  1. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) Poor poor Jon. He only had 86 pitches and could have gone 1 more inning. Now he gets nothing because Ozzie is a turd and took him out. I don't mind Ozzie taking Garland out there. All year long I thought he's been overworking the starters, or at least pulling them too late. If our top set up guys can't hold a 3-run lead against the Royals, then we probably don't deserve the win.
  2. The KC official scorer must really hate our pitchers.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) So you don't think your 3 hitter should hit 30 Hrs, drive in 100, and hit in the clutch? Ok. I think a #3 hitter should hit for .300/30/100. There's plenty of #6 hitters that can hit for 30 HRs and drive in 100.
  4. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) I think his less than regular playing time has an effect on all of his numbers. Before Thomas came back, Carl was having a pretty good year. Thomas came back at the beginning of June IIRC. June was Carl's best month.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) Yeah silly me, I forgot OPS wins games, not runs, sorry about that. Carl's avg. with RISP (.299) is good, I agree. But there's more to being a good #3 hitter (and a good hitter in general) than how you perform in those situations. My point is that he's a #6 hitter.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) how many #6 hitters could hit for 30 Hrs and 100 Rbi, cause that;s were Carl was going before they benched him for Frank. Carl has a .759 OPS. How many teams in baseball have a #3 hitter with a lower OPS? I would venture to say none.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) He thinks the same about you as a poster. Carl is a proven idiot, so that wouldn't bother me too much.
  8. As an aside to the ump debate, I would just like to say that Carl f***ing sucks and that's pretty much all there is to it. He's a #6 hitter in a decent lineup.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) Another potential darkhorse in the Burnett derby is Atlanta, they just put Mike Hampton on the DL. I don't think Florida will be helping out the Braves.
  10. With there being such a high number of great players from the Dominican Republic (Tejada, Ortiz, Vlad, Sammy, etc.) you would think it would be impossible to have such a rag-ass crew of Dominicans on one team (Timo, Urine, Ozuna, Vizcaino, Marte). Edit: My only hope is that if they get rid of one (i.e. Uribe) they won't be so hesitant to get rid of the others. We need a domino effect here...
  11. The best pitcher on the best team in baseball against the worst pitcher on the worst team in baseball, and we're getting beat 7-1. f*** you, Ozzie.
  12. Dear Mark, Sorry to hear your chances for winning the Cy Young just went down the toilet. Sincerly, Ozzie, Willie, and the Dominicans
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) HE HAS NO BASEBALL INSTINCTS! Yeah, none. He has some individual "skillz" but can never translate those to anything useful on a baseball field.
  14. No one has been more f***ed over by his teammates and manager than Buehrle.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) They showed that Giants scout whatever his name is and Hawk talked about him a bit. Then talking about how's he's been around scouting the sox and some of the minor league teams. He was saying that guy was there just in case "that rumor" would gain steam. I don't know, just seemed odd. EDIT: Sorry about not knowing the guys name, slipped my mind. Ned Coletti?
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Are we still gonna complain about the offense today? Nope, they're doing great. Just saying I don't like Rowand in the 2 spot because he's not a great situational hitter. That's a fair comment, don't you think?
  17. Good thing we had Rowand in that no. 2 spot, he's so great at situational hitting.
  18. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) :headshake Yeah, how dare I question our best clutch hitter?
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) Only 2 cf's are better than Rowand. Andruw Jones and Torri Hunter. You can make a case for Edmonds and Kotsay being on the same page as Rowand. Aside from that, there aren't any that are better than Rowand. Vernon Wells? Beltran?
  20. Why would you walk someone when David Ortiz is the next hitter?
  21. Can somebody tell me what just happened? Top 5TH B:3 S:2 O:1 Johnny Damon grounds out, pitcher Jose Contreras to second baseman Tadahito Iguchi to first baseman Ross Gload.
  22. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Count just needs to keep that pitch count down. Its already at 58. Hope he doesnt waste allot pitches. More like 80.
  23. When I see Gload hit like that I just want to punch Ozzie in the nuts because you know he still believes that Timo is more important to the team.
