Im rather high on Overbay and Huff is a good 2nd half player. I'd choose Overbay because he has a decent amount of HRs and is a doubles hitter which fits our team. I think Huff is having a down year and maybe 7.5 mil. is too much of a chance. Baez would be dependable if Hermanson was to miss some time on the DL. No telling what Lamarr would be asking for. No new progress with Burnet tso i dont know the situation over there.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) More importantly, could someone post their ridiculously different contracts...Adding Overbay while saying good bye to Konerko would not only be an upgrade at 1B and a LH bat in the lineup, but free up..ooo..~8 million. What I would do for Lyle Overbay... very true. It'd be hard to dump Konerko's salary right now. We'd have to wait until the end of the season.

I have a feeling KW is flying under the radar and he will get someone we have not mentioned on this board for less price than Burnett.
-
The problem is we'd had to let go of Everett and Konerko. I dont think KW and Ozzie want these two on the bench that much.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) You know... as much as I like that DJ .gif that I made for our emoticons here. It's pretty tedious seeing it in someone's signature for every one of their posts. Yeah people tol me that. Ivb been meaning to get rid of it. Sorry everyone, for the annoyance.

You are right. Pods does have a weak arm ans his defense isnt great. I'd cmopare it to Everett's D. But wouldnt it look good to have Huff in left and Pods in DH. I think ill drink on it.
-
Huff has been know to be sub-par in the first half but really turns it up in the second half. I personally think Huff would fit better in this ball club and his numbers would be better as well.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) The only problem with that is he's never had a season of 30/100. He had one season of 22 HRs and 99 RBI but other than that he's never hit more than 15 HRs in a season and has never had more than 72 RBI. I would call him more of a 20/85 or 20/90 guy, not 30/100. Yeah i see you point, Kalapse. Its the analysts that say he will one day be a 30/100 guy and i gotta say i believe them.

So, is AJ coming to the White Sox?

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) Exactly why I don't get why he wouldn't want to come here. Chicago is a dream city(according to some magazine). He just wants the most money. I don't see him signing an extension with anyone until after the season. He wants to milk the market. In that case, I say f*** him. With the way Contreras and Duque pitched lately, i gotta agree. If he wants the money so badly he can join his buddy Pavano in NY. BUT i'd still like to have him here. BTW has anyone mentioned Odalis Perez or Jeff Weaver and are they available? -
QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) and the best of the bunhc, teixeira Yeah they got some good hitters in Teixeira, Soriano, Young, and Blalock. I got Young and Blalock on my fantasy team and they are great.
-
This is the series where the Sox bats can really come alive. Its downhill from here. Lima tomarrow and Hernandez on Wednesday. I dont see how this team cant score 6+.
-
Michael Young is a 30/100 player. He is the real deal along with Hank Blalock.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:12 PM) Redmond? The catcher...? Or do you mean Mark Redman, the pitcher? Mark Redman the pitcher. I read that the Marlins want to get rid of Lowell and Burnett and then they would make a deal for Redman. -
QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) A possible lineup that is solid 1-9: Pods LF Iguchi 2B Everett DH Konerko 1B Dye RF Pierzynski C Rowand CF Lowell 3B Vizquel SS Bench: Ozuna, Harris (for speed), Gload, Widger, Perez. A possible rotation: Buehrle Garcia Garland Burnett El Duque Bullpen: Wagner, Politte, Cotts, Hermanson, Jenks, Bajenaru If you add a 90% Frank Thomas in mid-September through the postseason, this team could match up with anyone. With Lowell/Vizquel instead of Crede/Uribe we would have changed the left side of the infield, but we would have veteran presence and solid defense. Plus WS experience and a lot fewer outs. It is this last point that sells me. Without Thomas our lineup would have no superstars. But is also would have no weak links. That would be one hell of a lineup and pitching
-
Its good to see Dye is back in the starting lineup.

If only the NL West didnt suck so much, they'd be more players to get.

He looked tired, was not enthusiastic to be interviewed, and it looked to me like he was about to burst into tears. He kept his head down when he was talking. This guy is as fun to watch running the bases as watching his interview.
-
My opinion is to keep him on the DL until he can prove he is 100% and when he is use him in limited time the rest of the season. We can use him more in the postseason and the after the season if over buyout his contract. We cant put up with this every year. The money can be used elsewhere.

The Astros are not trading Pettitte or anybody for that matter on their major league roster. They are not sellers. If anything, they will be sellers and they have been one of the hottest teams in baseball last month and they dont need much upgrades. Their hitting is coming alive and their pitching has always been there. They got the best chance to win the NL Wild Card and they will win the wild card.
-
I voted Baltimore. They are struggling to score and they dont have good pitching. I was gunna say the Yankees because of their horrendous pitching but they got all that playoff experience

The AJ Burnett 24 Hour Window Thread
Ozzie Montana replied to AddisonStSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The update guy on AM1000 said the Sox and Marlins are trying to negotiate the final 2yrs. in Lowell's contract where he is owed 18 mil Now we know how much he is owed. I hope the Marlins pay atleast 10-12 mil -
