  1. Given Brian Omogrosso's struggles at Charlotte, why is he even rated in the top 10?
  2. Add identity theft/lying about who they are to the list too. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...009/268483.html
  3. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 01:47 PM) Griffin to the Jazz?????? I like Taylor as a 2nd rounder....could turn out to be an overachiever. Good intangibles that he brings to any team.
  4. Good news on Bellamy. 75% close is better than 25% close.
  5. Fathom I agree. Having a Christopher Getz on your team is necessary, period. And he should be the #8 or 9, IMHO. Question.......does anyone know if Getz has an arm to handle 3b? I know that he won't have the batting power like an a-typical 3b, but just wondering.....and sorry if we're going off-topic since this thread is about Stefan.
  6. Is this the guy? http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/K/B...on-Kloess.shtml
  7. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) Let's keep in mind that Stefan's only in his 3rd full year in the minors. And most of that time in AA, including a week at the end of his first pro season in 2006. I can't hope but compare his stats with Magglio Ordonez when he was in the Sox org. Although Magglio was 2 years younger when he hit AA compared to Stefan when he hit AA, remember that Magglio was a UFA at an early age @ 18. But the numbers are pretty similar. Check out The Baseball Cube when you get a chance...
  8. Right on schedule to get to the big leagues. And no one is/has ever called him a viable replacement for Jermaine Dye. If he continues to mash, who knows? Check out his progress @ http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/G/S...-Gartrell.shtml With the exception of 2008, he has progressed a new level every year. I'm not saying that I've ever seen him in person. I've kept up with him based on stats alone, and the input on everyone from this and WSI. If you have seen him in person and can evaluate him on age alone, that's fine. But we would all be wise to listen and read someone's evaluation such as JPN...he has probably seen him in person.
  9. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) He's 25 AND IN DOUBLE A!! That's the very definition of too old. All things being equal, you need corner OF'ers in the AL, particularly at the Cell, who crush the baseball. Gartrell isn't one of those guys. Actually Marty, being 28 and in AA is the def. of old. Read: David Cook. The guy should be in AAA or in the ML, but that is a different story. Stefan hasn't struggled that much, if at all, since he's been drafted. Remember he was drafted @ 22 years old, and so the Sox can afford to take their time and develop this kind of a prospect. He's where he needs to be. If/When he goes to AAA this year, then he's still right on schedule. Personally, even if he reaches the ML @ 27, that's still OK.
  10. Carl Crawford Evan Longoria Albert Pujols Joe Mauer Ichiro Johan Santana Roy Halladay Josh Beckett Tim Lincecum Francisco Rodriguez I was torn between Ichiro and Justin Upton. In the end having three left handed bats with multiple skill sets won me over. I have 4 starters, one lefty, and my closer. It was either KRod or Jonathan "Shrek" Broxton.
  11. OILCAN IS DRAFT!!! No seriously. Good pick by the Pale Hose. I remember two years ago when they selected Aaron Poreda, that a lot of people were bashing the pick. Hmmmmm.....someone pull the tape!
  12. It is time to get serious around here. Welcome Gordon Beckham.
  13. Linky: http://www.minorleagueball.com/2009/6/2/89...clayton-richard
  14. That's a lot of fools gold then. Regardless, 12 hits is 12 hits. I'm not in Josh's corner by any means. But he had a heck of a stretch there. I dunno, tonight he's 0-4, 3Ks. To me, he seems like he's trying way too much at home. Consider, .258 BA on the road; .227 at home.
  15. I'm convinced that this Oswalt rumor got started here at Soxtalk. This and the Peavy thread really needs to be closed. They aren't going anywhere...at least at the South Side.
  16. Um.......Joeynach........Josh's swing in his last 10 games have given him 12 hits in the last 35 ABs, according to Yahoo Sports.Com. It may be ugly/girly/whatever....but it's working, with the exception of tonight. Who knows?????? If it ain't broke...
  17. Make it 3-3 for SLAYER!!! Hopefully half of Birmingham will be called up to join him very soon at AAA.
  18. May stats: 2 wins, 1 loss; 3.54 ERA, 28 IPs, 31 hits allowed, 9 BBs, 21 Ks. GP/AO = 1.10, opponents hit .287 off of him. 5 games pitched. Got to work on that WHIP average and BA average. Solid but unspectacular numbers...looking forward to June.
  19. After hitting .405 for the month of April, Christian so far is hitting .264 for May; BUT his last 10 is back to his pure bodaciousness: .389 BA, 14 for 36; 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Not bad!
  20. Or if his BA doesn't start to pick up. He's hitting only .238 in the last 10 games (hitting .284 during the month of May).
  21. Hell=to=the=yezz ChiSoxfn....If he's still around in rounds 4-8, I would definitely take him.
  22. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 28, 2009 -> 12:13 PM) Yeah, do all the player profiles you want. The more we get, the better. You got any video of Belt? I'd like to see his swing. Sorry about the late note....just got home....my job description at work just changed for the good! I'll see what I can find. I saw Brandon on TV vs. Stanford way, way earlier this year. Sweet outside-stanced swing. I've started to look through Google, YouTube, UT's multimedia...I'll keep looking but man, someone has to have video on this kid. There are some other UT ballplayers that I want to write up too, and other Big 12 players that are draft - eligible. Here's a good sign though...Belt was named to the Big 12 All-Tourney Team: (Crap, this was 2008!!! - I'll look for '09, jeez I'm tired...) 2008 PHILLIPS 66 BIG 12 BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM 1B Brandon Belt, Texas 2B Jake Opitz, Nebraska SS Drew Biery, Kansas State 3B Nate Tenbrink, Kansas State C Luis Flores, Oklahoma State OF Jacob Priday, Missouri OF Jordan Danks, Texas OF Russell Moldenhauer, Texas DH Rebel Ridling, Oklahoma State P Daniel Edwards, Kansas State P Andrew Doyle, Oklahoma MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER 1B Brandon Belt, Texas Linky: http://www.ncaa.com/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/071708aat.html I'll do a writeup tomorrow. I'm a little sleepy.........
  23. Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad... Roy-Os best days are behind him.
  24. Guys, and gals... I've said this player before as a possible guy the Sox could use... 1B Brandon Belt - Texas Currently leading the team with a .342 BA, 8 HRs and 37 RBIs. He was a good LHP coming out of high school but made the switch to the infield when his velocity dipped. Very sweet swing from the left side, closed stance. Here's a writeup about him from today's Austin American-Statesman: http://www.statesman.com/sports/content/sp...528texbase.html If someone will allow I can write a draft profile on him, I would be happy to do so and any other Longhorn player...
