QUOTE (Cali @ May 18, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) Jose pitching a CG in AAA means squat. Once he comes back up to the big club, he'll walk a few guys then s*** the bed throwing nothing but drop down fastballs that aren't even close... When I meant notable I should have said...."AND THAT IS WHAT THE #%$^#%$^#%$ HE SHOULD BE DOING IN THE BIGS.....THE BIG LARD Q52W34523452342345234234..."

QUOTE (tommy @ May 18, 2009 -> 11:49 PM) I'm one of those blind believers that everything starts clicking and this team makes ala Indians 05 run and wins the division. (I realize in 05 they didn't but how many games behind were they at one point?) True that my friend, true that....good times indeed. It is that same point of the year isn't it??? We'll see... -
QUOTE (tommy @ May 18, 2009 -> 11:46 PM) Truth of the matter is we can't just blow up this team and call up the whole AA and have them play. And even if we start a FIRE-SALE how do we know received prospects are MLB ready? In that case we can just unload a lot of money have a s*** TEAM finish this season, and get ready for HUGE OFFSEASON pretty much building this from scratch, has Kenny ever chosen to go follow that route? Well, if history has told us anything in the last two years.....if KW couldn't buy a CF, what makes anyone think he could buy any good/great FA? KW seems to overpay middle relievers and unknown quantities based of potential (Ramirez, Viciendo), and is dearly paying for piss-poor drafts before 2008's. He did mortgage the minors for the 2005 trophy...fine. Now fix this, KW. It's been 4 years. And counting...

QUOTE (tommy @ May 18, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) The next 12 games will say a lot about this season. Tommy, I will respectfully disagree with you, sir....THE LAST 12 GAMES TOLD US A LOT ABOUT THIS SEASON ALREADY. -
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ May 18, 2009 -> 10:38 PM) My predictions: 1) Jenks will be traded for our future CF. 2) Dye will be traded for pitching prospects 3) Thome will be traded for a couple cheap prospects 4) Dotel will be traded for a decent prospect Blow it up Kenny. . . It pisses me off that we couldn't get this guy, instead we had to draft Lance Broadway...

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 18, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) looks like the twins will be coming to town on a 4 game skid. someone is going to get well in this series Rally Crede??? Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if Justin Morneau goes Ape-you-know-what again on the South Side.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) Ya Matt, I knew that, am an idiot though. Big 12 is a much much more elite baseball conference, but Iowa State isn't the reason why, haha. Texas, OU, Oklahoma State, and Missouri would be those reasons. Hell, Kansas is even playing good right now (and will be in the playoffs). ...and KSU has been herky-jerky in the 12 this season too, go ask the Horns about them. This will be a fun Big 12 Tourney coming up in a few days though.

Guys and gals...is it just me, or do the Sox REALLY need on getting an OF with their first round selection??? Let's just say that in the next three to five years, our lineup could be something like... C Flowers 1b Allen 2b Beckham SS Ramirez 3B Viciendo LF Quentin CF Danks RF ?????? Gartrell? Retherford?!?!?!? Shelby? DH Fields(???) Unless I'm missing someone or something, the Sox do need to add some more quality bats, otherwise they will have to trade just to fill an OF hole and potentially the DH/3B and/or even 1B depending on if the Sox DH' either Tank or Bo II. Thoughts or am I drinking too much Shiner Bock again???

I keep forgetting that Jon Gilmore is only 20 years old in playing Low-A ball. So far he's only hitting .194. Something tells me he might be repeating Kanny A next year just to give him confidence.
-
QUOTE (Cali @ May 18, 2009 -> 11:25 PM) But unlike Josh, Danks is hitting .315 and getting on base at a .394 clip... True, Danks = .290 in AA so far, however he has only 2 hits in his last 14 ABs with 7Ks...those 7 Ks have come in Jordan's last two games played. Also he has only two walks in the last 10 games played. The numbers tell me he may be trying too much and should just keep it simple. Get some singles Jordan, nothing wrong with that. Get on base...the rest will come in due time.

Charlotte won 4-0 against Toledo. Nothing notable here besides The Count with the CG SHO. Birmingham lost 5-3 to West Tenn. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...biraax_wtdaax_1 Omogrosso...oh my, 6IP, 5H, 5R, 5ER, 6BB, 4ks, ugly. Shelby and Flowers, both 2-4 each. Both had doubles too. Flowers and Omogrosso allowed 2 SBs. Danks, Gartrell, Beckham...did not bring their A games tonight... Winstom-Salem lost 4-1 to Myrtle Beach. Only other notable besides Hudson was SS Paiml = 2-4 Kannapolis lost to Hagerstown 2-1. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Infante took the loss, however - 7IP, 0 ER, 4 hits allowed, 3 BBs, 3Ks...not bad. Gilmore - HR. (only one in the last 10 games, however he has 3 RBIs and 5 runs scored in the same timeframe)

".....and with the teams' third round selection, the Chicago White Sox select James Jones, LHP..."
-
Does anyone know anything about Hector Santiago in W-S? 21Ks in 14 IPs, plus last year he was 83Ks in 64.1 IPs. 30th round pick in 2006.........

Heads just FYI on your Dash list, I already have Marrero...

QUOTE (Cubano @ May 17, 2009 -> 05:23 PM) I did a little project about the age average in AA. Looks like Viciedo is picking up. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...est-player.html Well not anymore, and yes The Tank is picking it up. Good times.

QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ May 17, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) I absolutely love everything I am reading and hearing on this kid. What a pickup. Could be be a poor man's Pedroia? If CJ can be a 1/16th of a Pedroia, then that is fine by me. He has had a pretty darn good minor league career so far, hope he keeps it up.

Please somebody tell me that half of the Knight's lineup won't be here after the draft. Man do they stink.
-
Is it just me or does his follow through scream "kerry wood lite"? Also that snap action on the first video...that is some serious strain on that shoulder.

Poreda allowed 3 runs in the 3rd inning.....

QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) Leesman dominated for Kanny. 7.2 IP, 1 hit, 1 unearned run, 0 walks, 9 k's What this means in the Sally League, who knows? It means that this lefty might be ready for W-S very soon. The 22 year old's numbers look pretty nice so far.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) Charlotte and Carlos Torres lost the first game 1-0. Torres: 6 IP, 1 R, 2 hits, 2 walks, 10 strikeouts. ERA at 1.85. Carlos' last 7 games according to milb.com Totals 3-2 1.85 ERA 39.0IP 28 Hits allowed 8ER 15BB 43Ks Hmmm..............

Ugly stuff there. Looks like some of these were because of signability/cheap slot money picks. The Sox and their fans are paying for this bad draft because most of the top 10 picks are either not going to fulfill their potential or they are busts. Most of them.

I'll get Ely, KW2 (gulp) and Morales...and I'll post this in the AAP thread as well...
