QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) I would assume a back-of-the-rotation guy. Like probably can be a #5 guy with potential to be a #4. Not an "exciting" prospect in my mind (mainly because he turns 26 by the end of the year, and was never a big-upside prospect) , but it's hard to deny the numbers he has put up. His dad actually posts here, so that's pretty cool as well. Thank you JCM24. That is what I was thinking too, given his age factor and where he's at development wise. Still, if he's a solid prospect (back of the rotation guy), that's fine with me.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 02:24 AM) Doyle went a CG, 7 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K. Last 3 starts..... 26 IP, 16 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 16 K, 1.03 ERA, 0.69W WHIP, 8 K:BB Wow. Is he projected as a back-of-the-rotation starter or as a reliever? Either way, the Sox look like they've uncovered a gem.

Every MLB Team's Prospect Most Likely to Become a Big-Time Bust
OilCan replied to LayelBurton's topic in FutureSox Board
Wow, this makes Hockey Future's "writeups" on teams' prospects look like ____. Words fail me. -
Did anyone catch the Danny Mac show around 10 today? The Charlotte radio announcer was on and was giving his thoughts about Viciedo (saying "he's ready). When asked who else is catching his eye, he mentioned De Aza, that his numbers have surpassed what he did all of last year, Danks' defense that he can go get anything, and Tyler Flowers' eye as far as OBP and his selective/working the count development. Good stuff. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/?podcast_url=h...mp;dcid=CBS.CHI - first part of the podcast.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 10:34 PM) I'll answer the 2nd question first: he's a bad skater and a bad hockey player, therefore, I don't even have the willingness to look up his contract status because if he is available, I want him nowhere near Chicago. Got it, thanks whitesoxbrian. I was looking at Georgie for his toughness, but if he can't skate/doesn't have a good hockey IQ, I'm with ya. Mike Rupp anyone??
-
*sigh* my man Nevin had his Wild Man thing going again. 5 BBs/3 hits allowed in 6 IP.
-
Someone with NHL knowledge should know this answer. Is George Laraque an UFA, and if so, is he a viable option for the Blackhawks? How's his skating?? Thanks.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie Regarding VAN radio report on Parise to Canucks: fantasy. Someone's over-active imagination. Don't believe they're even talking at this pt. 8 minutes ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® Favorite Retweet Reply

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) over what? Mauer called for four fastballs, the pitcher was like WTF and threw them, but one was down the middle and Prince Fielder got the GW RBI from it. The pitcher, paraphrasing, was complaining about the pitching calls from Mauer. Mauer's response was "well yeah I called for them but I didn't call for them right down the middle". Good stuff.

QUOTE (VAfan @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:01 PM) I would ask anyone who has posted here to name the replacement for Ozzie or KW that is currently available, and then explain why that person is better and would clearly improve the Sox. It's easy to say "blow it up." It's much harder to figure out how to put it together again. I'll bite on this. Good question VAfan. Good question. Hahn should be ready by now. From what I've read/heard on the radio, he's an educated baseball man who has already had documented results working with people from everywhere (i.e. negotiations with Boras clients). If not, I believe there are some alternatives from historically winning baseball teams (NYY, Boston) with great baseball minds who can come in and fix this. Here is an article, although a year old, that can shed some light: http://www.aolnews.com/2010/07/05/baseball...-gm-candidates/ One that struck me dead on: Here's another: Those are good places to start. As far as Managerial prospects. You can look at those who have had success: Bobby Valentine is one example. Or give someone a shot who is long overdue. Here's one: Linky: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=11334 Now, I could be totally wrong with these names. But, to change the culture of this franchise, which IMHO is needed, these are good places to start.

One of the callers on the Score said it for me, so succinctly: fire both those ***clowns, promote Hahn, and let him hire his own Mgr.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) For those who don't live in Chicago, the Chicago sports radio shows were all over the Pierre/Dunn vs Viciedo debate. I listened to the Score through my Android Phone today - quite the entertainment with on the 1pm show - Danny Mac? I forgot. Sorry. Anywhooo wanted to throw this out there.....and just state how Dayan is actually doing in AAA: 1st in the IL with 55 RBIs. 1st in the IL with 100 hits. 1st in the IL with ABs - 303. 4th in the IL with 24 doubles. Tied for 10th in the IL with 12 HRs - and June has been a slow HR month for him with only 3. 1st in the IL with 160 Total Bases. 22nd in the league with .369 OBP. 2nd in the IL with .528 Slugging Pct. 4th in the IL with a .330 BA 6th in the IL with a .897 OBP. And yet, we hear WHAT FROM OUR HIGHLY ESTEEMED GM ABOUT why we can't bring Dayan up? And yet, we hear WHAT FROM OUR WORLD CHAMPION MANAGER ABOUT why we can't pencil him in the lineup??? Suck my White Sox loyalty since 1973, since birth, since I was born at 26th and Wallace on that crisp, cool 10th of October night in Chicago. All In. PFFFFTT. PLEASE.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:09 PM) You should stop following Smith. I have already put my jinx on him, anointing him the class of the 2011 draft. Why thank you MaggsMaggs. In the "oh by the way" department - Dayan Viciedo leads all of the International League with 55 RBIs. That is all.
