though.
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) So every team in the AL that matters will win tonight. Hooray. Well, Boston might still lose.
  6. It's pretty funny how so many said the Tigers would fade and the opposite has happened. 3-10 against these good AL teams. That's not really a slump anymore, it's indicative of the team's true quality. KW needs to work his magic, get Vazquez off the team, or at least send a memo to Ozzie to pull him after 5/6 innings.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) Only problem is Bmac wouldn't be ready to start until September; late August at the earliest. It does not take a pitcher a month to get stretched out. 3/4 starts at the most.
  8. Somebody please tell me there's a chance Ozzie comes to his senses and switches Vazquez and McCarthy in the rotation. Vazquez has good stuff, he can be a dominating type set up guy in the Kelvim Escobar mold. Yeah, we're paying him a lot of money, but whatever...
  9. Maybe we should walk Punto to set up the DP? He's hitting .397 in July.
  10. 3 ER through 6 IP is still an OK outing. He's very good around the first 2 times. Maybe he's just a 6 inning pitcher. Of course this is two times in a row with Javy where I've gotten home to turn on the TV only to witness Javy give up a 2-0 lead right away.
  11. If what fathom says in true, then we could pretty much end all speculation about flipping Soriano somwhere else... unless the Sox are also interested in selling a bunch of merchendise in the next few days.
  12. If a NTC is the only thing holding up this deal, then I would imagine it would still get done at some point.
  13. It would be an OK deal, imo. I don't think we have plans to clear a rotation spot for McCarthy this season unless some sort of injury happens to the other five. With that said, if McCarthy remains the 3rd or 4th guy out of the bullpen, then Soriano, as an everyday player, would help us more for the rest of the year.
  14. If we did sign Soriano long-term, would people think that was worth giving up McCarthy? I'm torn. Soriano is a great player (and we could technically slide him over to 2B after this season and not pick up Iguchi's option; a LF is always easier to find than a 2B) but McCarthy might be our 3rd or 4th best starter now, and perhaps our best 2 years from now.
  15. If McCarthy's involved, it might give us a hint that Ozzie was never a big fan of Brandon for one reason or another. McCarthy should have been starting instead of Duque as early as August of last season. He's also better than Garcia and Vazquez this year.
  16. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 01:09 AM) There's no way I would trade Crede for Arod. I mean, Crede is younger, better defensively, way better in the clutch, and would cost us about 15 mil/yr. less. So, basically, all Arod has on Crede are basic offensive #s. I think I'll take Joe. A-Rod plays the more premium position. He's also only 2 years older. Crede's having a career season at a time where he's likely to sign a contract extension (meaning, the right time to have a career season). And saying A-Rod's only advantage over Crede is basic offensive numbers is sort of like saying Jim Thome's only advantage over Scott Spiezio is basic offensive numbers.
  17. Did that joke just go over everybody's heads?
  18. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) No way. I don't want to trade this team's future for someone who's just gonna be 5- or 6-year rental.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 12:34 AM) Garcia is exactly the type of pitcher that the Yankees could use right now. So Crede, Garcia, Broadway, and Sweeny to New York for A-Rod?
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) We've played about as bad as possible, against the toughest stretch of our schedule, and we still have a 2.5 lead in the Wild Card. We could be in a hell of a lot worse position than we are right now. It's a rapidly declining lead in the Wild Card. The arrow is pointing down and not up. I'm not seeing a reason to expect much better pitching from 2/5 of our rotation, and I see our offense slowing down from what it was in the first half. Why can't I comment on these issues?
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) Relax and enjoy the win. YEAH!!!!!!! HIGH FIVE!!!!!!!! WOO-HOO!!! We just won the Series!!!
  22. I was too stressed out after our last few games to watch more than an inning of this one. A good win but let's remember all it does is put us at 3-9 for our last 12, which is still horrible. This team needs some help to truly compete with the best in the AL. This is the first time in 5 days where I don't have the urge to break things. It's a good feeling.
  23. Twins and Tigers both have comfortable leads right now, so we better win this thing.
