  1. Stop the presses and the rumors of his demise...Josh Fields did NOT strike out!!!
  2. Darren Oliver is still in the majors?!?!?!?
  3. :lolhitting :lolhitting STOP WITH ALL THE PEAVY TALK!!! THIS IS ABOUT AS BAD AS ANOTHER BRETT FARVE HEADLINE!!!
  4. QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 22, 2009 -> 10:48 AM) With the Pirates coming to town and both teams not playing well, how important is it for the Sox to sweep? Sounds like a stupid question (and it probably is), but with the humiliating loss yesterday I would think a sweep and 5 of 6 home stand would be what the Sox really need. They could head out west (cringe) only 3 games below .500 and a head of steam. Granted a series win is a series win, so winning 2 out of 3 against Pittsburgh would be okay. The Sox, however, need every win they can get before going to the left coast. History tells us it could be ugly. Hogan, Good question, but IMHO, based on how the Sox have been playing, it is VERY IMPORTANT. They need as many wins as possible right now if they want to make a push for the playoffs.
  5. Nope. Kevin Towers is drinking margaritas in beautiful SD....
  6. Nice comeback for Clayton. 6IP, 8Ks although 3 BBs/4 Hits allowed...current ERA @ 3.55.
  7. Good enough for me then... Just have to solve the 3b problem now...
  8. Fathom, I hope you're right, but just like your tagline, Mr. Pessimism, I dunno... I could very well see SLAYER! go to SS and Lexi @ 2b. KW can still make a trade for a 3B if he feels that Tank will take a little longer to develop...
  9. Way to go Lex! Or....would Ozzie play Lexi at 3b, then SLAYER! at SS??? Or SLAYER! at second, Lexi at SS and ? at 3B.... More Shiner Bock please!!!
  10. Does Josh Fields have any more AAA options left??? And if he goes, who would Ozzie replace him....oh wait, SLAYER. Nevermind...
  11. And the curse of the Lillibridge strikes again!!!
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:21 PM) Honestly like qwerty said this might be a huge blessing for us. Something we can look back on in a couple years and thank the lord we didn't make that trade for Peavy. I also hope this doesn't effect Richard or Poreda too much and they see how they are good enough that other teams want them. You never know what can go through a young guy's mind regardless of the professionalism they have to show. This would have been, and still is, a win-win for the Sox. Consider: *If we would have gotten Peavy, a Buerhle-Peavy-Danks top 3 rotation is very, very solid. *Now the Sox will still nuture Clayton and Aaron, and whoever else may have been going to SD. *The Sox's payroll is still way, way under the average, which is good news indeed. The sting is still there.....trust me it will be gone tomorrow. Or in my case, after a Shiner 6 pack. Good night folks.
  13. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 21, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) Shouldn't this process begin with; Towers, "Hang on Ken let me call you back." Towers, "Jake if the Sox can get a deal done, will you go there......no.....what will it take to get you to agree..........ok" Towers, " Ken, Kevin, this is what Jake wants and this what we want.........deal?" Then the process begins. Is this whole thing ass backward or is that just me? No it's not just you. Jake may just be one of those few that doesn't even want to think about moving anywhere except staying in CA. He might be inclined, IMHO, later down his career to stay West Coast if the Angels, Dodgers, or Giants would ever be a hot contender...as a matter of fact now, it won't surprise me one bit if he is later traded to Anaheim, er....the LAA.
  14. QUOTE (tommy @ May 21, 2009 -> 07:03 PM) I really hope this fiasco doesn't mess with Richard's and Poreda's mind. I doubt it will unless a similar deal down the road might. You never know with KW. At least, hey, look at Gio...oh wait a sec....
  15. Someone commented way, WAY earlier on Roy Oswalt... He's 31 years old, going to be 32 in August. His current salary is $14 mil this year. His current contract situation: (quote from link http://www.baseball-fever.com/showthread.php?t=49841) Oswalt, who could have tested free agency after the 2007 season, will earn $13 million in each of the first two years of the contract. His salary moves up to $14 million in 2009, $15 million in 2010 and $16 million in 2011. He has a complete no-trade clause and a $2 million buyout of a $16 million club option for 2012. The scouting staff of the CWS can give you a more, unbiased opinion than I can. I just feel that he is starting the twi-light of his career, IMHO.
  16. I'm a few days late and a million dollars short, but I've been at work all day so sue me... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Aj.9...t&type=lgns Jake, Thank you for your interest in the Chicago White Sox organization. Godspeed and good fortunes. jrp
  17. From Yahoo Sports: Bot 4th: Chi White Sox - P. Konerko homered to deep left center, J. Thome scored - J. Fields singled to center, A. Ramirez scored - J. Dye homered to deep left, J. Fields, C. Miller and J. Nix scored MORE PLEASE!!
  18. Might be one of those sandwhich picks for the Sox.
  19. I'm not a scout by any means, but...I love the kid's batting approach...the head stays back and still, the hands are high, and the SWING...man that is a sweet swing. His catching video is solid, just made a high throw...but that UCLA batter really didn't get out of the way too much. Quick pop up and throw motion. I would like the WS to get this kid...this is the kind of player we need.
  20. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ May 19, 2009 -> 11:56 PM) Absolutely terrible mechanics. Has torn labrum written all over him. That's what I said too about the Kerry Wood-lite crack a few replies earlier... Today vs Texas he got the save in his first relief outing....14-9 Baylor in a whacky game.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 19, 2009 -> 11:29 PM) the offense is slowly coming around. The biggest key for the season, as far as I'm concerned, is Floyd getting his s*** together. If Contreras and Colon fail, they'll be able to patch together a 4 and 5 down the line. If Floyd doesn't start pitching better, you are replacing a 3.84 ERA with a godknowswhat ERA this year. Better include Danks in that too based on his last few performances. If Clayton Richard keeps getting the outings like he had on Sunday, fine with me. But Danks and Floyd better get it together, and fast. Heck, the whole team.....
