  1. It also interesting that a guy who is leading the league in home runs has no votes. Shows how deep the Sox have been this year.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 04:19 PM) I may have voted Quintana if that was an option. Losing Danks and replacing him with some AA pitcher another team left unprotected, putting on a mid-2's ERA... that right there is the difference between being in first by 3.5, and being muddled with the Tigers and Indians. See so many guys you can make a case for that I forgot one...
  3. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) Ventura I thought about putting Ventura on there but decided against it. I was just looking at the stats on the White Sox website and thought that a case could be made for a lot of guys so far. Who would have thought a month and a half ago that Rios would only be 1 point behind Konerko in average?
  4. Who is the White Sox MVP up to this point?

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 01:48 PM) His character changed when Gus threatened his family. I am kind of getting tired of how they always seem to run into a new kind of trouble. The Ted thing is kind of unnecessary. Right, because a drama show where the lead character don't run into trouble would be great to watch!
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 11:31 AM) Just ask here: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...0&start=800 Some of us find the bantering entertaining. Well I did too for quite a while actually. But it has turned into ESPN here, where there is a lot to talk about, but everyone keeps talking about about the same thing over and over again making the same points. Tebow, Yankees, Tebow, Red Sox, Tebow, Yankees, Lebron, Lebron, Lebron.
  7. Can we just change the name of this thread to "Everyone argues with greg about whether or not Ozzie sucks" and then start a new Miami Marlins thread? I would like to be able to ask if anyone is going to see MB pitch on Thursday at Wrigley, but I'm not going to because the answers will be too hard to find between "Ozzie sucks" "Ozzie sucks" "No he doesn't" "Yes he does" "Yes he does" etc etc etc.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) He was the manager for 8 seasons, and in 4 of those, his winning percentage was .512 or worse, including 3/4 being under .500. Yeah, what a winner that bag of s*** was. So he had a winning record in 5/8 seasons he was here. Your kind of proving greg's point on the winning culture part....
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) NO I can't stand his: back back back back back back back gone, absolutely can't stand that guy, let him stick to football. This times a million
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,2027915.story NFL to delay late game kickoffs.............I like it from a fans standpoint on doubleheader games. Its about time they did this...

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 12:48 PM) What an awful start to True Blood. Only decent storyline is Tara and they have it on for like 2 minutes. Still too many characters. Looking forward to The Newsroom premiere next week. I dont think it has been awful but they are going between too many stories. They need to cut it down a little bit.
  12. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) There really isn't a good one in that list IMO, and he wasn't in all of those (at least not as a main character). The only one he was the lead in that was decent was 50 First Dates, and that was him being a normal goof, not some over the top weirdo. Mr Deeds and Anger Management were both pretty good
  13. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:02 PM) Does anyone think the Sox-Cubs series a week from today will sell out? I'm predicting 33K for each game, and I think that's being generous. The Cubs are awful and there will be a huge lack of interest for Cubs fans to go. I wish they would have made it a weekend series, as it would probably sell out then.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 09:13 PM) And then the "micro" considerations, like how many ushers are going to have to staff all those seats to keep the people who are paying for the cheapest tickets from moving to another seating area, for example... For me, it's crazy to think of the benefit of a $5 ticket when I know the parking that goes along with that will be 2X-8X more expensive than the ticket. That might be a primary reason NOT to come, psychologically. When you line all the numbers up, we're still destroying most of those teams like the Reds and Royals in overall revenues because of our average/frontline ticket prices being so much higher than all the teams 16-30 in attendance (the Mets would be the only other team with comparable prices). But they don't really do that anyway in the UD. I buy deals like these all the time when they have them and just move to UD seats behind home plate. I am never questioned. Still can't get downstairs, but staffing those entrances would be relatively consistent regardless of how well the UD sells. I am also upset at the price of bleacher seats this year. I used to sit in the bleacher a lot, but prices have gotten outrageous.
  15. QUOTE (SmashROT @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 11:19 AM) My immediate reaction to this was unnerving. I spent $13 a ticket for seats for Tuesdays game with my 7-game plan. I'm not entitled to the discount because I supported a team with a partial season package pre-season? That's $16 difference for 2 seats. The $5 seats are only the ones in the corner of the upper deck basically (I checked on Ticketmaster). So if you are sitting anywhere besides there, the seats probably cost more...
  16. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 12:02 PM) But what is the focus...the umpire or Harrelson's outburst? How come this is the first outburst that has become national attention? Hawk has had several similar rants on umpires in the past few years.
  17. Has any other broadcaster created this much controversy and division between the teams fans?
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2012 -> 09:36 AM) MLB Audio is $20 for the season, and it might be pro-rated cheaper by now. I have had it for years, and I love it for exactly that. I think those games are blacked out here on mlb audio...
  19. So I'm at work and would like to listen to the game at my desk. Is there way to stream it that is free or inexpensive? I noticed the Score does not stream the games online.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 29, 2012 -> 08:17 PM) Anybody watch the Hatfields & McCoys miniseries? Got it recording on the DVR, but it's kind of long, so not sure if I should start watching it. I've seen both days so far and think its badass. I like stuff from that era though. Great miniseries imo, especially for some off the History Channel (they seem to have cool specials sometimes, but nothing like network movies or miniseries)
  21. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 28, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) Problem is he was in it when he did it. Suicide bomber. Never made sense, they showed that last year too. Not sure if you knew this or not, but Hawk is invincible
  22. I will miss Hawk when he is gone. White Sox baseball just won't be the same. I can catch a bland and neutral telecast watching just about any other game, but there is only one Hawk sitting there rooting Konerko's long line drive to stretch or yelling "He gone!" when the opposing batter chases a pitch in the dirt. Sure the catch phrases get old, but Hawk's attitude and spirit don't. Hawk watches the game rooting for a White Sox win and makes it known just like me and I like that.
  23. I think there has been too many posts in a row not talking about Kate Upton. She's hot
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 10:18 PM) 20,266 for a game against the BOSTON RED SOX? Brooks Boyer has to be thanking his lucky stars it wasn't in the high teens or it would SEEM even worse. Still a bit of a surprising number. What will be the reason this time, the NFL draft? Premium/dynamic pricing? The Bulls are playing? The Red Sox fans are aggravated with Valentine and John Henry? Bad weather? School's still in session. The way we lost the game yesterday afternoon has demoralized fans? After the way Boston played earlier this week in Minnesota, you'd have thought they would get a few of their casual/bandwagon fans back again...and Humber was coming off a perfect game and it was his first home appearance after that. I was there and freezing my ass off. Games just aren't as fun when it is cold. If the Sox stay competitive attendance will pick up and be normal. No better or worse

QUOTE (juddling @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 06:24 AM) Watching the Justified season ender i couldn't help but chuckle as i thought to myself "Mr. Quarles can't catch a break....first he's got Marshall Givins on his case...and then he goes and kidnaps Vic Mackey's old lady. haha" Haha too bad Mackey is at a desk job now.
