Great inning. Why do I subject myself to this torture? -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) Why is Thome on first base? No kidding. It took 10 seconds for the ball to reach the fielder. -
Oh my gosh! I don't know if you heard but Carlos Lee and a prospect were traded to the Rangers for Francisco Cordero, Laynce Nix and Kevin Mench.
-
That was quite an early morning deal. Caught me off guard.

QUOTE(champ @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) The Sox are better than both of those teams, with or without those guys. Our lineup might be but not our pitching or defense. Well maybe our defense is equal to those 2 teams.

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 10:24 AM) I will take the side of thinking the Brewers are dumb. Trade CLee and you don't even get a decent prospect? Nix has been unable to make it in the Rangers outfield for 3 years now. They tried to hand him the CF job for the past two years and he just wouldn't take it. Mench is a hot/cold player... what you see is what you get... not much upside. Cordero is a good bullpen arm. Plus the Brewers traded Nelson Cruz. I think he would have been starting in the Brewers OF in the next year or two. I love this deal for the Rangers. I do too if they can lock up Carlos. The Brewers minus Carlos are not very good. Even if you sprinkle in the 2 average fielders and one above average reliever they just received.

So much for the Twins or Tigers getting Lee.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 10:17 AM) Holy smokes! They gave up a bunch! Kevin Mench, Francisco Cordero, and Laynce Nix!!!!! WOW!!!! I think Texas got the better end of this deal as long as they are able to lock up Carlos.

The Milwaukee Brewers are trading slugger Carlos Lee to the Texas Rangers as part of a multi-player deal, ESPN.com learned Friday. The Brewers are sending Lee, minor-league outfield prospect Nelson Cruz and a player to be named later to the Rangers for relief pitcher Francisco Cordero and outfielders Kevin Mench and Laynce Nix. Both teams are checking for any medical issues before consummating the deal.

Well that was quick.

Something To Hope For The Next 2 Months

I'm not sure why everyone is worried. We still have the 5th best record in baseball. -
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 09:07 AM) On the radio this morning they were saying this Alfanso Soriano - Tigers C. Lee - Twins just fishing great. They were also saying Soriano to the Sox earlier this week. I'll believe it when I see it.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 08:49 AM) I'm kinda sick of hearing from the Sox how untradable Brandon McCarthy is, but then at the same time apparantly he's not good enough to start over Javier Vazquez. For real. At least the Angels were smart enough to finally pick little Weaver over the awful older brother. Looks like we will continue to be stubborn and keep going with the guy making the big bucks.

On paper it looks like we should lose badly tonight but I like our chances. Freddy Maddux will stifle the O's lineup with his junk. -
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) You might want to edit this quote. Read it slowly and you'll see why.... Old SNL skit, no?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) Anything that keeps Mack out of CF. An interesting read regarding Makowiak. From the 'Sox Machine' blog. http://soxmachine.com/blogs/soxmachine/

QUOTE(champ @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 02:38 PM) I'll take my chances with the Sox going all out the rest of the season, and gaining homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Hope you're not a betting man/woman. -
That last quote is priceless. LOL

Anybody Else Getting Burned on this Grinder Party Thing?

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) Anybody know what to expect out of these?? What former Sox player will be in attendence?? Jose Paniagua -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) Just remember, we have 1 steal in 12 games since the All-Star Break. Carlos Zambrano has more steals and homers than Pods since the ASB. And yet people question why we'd want Soriano in LF.
-
QUOTE(champ @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) I still believe this is, by far, the best overall team in the majors. By far? Wow. Let me get a sip of that Kool-Aid.

QUOTE(TarHeels2 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) Fields plays left and third right? So I say trade Broadway, Fields and Anderson for Soriano Convert Pods from left to center. Then next year if Soriano doesn't sign back, just go and bring Sweeney up like we did with Anderson and put him or Ozuna in left. I am sorry but I'd rather have a young prospect that can catch the ball in left then Pods. Contradicting yourself buddy. Don't trust Pods in LF but you trust him in CF??

QUOTE(champ @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) If you think Buehrle and Garcia (who was good in his last start) are going to continue to not pitch well, then I don't know what you're thinking. Garcia can pitch a big game with the best of them (told Coop the day before Game 4 of the World Series to not worry, because there was no way he was losing that game)...and Buehrle will be Buehrle once again. Anyone who thinks we should rid Buehrle or Garcia is about as stupid as wanting to get rid of Garland earlier in the year. You base this crap (because that's what it is) over a few outings, and I'm sorry, but that's just fishing stupid. I'll take this rotation over any other rotation in baseball for the rest of the year. And it wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if they are the best rotation from here on out. That was an excellent post.
