  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) You know who I wouldn't want to face in the WS? The Astros. Clemens, Oswalt, and Pettitte would be NASTY in a short series. But the Astros' offensive is offensive. No pun. Without Morgan Ensberg, Lance Berkman and Craig Biggio in their lineup, they are toast. If anyone may be a trader by July 31st, it'll be the 'Stros.
  2. Jask and the Pacers, eh? Indiana just solidified their PG situation then, if Tinsley goes down again. 3yrs at 12 mil is a great, great addition and low payroll signing for the Pacers. Not bad indeed. NBADraft.Net has some info on the European leagues...that's where I get most of my Euro info. Good site. There's a center that the Bulls could conceivably get, Edu Hernandez from Spain, if the price is right and if he's still available.
  3. Put it this way, seeing Tony on the 2nd or 3rd line would be a definite upgrade than what they have last year. It won't hurt.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) He doesn't have the luxury of the aluminum bat any more. Whether he overcomes this remains to be seen. For now, it doesn't look like he's adjusted yet. He's in a 1-9 tailspin since my last update.
  5. OK, trade him for AJ Burnett. Done deal. I just had to take a double take on this. What an inspiring thread!
  6. Clinton King's stats through today (July 22 - Friday) 70 G 257 AB 59 H 12 2bs 2 3bs 4 HRs (OUCH!!!) .230 BA (Double OUCH!!!) .324 OBP .339 SLG 32/60 W/Ks 34/35 R/RBIs It's tough to stomach this. Clint King's writeup, at draft time from MLB.Com, was the following: COMMENT: Strong, durable body. Build similar to Brad Fullmer. Slightly crouched stance. Strength in swing for future average power. Ball jumps off bat, power to opposite field. Powerful strides. Pop in bat. His career stats are attached for your viewing pleasure (Credit to The Baseball Cube.Com for his up-to-date stats). So...lightning in a bottle thanks to just one great college year? Potential unrealized? Underachiever?? Or, classic late bloomer??? Time will tell. The bad news for King is that other OFs have been drafted (Anderson, Sweeney, Young, Cunningham) that have more potential/upside than King, and that King has been really stuggling to get his average past .250, let alone hit for power, something he did very well in college. If King continues to struggle, look for the Sox to not wait for him. IMO, he has until 2006 or 2007 to get past AA until the Sox may cut him loose.
  7. Contract year, eh? No thanks. He'll probably end up going back to the Yankees next year anyway.
  8. Can't since I live out of state. But please.... Sending my best for all Pale Hose fans everywhere. Great idea though.....
  9. Danman and to the rest of FutureSox.... THANK YOU!!! Nice to see that BMac still retains his #1 status, even after getting shelled so far in the bigs. Can't wait for Rogo and Gio!
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) David Wesley. Thank you DBAH0!!! Forgot that trade did happen. Not a bad starting 5. They should be a top 6 Western Conference seed then.
  11. My top 8 out of the East: 1. Miami 2. Detroit 3. Boston 4. Indiana 5. New Jersey 6. Washington 7. Chicago 8. Cleveland Chicago will need more time for the youngsters to continue to get better, while still getting/drafting quality talent. GETTING LUIS SCOLA FROM THE SPURS WOULDN'T BE A BAD IDEAto help out the power forward corps, but his buyout from Tau Cermica (sp?) will cost a pretty penny. Also getting a backup to Eddy for the next few years will be crucial. SF looks set with Nitro/Luol, SG looks set with Gordon/Basden (who will be a Devin Brown clone IMO) and PG (if Duhon resigns) is set as well with Captain Kirk holding the fort down. If the Bulls can't get Scola, maybe a sign and trade to get Hinrich's running mate from Kansas, Nick Collison, perhaps? Last year was pretty much his rookie season, which he wasn't too shabby. A good backup for Tyson, once Antonio Davis' contract expires, will be a good thing.
  12. Don't count out Indiana as well. As much as they'll miss Reggie, don't ever underestimate Rick Carlisle. Even though NJ may be pumping up their roster, IMO they are still no match for Shaq, Flash and the Heat. The Eastern Conference is starting to get stronger again. Miami, Boston (if they resign #8), NJ, Indiana, Detroit...5 legitimate teams that have a shot to come out of the east to play the Spurs again in the Finals. Wow. And with Chicago, Washington and Cleveland rounding out the rest of the pack, the East is starting to be a beast again. If Miami gets another shooter/rebounder, then they will be the favorite out of the East. Also, good pickup for the Rockets getting Swift. So their starting 5 is McGrady-Swift-Yao-Sura-???, crud, I forgot who's their 2. :banghead
  13. Baseball America, hands down; if you strictly want baseball. They have a comprehensive major, minor, college and high school database/mound of info to share for a pretty penny. IMO - get the on-line/paper subscription. If you follow the baseball draft like I do, then you'll really love that option. Get ready to pay a price though.
  14. Let's see...the NY Roster has.... 15 combo PG/SGs, and 15 undersized power forwards. And Larry STILL wants to coach the Crips?
