  1. Rooting for Indy for those keeping score at home. And I'm super jacked about the late game. This town is so buzzing for the Seahawks that I can't help but to be swept up in the excitement.

Watched the first Downton Abbey last night. Color me impressed. #instantlyhooked
  3. I've been following this disgusting case in the last few days after my wife told me about it. This is an incident that would probably get me the death sentence if this happened to my daughter since I'd likely murder these boys with my bare hands.
  4. "Jeff Who Lives At Home“ was pretty awful.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 01:48 PM) Does it plug into my ipod docks in my car and house? No. Then not interested. You too iphone 5. So you'll be keeping your iphone 4 for the rest of your life?
  6. I'm holding out for the next Nexus phone.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 05:45 AM) Since the government has now become the mitigator of disaster, it should be the people who choose to live in dangerous zones of the country (flood, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, etc) who subsidize their own dangerous lifestyles. Which parts of the country are not prone to disaster? Tornadoes happen in a heck of a lot of states, earthquakes in all of the west coast states and the midwest (New Madrid fault), hurricanes along the south and east, and flooding in a number of places as well.
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 08:08 PM) Ann Coulter thinks we should publish names and addresses of women who have had abortions That dude needs to get rid of his adam's apple.
  9. An iPhone Lover’s Confession: I Switched To the Nexus 4. Completely.
  10. Too lazy to check if this has already been posted but I just got a chance to read this excellent article from July's Rolling Stone: Global Warming's Terrifying New Math
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 09:34 AM) If there's really not any actual risk, what is the point of the rule? Why should it remain in place? I'm betting most people who don't care about the inconvenience only travel a couple times each year. This meaningless "rule" is quite annoying for those of us who are on 30 plus business trips per year.
  12. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 08:51 AM) Because banning things suddenly just removes them from society right? How's that war on drugs going? Funny how so many conservatives think that banning abortion will eliminate abortions but banning guns won't do anything whatsoever.
  13. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 08:45 AM) I'm glad you find it funny that a guy who had the audacity to own and operate his own business got killed while fleeing his attackers. I don't find that funny. You're pretty bad an interpreting my feelings. Besides, people could use anything as a weapon to defend themselves. Credit cards, hammers, pencils, you name it.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 08:44 AM) If people can't shut their damn phones and tabs off for 15 minutes prior to takeoff and landing, then they are certainly welcome to drive or take a boat to their destinations. The "because I said so" rationale. Not a big fan. Give me some concrete reasons why I should.
  15. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 08:43 AM) Another law abiding Chicagoan murdered because he had no way to defend himself. The first of what will surely be many in 2013, good work liberals! You've really done a fine job with this city. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/b...0,6954147.story Of course he could have defended himself. He probably had several credit cards in his wallet.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 08:42 AM) I'm going to assume...same risk.....which is incredibly low and they don't care? One other theory I always had was they just wanted cell phones off because someone fiddling with them would be distracted during takeoff and landing (but they leave the tvs on during landing). But I don't know anything other then the special showing the different waves but again it went on to say that while some devices can cause this, they still didn't throw off anything. So yeah...it's a crock of s***.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 08:36 AM) I turn off my electronics. I saw a special a couple years ago on it and it mentioned that certain malfunctioning electronics can interfere with the radar system etc and it showed the waves and how busted phones, etc would create minor blips in the electronics. I'd rather be overly careful. So apparently there is no risk that the ipads which pilots use in the cockpit can't malfunction.
  18. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 08:27 AM) There is actually a nice follow up to that article from an opposing viewpoint. I rarely read comments but it was the first one and caught my eye. I don't mind a few minutes of turning off my electronics. You really think there if there's a chance that someone's personal electronic device could cause a plane to go down that their best way to prevent such a calamity is to kindly ask people to turn them off and hope that people listen? If there was any chance that these devices could cause something like that then they'd certainly ban them from being brought onto a plane. The fact that pilots can use them in the cockpit proves this.

Finally got through season 2 of Homeland. I'll say I don't think Brody was involved in the bombing but I have no idea how it happened. I'm assuming parking lot video will come up fairly quickly in the next season to show someone else moving the vehicle. I'm just wondering why the CIA would immediately call off surveillance for a known terrorist, Brody, the minute Nazir was killed. You'd think they'd monitor him a little more to ensure that there wasn't some sort of retaliation or at least communication with other lieutenants of Al Qaeda.
  20. A Kansas man who donated sperm to a lesbian couple after answering an online ad is fighting the state's efforts to suddenly force him to pay child support for the now 3-year-old girl, arguing that he and the women signed an agreement waiving all of his parental rights. via Personally, I feel that this guy should get off, no pun intended.
  21. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 12:05 PM) I think Portland would give us a run for our money. No. Not even close. The number of vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants in NYC dwarfs all other cities. I read an article on it not long ago but can't seem to find it. /tangent
  22. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 10:08 AM) Watched Veducated and Forks Over Knives on Netflix. Like... literally makes me want to go Veg/Vegan... it's just mind blowing. Everything from essentially curing cancer to big farms throwing live baby chicks into a grinder for cat food. Humans suck. I will welcome you with open arms. It's not that hard of a change. Plus you live in the most vegan friendly city in the US.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 08:41 AM) good series of an interview with Tarrantino by Henry Gates Jr. about Django: http://www.theroot.com/views/tarantino-unc...-django-trilogy http://www.theroot.com/views/tarantino-unc...n-word?page=0,0 http://www.theroot.com/views/tarantino-unc...3-white-saviors Great read.
