QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) Take a lot of pitches off this guy, he seems to be having control problems early. Sort of like Verlander tonight.
-
LOL Travis Lee's photo in gameday is comical.
-
That was a badass pre game video .
-
Uh oh. Verlander with a shaky first inning. Are the innings catching up to him?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) Ozuna, LF Iguchi, 2b Dye, RF Konerko, DH Crede, 3B Cintron, SS Alomar, C Gload, 1b Anderson, CF Buehrle, P Wow. What a lineup. I think I kinda like it.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) Wasn't a pitcher, but how about in Baltimore, when Chen picked him off and the first baseman rushed the throw to second because of Pods' speed, throwing it into the outfield? It just seems like such a stark contrast looking at what Pods brought to the table in 2005 compared to this year. It isn't even close.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) Reputation. Who cares if he doesn't run if the threat is still there? I personally don't think his reputation as a basestealer is as good as you might think....at least right now. I recall several instances last year where the opposing pitcher was so distracted by Pods on first that they wound up throwing the ball away or making a mistake. This year his basestealing has been awful and I don't recall any pitchers making critical mistakes trying to keep him from going to 2nd.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) Also, I consider the fact that he isn't running as much a positive rather than a negative. It keeps him on the basepaths, and gives the heart of the order a chance to drive in more runs, since if he isn't stealing, he isn't getting thrown out. So what's the point of having a speedy guy at the top of the order? And you already answered your own question. You asked for proof that he isn't distracting the pitcher yet you state yourself: "the fact that he isn't running" Why would a pitcher be distracted by someone who doesn't run?

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) His defense all season has been atrocious. He has one of the worst arms in the majors, is terrible at judging bloopers, he plays entirely too deep, and his lack of focus in actually catching fly balls is pathetic. I'll be the first to admit I hate him, but even some of the most optimistic, least critical people on this site have seen enough of his defense to be sickened. I was a huge fan of Pods last season. This year is another story. He has provided no spark to this team at all. He doesn't steal, doesn't bunt, causes no distractions to the pitcher once he gets on, has a weak arm, and plays below average defense. If there are positives for keeping him in the lineup I am definitely not seeing them.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) No, not at all. Gload is just as good of an option, if not better, at the leadoff position as Pods now. Hell, Gload is a better bunter, and he has more infield hits this season than Pods. No, I meant sarcasm in the post you were replying to. I don't disagree with your assessment though.

QUOTE(rowand @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 01:11 PM) let's let him play 2-3 games a week with us since he is hitting well. pick our spots with thome and give konerko a day off once a week for pete's sake. i.e., the Mackowiak effect QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) Or how about we let him play in LF more? His D is bad out there, but so is everyone else we've put out there this season. There's no reason to keep PK and Thome on the bench once a week if they're healthy. I sensed sarcasm in his post.

QUOTE(Winning Ugly @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) Uhh...where is it? 1st post

QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) I'm going to stick with great. He's got very little speed, a great arm, takes good reads, dives a little more than I'd like...but that has to do with his lack of speed. He's faster than most give him credit for, but he's still not fast. Fixed

When do I find out that I won the World Series ring raffle? -
QUOTE(SadChiSoxFanOptimist @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) I like JD, but I think perhaps this is his last year with us. Why is that?
-
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:34 AM) He is, after all, our #1 starter. Not sure how you can say that.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) Brian Anderson has the higest Range Factor of any OF in the majors with over 30 games, and it's not really close. But we need to trade for Aaron Rowand! -
QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) Yep, down by two with two on. Its unreal how routine it is for him. Should they just hand him the MVP trophy now?
-
At least the Rangers are storming back. Now 15-1 Twins.
-
You know who really sucks? Kenny Rogers.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) I think Cotts will definitely be a starter some day. Really? He has 2 pitches.
-
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) Wow, that is an extremely unique tattoo. That had to be PAINFUL as hell to get done, too. Just shows how much of a man he is . You're starting to scare me.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) No, but do you have a pic? And you just claimed you're straight?

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) Talk to Jason. It's his call, but chances are good. We had it off for the trade that never happened. Was that you or Jason? Regardless...thanks!
