  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) $7 tickets for upper deck at the gate. You will be able to walk down low and sit where you want. Don't they check tix at some of the weekend games?
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 07:20 AM) Really liked the first episode of Stranger Things. the 80s sci-fi/fiction/horror aesthetic is very strong Yeah I checked it out based on good reviews. Going to keep watching, definitely an entertaining throwback so far.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) Oh man, GJ in the debates will be a riot. He was squirming when my editor interviewed him. I'd love to see how he reacts on the national stage. I have a buddy that has been pumping Johnson and the Libertarian party for months. He was pretty excited for a chance to break through with two unlikeable candidates running. After the Town Hall with Johnson on CNN, he is now voting for Trump. He must be really awful at public speaking, which makes me wonder how he became the nominee? My friend is still a Libertarian, but couldn't vote for Johnson after that I guess.
  4. CEO: "We will require a college degree for just about every job in this company" College" " Sure come earn a degree with us. Just don't forget to take out 80k in loans first so you can afford it!" Student: "Sweet I just graduated, time to get that job!" Recruiter: "Well you don't have your Masters, so you will need that for any type of really good position, but we do have a couple things in sales and admin that require a bachelors. Will get you about 30k your first few years out of school" Student: "well that's disappointing, I'm going to have to live at home for awhile until I can either move up or move on to get a Masters degree" Parents: "Back in my day we were kicked out when we were 18 and had to go to work! You damn millennials! So entitled! Fine I guess you can stay here until you get you s*** together" So it is the baby boomers that let the price of college go through the roof, started requiring a college degree from almost every job, and forced kids to take out tons of money to get that education and often accept low paying jobs (considering having a college degree, debt, etc) in an over-saturated job market where everyone has a degree now because they basically have to get one to work anywhere. Too bad we are like you were "back in the day." Hopefully we make better decisions for our kids' futures.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) I won once. I got the little Altoids tin signed by Stone Haha, I was thinking that's what I would choose
  6. Anyone on here ever play or win Sox Math?
  7. Here is something else Hawk used to say every time we played Seattle: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/news/barry-bon...-183231843.html
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) Why? Does Bossard someone to mow the grass? No, to catch for Buehrle when he returns to replace Rodon for the rest of the season.
  9. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) Considering Avila's injury history, they should have had one of those AAAA guys or grizzled veterans who have played for 1/2 the league stashed away in Charlotte. maybe they do. They actually had that one guy, but released him to "clear room" on the 40. but the 40 contained such luminaries as Scott Carroll et al. AJ will be in town this weekend, maybe he could stick around
  10. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) It feels that way, but those ESPN GSW games are going to break all kinds of records No doubt, I'm just personally over it as a fan. GSW can keep building up, and Lebron can keep playing in the East where he can take the last 15 games of the year off and cruise to the finals. Then the fun debates continue about whether Golden State is the best team of all time and whether Lebron is the GOAT.
  11. The NBA is so lame now. Two all star teams and then everyone else, and all because players are purposely building them up for rings. I'm not hating on Durant for joining the Warriors or Lebron for starting this Superstar team-building idea. It just makes the NBA so blah...
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 04:58 PM) I liked Lucy until that awful off the wall ending. Ruined everything. I was just about to say the same...
  13. He is tied for 2nd in the AL in home runs and has 49 RBI's. Are we really complaining about this? He is on pace for over 40 HR's and over 100 RBI's. I think we have bigger problems than Todd... Oh yeah and he also plays a pretty good 3b.
  14. So how do we feel about this team if Shield pitches well (2-3 ER in 6IP) and we sweep the Bo-Sox?
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) Who you crappin'? What head coach is going to successfully get them to buy into his vision? Phil Jackson? It's certainly not going to be Fred Hoiberg after last season. Hoiberg could just be a suit while the player run the show, just like what's his name was in Miami with Lebron and Wade.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) I think most Bulls fans don't like him for the same reason. Originally yes, but I've come to hate him more as a whiner and flopper. I know a ton of guys flop but it is not befitting of a player that is supposed to be considered the greatest IMO. I'm not over the decision either though, not because he didn't come to the Bulls, but he left to play with his chosen "All Star" team to guarantee some championships. With that said, I though he was funny in Trainwreck with Amy Schumer. But Go Warriors.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ May 31, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) I liked Ex Machina so much I've been afraid to watch it again. If that makes sense. Haha it does. I watched it on a flight, so I may eventually check it out again on the home tv.
  18. Recently saw Ex-Machina and thought it was great. Also, rented Room. Started out really strong and kind of fizzled, but still thought it was worthwhile.
  19. QUOTE (Tex @ May 20, 2016 -> 03:15 PM) Anything in South Congress if you are just looking for an area. But for a specific destination go to Mean Eyed Cat A Johnny Cash theme place. Lots of locals. Craft cocktails and beer. Good food. Usually solid bands. You will want to order the brisket. Thanks for the tip! Looks cool!
  20. QUOTE (Tex @ May 20, 2016 -> 12:29 PM) All in one or do you want to eat in one place and then head out? Quirky fun, high end class? Are you trying to impress? One place for now, and both quirky and fun work. Looking for good food and good music
  21. So I am going to Austin for work next week and looking to find a restaurant with some good food and live music. Anyone have any suggestions here? Will be me, my boss, and a coworker.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 2h2 hours ago Typo on LT. Carlos Rodon is 140th out of 149 in run support per game. Also, on list -- John Danks was 146th of 149 at 1.8 runs per. Carlos is the new Quintana! Just not as good yet.
  23. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 3, 2016 -> 11:40 PM) I don't understand why this is so hard to understand for folks. The Sox have played s***ty baseball for three straight years and six of the last nine. One month isn't going to immediately change that. Sox sold 100,000 tickets last week...if they keep winning the crowds will be there especially when the kids get out of school. Really it's not that hard to understand folks. Mark Exactly, the previous years resulted in very low season ticket sales as well as sales of those partial plans. It will pick back up if the performance stays anywhere near this.
