Slumpbuster???

Still haven't seen the George Clooney one....and don't want to. Val Kilmer stunk it up in his. Jim Carey was the only saving grace in the movie.

Just thought it would be an average moniker...

So I wonder who will be the first Sox talker that will give a spoiler alert for TDK? I'm gonna try to see it either this afternoon or tomorrow.

The Hawks do have an impressive crop of forwards in the farm system. Here's who I think will start out the year at Rockford, or with the Hawks: Kontiola Brouwer Skille Aliu Makarov Bickell Sweatt Versteeg Dowell Fraser Bertram Blunden Brophey Davis Berti Kyle Beach may or may not make it, if he doesn't he'll go back to juniors. Sindel......what's his status? Greenop will more likely start off at his junior team as well. With this crop alone, DT can make a good deal for a 2nd line winger to help out Lang and Havlat. I have my lines as: Sharp - Toews - Kane XXXX - Lang - Havlat Ladd - Bolland - Byfuglien Eager - Burish - C. Adams Thoughts??? -
Hmmmm....... If Mark is pitching for the next 9 yrs and duplicates all of his numbers, across the board, I would say yes, he has a good chance. He won't be a stone-cold lock, but he will have to have several more years of good-great numbers in order to be considered.

QUOTE (R.J. @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) I really think Cabrera might blossom if given a season to work with Cooper. I just don't want to give up a good prospect to find out. +1. At first when I read this, I said, NO. But if he gets to work with MOSES....hmmmmmmm.........

These have been probably mentioned already, but what the hey.... 1) Field Museum of Natural History. Nuff said. Also there's the Museum of Science and Industry...both off of Lake Shore Drive; the MOSAI is on South Lake Shore, IIRC 10-15 min from Downtown?!?!? 2) The Shedd...awesome. While you're there also check out Adler Planetarium. Both are located in the same area as the Field Museum. 3) Brookfield and Lincoln Park Zoo. 4) Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Just priceless. 5) OF COURSE A SOX GAME IS A MUST!!! 6) For your Mrs., check out the shops up and down Michigan Ave. 7) Boatride!!! Should be plenty all up and down Lake Shore north of Soldier Field. 8) Tours....check out Sears Tower, Hancock Bldg. 9) If you're into art, there's also the Chicago Art Institute. 10) As far as pizza, well, I think you got that covered after reading this entire thread... 11) Grant Park is nice...haven't been to Millenium Park yet............ 12) If you want to, rent a bicycle and take a ride on the paths through the parks or Lake Shore Drive.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 11:35 PM) YES, on 51st. Holy cow, I used to live three blocks from that place. Now THAT is some true sout' side pizza, mmm greasy indeed. Try Falco's which is not too far way on Califonia and Archer. GREAT pizza and they it sell by the slice. Two giant slices and a canned pop for about $3.50. IIRC, there was a Falco's in Hinsdale off of South Kingery Hwy....is that still there too?

Guys, I haven't been in Chicago in 10 yrs since the move to Texas. My favs back then were Connie's, Gino's East by Loyola U, Giordano's and Papa's Pizza Place when I used to live in Bolingbrook. Home Run Inn just moved to Woodridge on 75th before I left....long wait time, but good pizza. What others would you guys suggest? I want to introduce my wife (and my 8 month old daughter to some good pizza sauce, lol) to all things Chicago in '09.

Here in Luling, TX; I'm blessed to eat at two of the best BBQ places according to Texas Monthly magazine....City Market (one of the Top 5 in the state according to the magazine) and Luling BBQ (honorable mention)....also up the road on Hwy 183 in Lockhart, some 10 minutes away, two more Top 5 are Kruez (pronounced krites) and Smitty's. MMMMMM....BBQ. Also in Lockhart, Chisolm Trail is outstanding, IMHO. Where do you Q at? What places have you been to enjoy your Q?

QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 11:18 AM) A friend of mine is the Methodist Pastor in Schulenberg, just up the road. Hey there Tex, what's going on? Yep, down the road on I-10 eh? Schulenberg is a nice lil'ol town. We here just had the Luling Watermelon Thump festival, last weekend in June. It was nice.....mmmmmmmm, turkey legs...... Surprisingly, gas stayed the same during the whole event. It was $3.79 back then. Haven't been to South Padre in years, luv that beach town.

Last night, I saw Madagascar....King Julien rocks. "FOSSA EAT!" Also got Chicken Run on DVD....I'm a sucker for those guys who made Wallace and Grommit.

$3.89 at the Valero Gas Station in Luling TX. $3.99 @ Hwy 183 and FM 812 in Austin, SE side.

Was pretty busy this weekend. Took the Ms. and me to Journey to the Center of the Earth Friday night. Not bad, not bad at all. Good family movie, good action. I forget her name, but the lead actress is SMOKING HOT. Then on Sunday, the whole family saw Wall-E. Out-stand-ing. Potential MOTY. When the movie ended, I uttered to my wife, "Now, that is what a movie SHOULD be like. Not cheap, throughly entertaining, less dialogue isn't always bad..." And it was my 8-month old's first movie (She fell asleep for the entire movie with the exception of the last five minutes, LOL, and she was quite amused of all the action/colors/sounds of it), so we HAVE to get the widescreen DVD when it comes out. Also, that Pixar shortie of the magician and the rabbit....LMAO. Can't wait for The Dark Knight, hopefully can snag some tix at the Alamo Drafthouse here in Austin or at IMAX.

I'm not concerned with Aaron Poreda. As long as the folks in B'Ham and the Sox are saying that he's developing his off-speed stuff and he is "on schedule", it's fine with me. Does anyone have any info on the Upchurch front, as far as the Sox trying to sign him? Seems to be a quality arm based on what I've read here and BA...hope the Sox can get him signed.

My fav 5 comic book movies... Iron Man...nuff said. Batman...Jack Nicholson as the Joker? Priceless Batman Begins Superman (1978) Stardust (was written by Neil Gaiman, the novel was made into a comic book format later, IMHO, in the late 90s) XMen II gets my honorable mention....great storyline, good acting.

We Need Prospects!!!! Whatever it takes...if the Sox brass feels he can make it, get him!!!
-
This team rocks. Finally, great hitting with great pitching...what a concept!!!
-
Don't forget that Paulie has that 5/10 status that he can veto any trade. And as a previous poster said, Votto in Cincy is holding up very nicely. I doubt that Cincy would ask for another 1b since their prize prospect is doing pretty good. If anything, Cincy would probably ask for front-line pitching and an OF prospect(s) for Griff....if he would also agree to this too.

Mariah Carey throws like... the Mayor of Cincinnati
OilCan replied to knightni's topic in The Diamond Club
OK, it took two mascots to direct her to the mound, then she looks like she stole some garbs from Morganna's wardrobe, and she threw WHAT??? Wow. Speechless.