  15. Going over a few things... I can't believe AD just went to Washington. So much for AD coming back to San Antonio, like the papers and internet postings were saying. Speaking of San Antonio, they have signed Fabrice Oberto to a 3 year deal, according to this web site. Also, ESPN had this writeup as well. Looks like the Spurs are the envy of scouting in the NBA, something my hometown Bulls are trying to emulate. I'll tell you this...I live 60 miles east of SA, and when the Spurs where going to put their championship DVD on the market Tuesday at midnight, there were lines waiting a mile long according to the TV reports...with one TV station actually showing via helicopter just how long the line was!!! Man, ever heard of Amazon.Com??? Look what else I found here in SA...Anyone got $5 on them???
  16. Wow. Good list guys! I luv to see the next 10!!! If Valido is #12 in your book, then the top 10 is getting to be interesting.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 06:51 AM) It didn't even wake me up last night. Now it appears we will have a ten day rain. Just a little rain, about an inch last night in quiet ol' Luling too. It's just cloudy and a little dark outside here at work in SA, but not much else. How are you doing today Texsox?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 07:27 AM) It is strengthening over the Gulf. Cat 2 now, expected as a 3 when it lands. We are holding our breath. Over the next 6-8 hours it should start to swing to the left (west) and bear down on Mexico, if it doesn't turn soon, I'm directly in line. Current forecasts National guys: All are pointing 50-60 miles south of me Local guys: Half are predicting a repeat of Buehla which hit the mouth of the Rio Grande. Any ideas on how to hold down a trampoline? I really do not want to disassemble. I'm laying in some Stout, figuring it's my favorite beer when warm. I have 3,000 gallons of water at the ranch and another 750 gallons in a mobile tank. Hey TexSox, where are you at? I'm in Luling. We should be getting some of the outer bands up here which won't be much. Get some more Shiner and Bud down there!
  19. I thought this was already discussed in the Minor League/Future Sox thread..... And that's still going on over there too! Hope he stays though.....
  20. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) Charlotte through Kanny all off because of All-Star Break/Game. Great Falls lost 8-6. Allen 2-5 with a HR. Richard with another solid start. Chirino got shelled. Updating box score Bristol got suspended due to rain. They trailed 1-0 through 2 innings. Brooks pitched. Box Score If Richie does good again in his next few starts, IMO it'll just be a matter of time before he goes to Kanny. Danman, do you think he's THAT good to skip Kanny and go straight to WS at this time?
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 03:16 AM) depending on what we get in return I wouldnt mind if any of our OF prospects were traded. If its for a true ace I would be very happy with it, although if its for Kip Wells, Ted Lilly, or Zach Day type pitcher it would be hard to see one of them go. If it was Zach Day from last year, that would be a good, low risk trade. But Zach has been running into all sorts of trouble this year. Poor guy...also has a high BB/K ratio, even for a LHP. Ted Lilly? IMO, Pass....I would rather take a Zach Day this year. Ted has good stuff, but I think he's a couple barrels apples short of a full barrel. I said it the other day....I wonder what a Barry Zito trade would command.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) You are far from the only sox fan who would love to see Borchard succeed. While in general most fans probably hope to never see him again those who know him and know how much of a hard worker and overall good guy would love to see him be successful if not with us, somewhere else. Hell you would like for him to succeed if for nothing else that we invested so much into him. Well SoxFan101...long story short. I'm from Chicago, and been a die hard White Sox fan since birth - 1973. Lived at 26th and Wallace, next to Rosie's Diner there on the corner when it was there. Rooted for just about anyone and everyone since being a Sox fan. So yep, that includes Joe. Regardless of how much jack management gave him from 2000. And if I'm the only Sox fan left on this earth still rooting for Joe to make it, so be it. I still luv my Sox. Drink a Leinenkugel on me!
  23. All right, since I started this mess....mind as well finish it. I'm probably the only White Sox fan who would love to see Joey B back. And promptly tear the baseball off its cover. If he hits over 25 HRs, 70-80 RBIs and Ks a ton w/a .230 or .240 BA, that's OK with me. I just hate to see a player who seems to finally "get it" (the proverbial light finally clicking on in his head) and succeed with the Pale Hose. Just plug him in the 7 to 9 spot in the batting order and see what he can do. He does bring a left-handed bat in the lineup that can bring balance and power to a mostly right-handed lineup still, which is a plus anywhere. The problem with Joe is the quality of depth in front of him now. Podsednik - Rowand - Dye with Carl Everett are in the club. KW isn't going to just let go Timo to have Joe sit on the bench. KW will have to trade off one of the outfielders (which I just don't see happening) in a fantastic deal in order to bring Joe back to the club. I just hope he does get a 2nd chance.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 12:22 AM) Let the national media say what they want. I look at the standings and that tells me all I need to know about the White Sox. Honestly Sox Fans. After all this time, does anything that f-in four letter network does anymore surprise us? Let's just keep flying under the radar then. And to quote Milk and Cheeses, :finger ESPN, this is for you!!!
