  1. I agree completely. The Twins are not going to catch the Sox. If the Sox go .500 the rest of the way, the Twins would have to go 44-14 to tie. Without Tori Hunter, the Twins might not break even the rest of the way. The one thing I dread most is facing Oakland in the first round. Anything to keep Oakland out of the wild card is fine by me. If the A's don't falter, it would be best if they took first from Anaheim.
  2. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) He said that against .500-plus teams, the sox were only something like 29-28 Total bull. The best way to gauge teams by strength of schedule is RPI. The Sox are #1. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/rpi The White Sox SOS is .500 The Red Sox is .504
  3. That was the first run given up by Cliff in 21 appearances.
  4. The Twins are going to make a run for what? Beer?
  5. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) And people say those games early in the season don't mean anything. What cracks me up are the Twins fans I read at the CBS forums. They're still dreaming. They're predicting the Sox will choke, just like they have been since April. They've resorted to comparing this team to the last two, where there is no comparison. One idiot mentioned Loaiza - why, I don't know. Another moron was so clever. He wrote White Sux. How original! It must suck being a Twins fan, but I have no sympathy.
  6. If the Sox play .500 the rest of the way, the Twins will have to go 51-28 just to catch us. Neither looks likely. You can extrapolate from this to see that the Sox would have to suffer a total breakdown to lose the division. For example, if the Sox go only 9 games above .500 for the remaining games, the Twins would have to go 60-19 just to tie us. Virtually impossible.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) And here it is ON SOXTALK and the same thing is happening.. Please.. call a spade a spade. There are b****ers, whiners, and jerkoffs on BOTH sites. I agree Steff, but from my short lived experience at WSI, there's no comparison between that place and here.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) I'm not that mad about PK saying s*** but wtf good can come with it? It's just an opinion. He's not saying it for your benefit. The man is entitled to his opinions whether you agree with them or not. Without any direct knowlege of the impact of his statements, you cannot presume anything to be good or bad. If we had a way to verify that information, I'd bet you a month's salary that PK's press conferences have zero effect on the team. I'd take that bet in a heartbeat.
  9. PK could fart loudly, and WSI would be all over him. That place is soap opera central. Drama queen city. I don't see how anything can even be read into those words. There's nothing derogatory at all. There's also this little thing called freedom of speech. PK can say whatever he wants, and if it ever gets to the point I lose sleep over it, I'll stop reading the papers and listening to interviews. As far as clubhouse leader goes, I'll leave that decision to the players.
  10. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) We can only hope that is the case, but I guess it will come at the cost of beginning the Bobby Jenks experiment. I REALLY hope this guy has his head squarely on his shoulders, for this is a big time situation he will be stepping into IF he is the one called up. McCarthy down. Jenks up. Heard on the post game show.
  11. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) The sox are so good they are almost boring at this point, if you know what i mean. After last night, a boring game is just what the doctor ordered.
  12. With the Angels giving up 18 runs today (last I checked), it's safe to say the Sox pitching staff leads baseball in ERA again.
  13. Sox win! Bastard lil f***ing s*** bastard bastards bird s*** bastard s***s lose.
  14. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) Dmitri Young, who is actually hitless against us on the season. That's hilarious. He's not only a smartass, but a worthless piece of s*** as well.
  15. Wasn't it some smartass from the Tigers that said Detroit and Cleveland were the only competition in the Central? I wonder what he has to say now. (If he was talking about competing for 3rd place, I guess he was right.)
  16. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) I said getting no hit through 4 innings is bad, and it is. It's actually somewhat common.
  17. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) f*** that, that song's awesome. Everything else by Journey sucks balls, though. The three albums pre- Steven Perry are quite good.
  18. Rooney: The Sox are only the fifth team to record three eight game winning streaks.
  19. I don't know if it was Contreras slooooooooow pace or what, but I fell asleep for a four hour nap after the game. Weird dream. I was working as a waiter at one of the casinos here in Reno (which I did in my younger days), and there were several letters hanging in the kitchen from tourists from Chicago. They all mentioned the "debacle on 35th St." Strange, strange, strange. I woke up thinking about the Sox, and quickly checked on the Minnesota score. Way to go Brewers. Still a 10.5 game lead. All is well.
  20. Just out of curiosity, what company owns 670?
  21. QUOTE(FLsouthsider @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) Mariotti is a gifted writer? Since when? He must have a horribly aligned spine with all the time he spends twisting in the wind. Mariotti is a blowhard, nothing more, nothing less. I was waiting for someone to say it. Mariotti's rhetoric is so flowery, it makes him look like a pansy.
  22. QUOTE(FLsouthsider @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) That's the beauty of having a balanced lineup. We have a wealth of guys that can do damage. If I had to single one guy out, I might argue Aaron Rowand or Carl Everett. I know, I'm crazy, but it just seems like these two come up with big hits all the time. But if that's the criteria, you could put together some good arguments for Iguchi and Pierzynski, too. Yeah, I agree an Carl and ARow. I don't remember the exact numbers, but Farmer said they both have something like 15 RBIs in their last 15 games.
  23. I'd give that distinction to the team. The Sox attack has been very balanced this month.
