  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) Oh hey there
  2. I'd go with Trout. How many more RBIs would he have if he batted 3rd? Another 12 to 17?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan Rios, konerko, pierzynski, beckham, youkilis getting the night off. They've pretty much taken the month of September off so what's one more game.
  4. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 01:30 PM) They were well enough to go out there so they did, theyre both gamers. Well enough to put up #7 and #8 hitter type numbers in the 2nd half. Hooray! Thank goodness they're such gamers.
  5. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 01:14 PM) If we go a long period of time without Dunn and Konerko then the "collapse" would just have started sooner rather than later You always seem to have an excuse. What's the benefit of playing two injured players, coincidentally two of the highest paid players on your team. To injure them more? It's not like they were contributing much in the 2nd half. Maybe they were trying to improve Paulie's shoulder shrug technique after a weak pop up to 2B?
  6. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) He had a sore left ankle, which doesn't effect a RH hitter, at all. A wrist and an oblique problem directly effect a batters swing. Then shame on management for trotting out injured players who directly attributed to losses with their poor play.
  7. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 12:59 PM) Injuries to key guys will do that Wasn't Miguel Cabrera banged up this year? He still managed to put up triple crown winning numbers and carry the team on his back.
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) It is very hard to find a slim fit dress shirt with a 16 1/2 inch neck and a 36/37 sleeves. Express for Men? I don't really shop there but they seem to sell athletic cut clothing. Or hit up Macy's and Nordstrom's.
  9. I don't follow the NBA much in the off season but reading the articles about Thibs' extension just made me depressed. Not that we extended him but reading about how our team has been gutted. Seems like there is zero chance for us to be true contenders this year. *sigh*
  10. Although I'm not a big fan of his you have to start him at 2nd next year. He's cheap and serviceable.
  11. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 10:13 AM) my hope is that we sign francona and move ventura to 3rd base
  12. Please stop fading each year at the tail end of the season. It sucks to watch hungry teams go on a tear in September every year to make a push for the playoffs and we continually run out of gas and play uninspired.
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 03:00 PM) I'm not into having 250+ cloudy/rainy days per year, I'm not into coffee, and Seattle is really far from the rest of the country, so it rates pretty low in my book. The entire state of Florida is too humid for my tastes. Granted I've only lived here a year now but the whole rain thing seems really overblown. There were so many days in the winter where it drizzled for a few hours in morning and the sun would come out for the rest of the day. Combine that with a large portion of plant life that stays green year round and the winter isn't all that bad. And this past summer was nicer than any I can recall in Chicago. But to each their own.
  14. I wonder of we'll break 5K in attendance tomorrow.
  15. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 10:33 PM) The sentence following the one you bolded kinda touched on that. PK is too much of a gamer. I didn't realize he makes the lineup card and not the manager.
  16. via San Francisco gets top honors. My new hometown Seattle is the runner up. Chicago at #28 Even before seeing this I ranked SF #1. And I do love living in Seattle. Everything is so much cleaner and you can actually breathe fresh air. Chicago should be a few notches higher but I understand how it can get dinged with the huge uptick in homicides.
  17. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) So youre going to fix this by not contributing to the attendance?? makes sense. Had The Captain of this team not dealt with injuries in the 2nd half of the season I'm posotive we'd have at least a 2 or 3 game lead at this point. When a teams clean up hitter bats around .240, drives in 19 runs (1 less than than the month of may) in the last 2 months of the season while leaving countless runners on base thats the recipe for a collapse. I wish Paul Konerko wasn't Paul Konerko and they moved him down in the lineup, even just a spot down would have been nice. If PK comes back next year there should be no reason they shouldnt compete...I expect Youk to be back unless they can trade for a 3B. Past David Wright who may not even be a FA there aren't any options on the FA market, and Brent Morel showed us no reason why he should be given the job again. Its possible Youk can come back healthy next year and have a better year. A healthy, or healthier Youk and PK along with maybe some progression from Dayan gives us a pretty good offense next year. Pitching wise getting Danks back certainly helps, but regardless pitching wasn't the issue this year. Also makes you wonder why the manager is asleep at the wheel and didn't bench him to heal up or move him down in the order.
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) Tiger fans were calling it a season when they were down 3 after last week's loss in the makeup game. It's 1 game. And Minny hates the Tigers. Who cares what the Tigers do. We forgot how to win games.
  19. 12th walk lol f*** this....time to go watch some Colbert.
  20. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 08:25 PM) Because our manager is using his XBOX to plan the game. Santiago has a 9 rated curve, and if he uses the X, O, [ ], X, O and hold the left and right trigger buttons together is activates his super fastball ability. Not only did he give us an awful effort but we burned our entire pen to boot.
  21. Someone remind me why we decided to give Santiago the start?
  22. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 08:14 PM) 1 team town Last I checked there are 9M or so people in Chicago and the surrounding burbs combined. We can't even break 25K in a pennant race.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 08:13 PM) Konerko's bat toss was even nicer this at bat than last at bat! Just sit him down and let Johnson play. How annoying to watch him do that multiple times per game. He's hurting this team with his awful hitting in the 2nd half.
