  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) Keep the faith guys. Last night should have taught you that. For me it's not so much that I don't think we'll win this game, but it's so frustrating watching Jose pitch his ass off only to continually be f***ed by the rest of the team. He should have won his last 4 ND's.
  2. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) He's still a gold glover. Is that you, Hawk?
  3. It's difficult to assess which teams are out of the race at this point. Also, bad teams usually have only young & cheap relievers meaning they wouldn't be trading them anyway. I looked at the rosters and found some likely candidates to be moved (your excitement level may vary): Guardado (SEA), Latroy Hawkins (BAL), Roberto Hernandez (PIT). I think I would take Hawkins provided you don't ask him to be your closer. He's not very likable, we all know that. Having a pretty decent season (3.67 ERA, 1.26 WHIP).
  4. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) Even though Konerko and Thome bombed there, no way I blame them. Coming out of bases loaded, 1 out without a run is inexcusable with your 3-4 hitters at the plate.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) The good news today? BMac has 6 up, 6 down. He walked a guy last inning but he has looked good.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) Yet somehow, people still think Anderson should be in the majors. He should be for a team who's other CF options are Rob Mackowiak and Pablo Ozuna. If we had a real CF on the team I'd agree with you.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) Pathetic. I really hope that's his last AB with the Sox for a long time. Ozuna should have been hitting there. And what happens after that?
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) I remember that. He definitely was available. He's not anymore I don't think it was Rios. I thought it was Wells they were trying to trade.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) Over the long haul, the BP is going to be much more important. We don't have the automatic out in CF tonight, yet the White Sox offense has a goose egg, and Garcia has 2 more earned runs against him than he would have if the automatic out was in tonight's game. Yeah, point is we don't have a real major league CF on the roster. We're either going with god awful defense or god awful hitting from that spot. Pick your poison. As far as bullpen, I think McCarthy will get his s*** together at some point. So with McCarthy-Thornton-Cotts-Jenks I think we have enough there. We could make a minor move for someone for the 6th or 7th inning later in the year.
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) I didn't get to watch, but it sounded more like MB's continued inability to pitch over mistakes was the problem. That was a part of it, yes. However, the bullpen was clearly not at fault for yesterday's loss.
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) Who cares about another CF. Lets get some bullpen help. Bullpen help wasn't the problem yesterday. The two automatic outs at the end of the lineup were.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) OK, then why would Minnesota trade away one of it's few faces of the franchise to their arch rival? Because maybe they don't plan on signing him at the end of the season.
  13. Pirates gave the Cubs the division in 2003. They're in the same division. But yeah, trades within the division never happen.
  14. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) You never trade with anyone within your own division....the last thing I want to see is Lance Broadway shutting the White Sox out 3 years down the road. That's a strange thing to worry about now. The last thing I want to see is a .160 CF or another guy who has trouble not tripping over his feet out there. Maybe that's just me.
  15. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) You don't trade within the division. But why? I've just given legit reasons to counteract that cliche. They'll lose him anyway at the end of the year. Why not get something for him... and if it's the Sox that offer the best package, then so be it.
  16. I'm trying to figure out why Minnesota wouldn't trade Hunter to the White Sox. The guy's a free agent at the end of the year anyway. If the Sox want him, they can sign him at that point.
  17. DickAllen's post was not split off for some reason but I wanted to respond: I hope that's not what KW's thinking. We probably have the worst CF situation in the AL, so it would be foolish to hold out for only "great" players when even average ones would suffice. With that said, I don't want anything to do with Pierre or Erstad, but Finley is worth following for the next couple of months.
  18. Finley's having an OK season for a 41 year old man: .265/.344/.434. I'd take that from my #9 hitter.
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 27, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) I wonder if KW could get Carl Crawford. I think he could play CF. It would cost a ton, but would be worth it. I actually don't think the Sox need another CF, but a guy on the bench who hits right handed would be nice, and some bullpen help. So who's the starting CF? Anderson can't hit and Mackowiak can't field. I'd stick with Anderson though and hope he gets out of his funk. There's really no use in playing Mackowiak because we already know he's not a viable CF option.
  20. Mack isn't good enough defensively to be a starting CF, but Anderson shouldn't be a full-time starter either if he can't hit above .200. I would give Anderson another month to get his s*** together because he's the only viable starting CF on the roster. If he's still sucking by this time next month, it's time to get someone from outside the ORG. KenGriffeyJrTalk.com anyone?
  21. I'm not going to get too excited about this game one way or the other, I'm just sad for Jose. By the way, gameday shows Contreras with 4 ER but shouldn't that really be 3? Todd Walker's run should be charged to Neal Cotts because he's the one that let him on base, right?
  22. QUOTE(peanut33tillman @ May 15, 2006 -> 05:45 PM) I dont get this...why would the Twins an inner-division rival, trade one of their top players to a team in their own divison, and to the same team that perhaps poses the biggest threat to win the AL Central?? I just dont get threads like this.... I think this is overplayed. The Pirates had no problem giving the Cubs Lofton/Ramirez a couple of years ago. Hunter will go to the team offering the best package, regardless of division.
  23. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Would an MRI reveal a bulging disc? I've read several stories on Contreras this morning with no mention of a bulging disc. You would think it would be reported somewhere if that really was the case...
